The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Belfast - the rope-making and ship building capital of the world.
Now the Mouth of the Shoal awaits the safe arrival of one of it's long lost daughter's - Cariadwr - in her ongoing quest to be as close as possible to one of her favourite players... Tomás Ó Buaigh of Emyvale.... on her Birthday
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Nial O'Connor, Cari & Tommy Bowe, "Pickles" the wonder dog of '66, Wikus van de Merwe and Black Caviar above the bar.

Suspect there's a few sore heads around today I'll just have a quick whilst I build myself up to tackling the Poopie tip that is the spare room. Procrastinating again!

Afternoon, if anyone is about.
Nice evening yesterday. Nine of us rocked up for the London meet up, and plenty of beer was sunk.

Good evening all.... July calling!
Sounds like it was a very pleasant evening indeed, Hound. I hope no beer jugs were knocked over during Hoog's screen test.
I bet nobody talked over anybody too?
All I remember from English pubs is to be wary of low timber beams. I clocked myself on one (carrying beers) in the Bulls Head on Strand on the Green. I was living not far from there on Thames Rd. It sure stunned me... I can assure you.
Big Josh Strauss scores for the Lions. 13-10 to the Stormers.
We gotta have more bearded lumberjack types like him in every forward pack.
The battle of the big bushy beards - gingers v the black bushies. Something like that!

So a Welshman (Donaldson) leads the Irish open going into the last round tomorrow. Padraig Harrington will carry the Irish hopes just two behind.

Saw this from Alessandro Del Piero, wrote an open letter to Juventus fans in an Italian newspaper. Very classy.

A real one club man, stuck with Juve when they got relegated and through thick and thin. A class act.

Yes Swanny, I've just watched the end of it. I had them by 17 but was closer in the Brumbies game.
Missed out on Crusaders and Highlanders though.
I watched the TdF prologue before. Off to bed now though. Nite all.

Wotcher breaker The Bulls Head is a bit of a landmark pub.
No low beams in the three pubs, but some lovely pub architecture in the first two. OzT was representing Aussie , krd for NZ, hoog and his mate Aongus for Ireland, Asbo & RiskySports for the Scots, and yappysnap for England, and my mate Andy for Yorkshire (well they think it's a separate country).
Just watched the Stormers (27) v Lions (17). Much better second half.
The pub here has put a sign up which reads "You are sitting in RUGBY CORNER" and is adorned with the emblems of the four 'Lions' unions.
Fair play to them.

Evening lurkers and shirkers.
I feel very dozy. Had to take some strong antihestamines cause I got bitten by some insect or other in the week and had an allergic reaction. Couldn't take them during work or I'd be alseep at my desk. I've managed to do some chores today, but then I slept for three hours this afternoon and I feel ready for bed again I don't like summer.

Following on from that, the pub want to download some 'classic' games to show during the off season.
We have already thought of a few and have put the game before national consideration; which will follow to avoid repetition. However I would appreciate suggestions from the regs, as I would expect the idea itself to be followed rather than nominate games where your team slaughters another.
So far...
International.
Barbarians v NZ 1973.
Wales v England (5N Wembley) 1999.
Wales v NZ (the haka response)
France v NZ 1999 RWC semi
England v France 2003 RWC semi.
Aus v NZ (? year) when Eales potted the winning penalty.
Wales v Aus 2006 (Hook's debut).
Scotland v England 1990 5N
France v Ireland 2000 6N (BOD's hat trick)
Club.
Munster v Wasps 2004 HC semi
Toulouse v Scarlets 2006 HC
Toulouse v Clermont 2010 T14 final
Bath v Glasgow 2009 HC
They were just off the top of our heads in about two minutes.

Ospreys v Australia 2006
Biarritz v Ospreys Heino QF 2010
Cardiff Blues v Leicester Tigers 2009 Heino SF (just for the penalty shoot out)
Ireland v All Blacks 2012 (2nd test...that was a very good match!)
Ireland v South Africa 2009 at Croke Park
Wales v Scotland 2010 (just for the mad ending).
Ireland v Australia - RWC 2011
NZ v France 2011 RWC Final - just for the Haka response.
Ireland v England 2011
Wales v South Africa 2011 RWC
Leinster v Northampton Heino Cup Final 2011
Oh and 2005, 2008 and 2012 Welsh GS finals

You'll want both Bledisloe tests from that year, the Sydney test had 110,000 spectators, the ABs up 21-0 in the 1st 6 minutes, the Aussies leveling by half-time, and an injury time Lomu try to steal the win. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heoO_5MvZ0w (the whole match is on youtube in 9 parts, starting from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAX_zm8G2ag)

Wales/Scotland at the Arms Park in 1984 I think it was. Our first win there for about 175 years and we even scored tries from a distance. All with the added bonus of Bill McLaren and not a Muppet like John Inverdale commentating

Thanks for the suggestions folks.
Cari - there are some good 'uns in that list. And fair play on picking a game the Os lost (Biarritz). I forgot what a good game that was, and most of your picks are what would attract a neutral viewer.

Hound - that's how I was thinking with neutrals in mind. Good matches aren't always reflected in the result either. I also picked one that Wales lost (RWC against the Boks).
I'd also recommend Perpignan v Scarlets Heino pool match and O's v London Irish from 2010 (I think). Just for the cracking Shane Williams try.

Cari.
That's the kind of stuff I'm looking for.
A good game of rugby, and if people don't know the result beforehand, they will want to watch the game to the end.

Morning Cari, morning Ozzy
I am tired this morning! Had a really weird night's sleep. I must have half woken up and then gone back into the same dream about half a dozen times! Kind of remember it but couldn't describe it. It was so detailed and in-depth it was like a film!
Lots of before I head off to my mums.

Very good, very good. I'm still giggling to myself recalling Max Boyce's speech. Old Walls in Gower is a fantastic location and the food, apart from the now infamous lavender sorbet, was excellent. Three of the waiters sang opera songs, which was a bit bizarre, but highly entertaining!
One of my eyes is bloodshot but apart from that i seem fine*

Just looked at the Old Walls website, it looks gorgeous!
Get some vitamin B12 and vitamin C down yer, might stave off the worst of it.

Just had a very proud daddy moment. Hattie got money for her birthday and is going to the toy shop today to spend it. She just announced that she will spend half of it on a toy for her and half on a toy for Darcy so that Darcy isn't sad about not having a birthday.

Ozzy - that's a lovely thing for Hattie to say
I really don't understand the fuss about 50 Shades of Grey either. Erotic literature has been around for aeons, and there's much better written and sexier stuff around if that's what rocks your boat. I think it's a classic case of a big band wagon rolling through. Apparently the book is actually quite mediocre.
