Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has stayed in Africa this week as part of its build up to the Heineken Cup final, and attached itself to Barrels restaurant in Luderitz, Namibia, known for its beer, Eisbein and sing-a-longs.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Simon Danielli, Federico Aramburu and the possibly Auckland-bound Joe Schmidt.

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
Hi all, back from a top weekend in Toulouse. The game against Montpellier was a good'un. It had plenty of tries, it had a yellow card, a red card, a kicker who missed plenty of kicks and a tight enough scoreline.
I saw the Munster game over there. The lineout failed and we were unable to protect our own ball at the ruck. They were the two issues. The scoreline was dreadful but I think that a few small changes can and will make a big difference. I still feel a NIQ backrow (#7 or #6) is needed.

God Staggy it was horrible to watch Munster getting whafted aside far too easily. A few tweaks and more luck with injuries and there will suddenly be light at the end of that tunnel. It's always darkest just before the dawn, we Ulster fans know all too well

Pete, I'm not especially worried about the future. I think we will be fine though as I say backrow is my concern moving forward.
I thought Keith Earls work for the Keatley try was excellent and is the consolation I am taking from the match.

Stag myself and Thomond thought ROG was heavily at fault for the manner of the defeat, specifically the fact that he was standing so deep behind the gainline and shipping the ball wide.
I don't think a new backrower wll fix that. Munster need a complete overhaul at half back or a total change of tactics to suit the players they have.

I would agree with that. I think he was heavily at fault for Ulster too. I;m just talking to EireBilly on another thread about it. ROG is done IMO. He isn't good enough.
I think we'll see that change and I would be loath to bring in new halfbacks when we have some young Irish ones who could do the business. I'd rather see us bring in a forward and play Keatley/Deasy/Hanrahan as flyhalves who stand flatter.
Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
Maybe stag but Murray has had a very poor season with his service which makes it difficult for the 10 to stand flat. Maybe Stringer playing at 9 will help Keatley and Deasy?
Murray needs to sort himself out. Isaac Boss managed it but he needs to really improve the speed of his service and descision making.

Rodders, I'm not worried about Murray. Not to be name dropping but I spoke recently to one of the Munster players who said that there is a fair bit of disillusionment within the team - especially in the backs. They aren't enjoying their rugby and he mentioned Murray by name as a player who is getting frustated at "being coached to play slower ball". Thats a quote.
Apparently they are greatly looking forward to a new backs coach coming in. I think that a new backs coach and the return of Stringer will show us a newer Conor Murray or even Duncan Williams come to the fore. He had a superb game in Munster v Australia last year and was apparently excellent against Cross Keys in B&I Cup Final.
Murray is playing very badly (you heard my views at the Ulster match). But I think it can be resolved.

Gees thats amazing stag. I mean Murrays service has been notably slower this year, hes been playing like O'Leary, just delaying getting the ball away, then standing up and passing from the shoulder rather than the wrist...incredibly frustrating to watch.
He has all the skills no doubt about it.
I think a new coach will really make a big difference because Munster have plenty of talent there but like Ireland are all over the place tactically.

Have you tried doing yoga/pilates like an hour before you go to bed? That's supposed to be really relaxing to help you sleep.

Nope. We can't win it. An Irish team will win it. Connacht are into the ERC next year.
I don't think Leinster having bragging rights is any better/worse than Ulster having them.

Actually it doesn't Mick, over the past year off these forums I've been diagnosed with Chiari syndrome and syringomyelia. Is there anyone else out there on 606 that has this and would like to swap a few stories and tips?

Thought so. Most Soccer fans would say Ulster as they would hate Leinster as their neighbours and biggest rivals. Scottish Soccer fans would say Leinster due to the politics. Stag's answer is a good RUGBY answer.

Morning all, morning Mick, I think that you should be. In all honesty, up until this weekend I was only giving Ulster a very slim chance, but I'm revising that view after the Glasgow game - a couple of injuries could hurt you and I think that the Weegies exposed a few Leinster weaknesses that the Ulster coaching team will be poring over ... think it'll be a very close game nowMickado wrote:Morning all.

ASBO I think Leinster may have had one eye on the HEC final last weekend, I doubt if that game will be any indicator of how they will perform in the HEC final.
The injuries to BOD and O'Malley sound worrying though for them.
Anyone seen the long range weather forecast yet?

Cheers folks.
I do hope to be a normal person this time next year. Getting the 'Op' hopefully in a few months. The symptom list is extensive but I have been lucky they discovered it at last. I thought I was a hypercondriac
Brain decompression surgery and a spinal stint and I will be without symptoms fingers crossed. 6 months to a year recovery and then I will be an official zipperhead (they open up the back of your head to get at the problem). Until then it's constant pain medication and sleeping pills.

I'll be so disappointed if I wake up just being me again
