Welcome to Season 5 of the Aviva Premiership fantasty rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (Ozzy3213) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at it’s discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the matchday 22's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.
Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 3 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Championship/National League bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on it's own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
Foreign transfers will unlimited during the off season and 2 during the season. The exact dates of the two transfer windows during the season is to be confirmed.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
If a released player plays in real life for a team outside of this game he will be deemed to have returned to that team. If not then he will be deemed to have signed for a Championship side. If another manager wants to pick a released player up, they will have to bid for him in the same way as for a foreign or Championship/National League player.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A thread will be put up for managers to name their teams on Thursdays, then on Fridays, managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your matchday 23, and at least 5 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£1.5m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Think lindsay is pretty damn brainless if I am honest.
He is a real athlete and strong an ox so carries well.
He looks like a backrower forced into hooker not sure if that's what they did with him but they have done it with lots of backrowers befOre.
Could be a useful impact sub if throwing was good. Throwing is difficult to sort out that's for sure

Can't underestimate a good throw, people always seem to think its a quick fix I think.
Was reading SA sites and they really slate BdP, many reckon he should be replaced at hook. I thought he was great on Sat but Boks seem to love a perfect throw over a freak of a man who gets through stacks of work.

Before this series I was in favour of Strauss starting like most saffers as bdp was in poor form.
Now I
Would say bdp all the way although Strauss is better than most other nations hookers. He is a fantastic player and does not have a weakness. However bdp is unique talent and unstoppable on his day. Easily best in world

Re: Homepage
Lindsay wont be first choice at Wasps, we've signed 2 hookers to replace Webber, a Welsh international (surprise, surprise) and someone else.
I dont think he will make it, as he's 24/25 and I dont think he has the brains - though Nathan Morris could be different, think he was from the Newcastle academy - rate him very highly.
Some very good prospects coming through, Mike Haywood at Saints did very well before injury - wonder if Tom Youngs will make it, Cockerill certainly thinks that he will.
Read that Saints will start playing Calum Clark at lock next season, unless Wood has to retire - want to try and get him into the enforcer type player...he's certainly got the aggression, just needs to be channelled to not be a thug!

Monye went of early.
I saw about 20 mins and Morgan was by far Englands best player when I was watching. Karl Dickson also looked sharp. May's first try an excellent finish.

Which of your young players signed or in your academy are you most excited about??
Whilst I have signed etzbeth and perenara 2 certain internationals and already proven I think Arno Botha is my one.
Already played for bulls in most games this year and asked to train with boks as
A player of interest. Looks a real diamond and like all young backrow comfortable in all 3 positions although 8 or 6 is position

I'd say Samson Lee....held his own and dominated the massive NZ prop and I'd say 2 years time he'll be there. Obviously excited about Godwin and thinking about one more hidden gem.

marcell coeztee my best academy player.
how did matthew morgan go for wales in the WC?
out of my academy i think yarde and sisi look prospects, especially yarde. being a regular for irish will help him and boost his rating. very powerful runner. also anthony watson will be a hell of a player.

i tried to sign all of the captains from the big three - already had Gill, but got the SA one and the NZ'er too.
its a shame a lot of the Argentinians wont get much game time on tv as there were some real stars there who I think could have a really good future, espc their fb.
out of my academy I think Sam Cane - but English wise Joe Launchbury is my pick (obv Joe Ford). Thanks for the recommendation on Cane mat!

He seems to get unfairly picked on by refs at times - his yellowcard last week was really harsh.
If they use him as just a carrier and someone to stop the Boks getting over the gainline then we are ok - I think that's what our pack has really missed - could have done with a Joe Worsley type tackling machine!

Reckon a footballer would have been out for a year with the injury he got! Wonder if he will get recalled.

Not sure he would hve stopped the Boks running through our pack though! We need to find some proper enforcers - was impressed by Waldroum though.
Jonny May has some serious wheels - would like to see him make the step up, as could be a star on the wing, easily a replacement for Strettle.
Still not sure whether Wade will make it, so good in offence, but can get knocked about a bit.

Really intelligent player Nick, good boot and quick. Next season is a big one for him, he covers all over the backthree, I had thought he could make a stab at being a 10, but don't think that will happen.
The Wasps players always speak really highly of him, personally I'm not sure how much first team rugby he will get next year as that could hamper his development.
I'd have Launchbury, Wade, Jones and Elliot Daly as our best youngsters, who will definitely make a name for themselves - with Wallace, Vunipola and Nathan Morris as the good players that have a lot of potential, but could go one way or the other.

Strange team. Its kind of attacking but then not.
FB should have a strike runner and not someone with very little pace. Goode is a really good defensive 15 but not going to rip up trees at this level attacking wise.
If we were going to play very stoic Saracens rugby he would be ideal. Has a great step and good under the high ball but look at every other nation Dagg, Beale, Medard, Kearney etc they all have people with out and out pace for a reason.
Corbs back in is the right call. marler has had his learnings and will be a better player for it but corbs is a good lh at international now. great to see Care in as well

Be interesting to see Goode, I don't think he's quite Int quality but Lancaster seems to like him, looked good when he came on last week I thought.
He's been apparently working on his pace last season although not sure if it's made a difference. He has a good step and a nice offload, very different to Foden who just runs straight and hard.

To be fair Mike Brown looked like he was running in treacle when he first played for England but is now quick enough.

I like the impact players we have on the bench...not really sure Dickson, Farrell or Barritt would ever be able to help us chase a game if we are losing.
I like Goode a lot, really intelligent - am sure Sarries had him down as their next 10 a while back but that went quite wrong! Very good defensively, but would much rather we keep our best fb in the fb position!
We should be far better at matching the physicality of the Boks upfront but really dont think our bench can add anything - L Mears (Bath), J Marler (Harlequins), M Botha (Saracens), P Dowson (Northampton), L Dickson (Northampton), O Farrell (Saracens), B Barritt (Saracens) - who can change a game out of those players?
Reckon England are definitely starting to make strides again, if we get Farrell back as defence coach it will make a huge difference, when we get Lawes, Wood, Robshaw, Croft back in the pack and would like to see if we can get May in the match day 22, bring him through and know he will make mistakes, but each game he gets he'll be better for 2015.

I don't want Farrell anywhere near England tbh, don't like the bloke or his style of play

Great bench isn't it - every player makes us worse...
Only one I would like to see on there in the future is Marler, as at least he can make an impact, or will be once he gets more experience.
If we need to chase the game (we most likely will) then that bench wont add anything - Lancaster also seems to love to use all his bench, which is going to cause us problems.
Would have liked to have seen a few more impact players on the bench.
