Waiting List
1. pullthestrings
2. Bathite

Welcome to Season 5 of the Aviva Premiership fantasty rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (Ozzy3213) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at it’s discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the matchday 22's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make up of your squad.

Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.

Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.

Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.

  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 3 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Championship/National League bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on it's own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

Foreign transfers will unlimited during the off season and 2 during the season. The exact dates of the two transfer windows during the season is to be confirmed.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

If a released player plays in real life for a team outside of this game he will be deemed to have returned to that team. If not then he will be deemed to have signed for a Championship side. If another manager wants to pick a released player up, they will have to bid for him in the same way as for a foreign or Championship/National League player.

Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.

Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A thread will be put up for managers to name their teams on Thursdays, then on Fridays, managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

At least 10 England qualified players in your matchday 23, and at least 5 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.

Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.

Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£1.5m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Trinder living off a bit of rep but a good player when on form.

Tuilagi out on his a bit for me, rest are a little like for like and could easily jump each other if in good nick.

Think Tuilagis physicality makes up for his lack of rugby ability. JJ has many more strings to his bow its just the physicality with Manu offers that has him ahead.

Wouldn't be surprised to see JJ surpass him.

Can't see it myself Steve, was pretty unimpressed with JJ in SA although very very early days for him.

Tuilagi needs to learn to pass (I know Chris disagrees) and he can be the complete package. His physicality cannot be ignored though, it's a world class attribute.

you cant judge JJ on the SA tour. he got barely any ball and our pack was on the back foot for the majority. we also had farrell at 10 (i think?) and tuilagi at 12, both non-passers!

Haha...you're probably right Nick. I was just hoping for a bit more with the hype he gets on here, still early days for him.

Fancy playing outside Farrell & Tuilgi, you may as well go home.

he has been hugely hyped up.

i can only judge him from AP performances. get him good ball, and he can beat a man very easily. turn of pace is ridiculous.

Time will tell, he looked ok up at Falcons but was mostly outplayed by Helleur. Probably not a god game to judge him on.

I love Tuilagi though, if it's a shoot out at 13 can only see one winner.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Banahan in the list of best centres! Do people rate Barkley, Twelvetrees as neither has made a top 5. Would have Tuilagi and Pisi as best two no13s by some distance at the moment.

There are a load of 12/13s coming through the ranks at the moment - Wasps have a guy called Mitch Tamiau coming through and he looks very good, sure he was on loan to London Welsh last season and could be again this year (either them on Lon Scottish) - Ryan Mills looks quality for Gloucester too.

13s you have JJ, Tuilagi, Lowe, Elliot Daly, Jonny May, Ben Williams and Ben Mosses (both Bath, latter will get a fair share of first team rugby this year) and Quins have 2-3 really good centres as well.

JJ reminds me of a young Guscott in running style, acceleration etc - got to look at ways of getting him and Tuilagi into the same team.

Tuilagi as a rugby player is very average compared to the Worlds best.

In contact however, he is up there with the best in the world, like all his brothers.

Hopefully Tuilagi will carry on developing, for brute power I really don't know if there is anyone stronger than him in a backline - Danny Care made some comments about him when they met up for England training and said he's never known anyone as powerful (neither has Jean de Villiers after the second test!).

His work at the breakdown is very good too, gets a lot of turnovers. I hope Elliot Daly kicks on this season, played half of it last year injured.

That's meant to be one of our best age groups, sure its got Tom Stephenson (saints 12/13), Billy Burns (Gloucester) and a Wasps flanker called Gus Jones in it. Stephenson is meant to get game time this season for Saints, really good player.

Lads,

can you all do me a favour please and pop onto this link and vote for Olley Edwards

http://www.starcentralmagazine.com/voting/2012/07/30/sexiest-women-august-2012/

Feel free to do it daily if you get the chance to, she's a cracking lass and I said I'd help her try to win the comp, so if you can get your mates voting for her as well that would be even better.

No.

Loan players count in the 40 for the team they belong to AND the team they are loaned to.

Strange team in some ways. Defensively rock solid. Cant see them getting much change out of Horne and Faingaa but would have preferred a more creative 12.

AAC in his best position. no cooper even on bench. They were always going to keep barnes there after the way he played against wales.

Surprised Dennis gets the 6 spot also and no Alexander on bench.

Sure you said AAC better at FB or 13 as he lacked pace?!?!

I think they're easing Cooper back and Barnes deserves to start. Dennis has had a great S15

Never rated AAC as a 13. Always say you should play him back 3. He lacks pace but is great in the air and defensively fantastic. a real consistent player. he also is experienced and offers high ball capability where Kurtley really struggles with the high ball.

He is surprisingly strong. Check your feedback for this weeks game i mention it there also.

I think versatile players often never have the career they should do by being shunted around to fill positions all the time

bad news pete.
Hala'ufia has done his cruciates, out for 6 months at least.

massive blow for irish, such an important player for us.

huge chance for Alex Gray to make the 8 shirt his own.

It looked bad when he went down on Friday night nick. I have to say I am not as worried about it as I would have been a few weeks back. Alex Gray was excellent on Friday night. Looks as if he has bulked up a bit from last year, but looks comfortable with the extra weight and has not lost any pace because of it. I think he could be the young player that really breaks through for us this year, and he has a fantastic opportunity to now.

Gray could be quality, big chance for him.

15/13 AAC best position imo, always look quality when he plays there. You used to say he was better at 13/15 as he lacked pace?!?! People obviously change there mind

He looked very skillful but a bit powderpuff last year Pooly, but I reckon he is a stone or so heavier now. I reckon he would have got lots of gametime even with Hala'ufia fit as Brian Smith seems to really rate him. I am actually quite excited about seeing what he can do this season.

You got any other youngsters up there that we can nick? Wink

I suppose Trev can always go there also, but I was looking forward to having both Trev and Hoff in the same backrow.

Gray does look a lot bigger, he lacked physicality last year. He has a great rugby mind and has good hands so could be the complete player. hopefully.

I wonder if BS will recall Jebb Sinclair from Western Province. Numbers wise we could quickly start running a bit short in the back row if we pick up any more injuries.

I used to think back 3 but would probably now say wing.

15 is such an explosive position theses days and one of the only positions where you get some space. Gas has become essential at FB. It is needed for wing also but AAC as a big strong defensively immaculate wing works.

FB has changed from being a primarily defensive position to a primarily attacking one.

Your view of SBW has changed pretty dramatically this season. you were never a fan when i had him Rolling Eyes

to be fair he had only just switched back to union when you had him.
i then got him off you and he really came strong.

think i offloaded him at the right time to pooly, although he will come back so its more of a long term benefit for pooly.

I'd keep Sinclair out there for a while, unless we get another injury.

At 6 you have Danaher, Gibson, Sisi Garvey or Evans if need be.
At 7 Treviranus, Gibson
At 8 Gray, Treviranus.
