Welcome to Season 5 of the Aviva Premiership fantasty rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (Ozzy3213) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at it’s discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the matchday 22's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.
Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 3 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Championship/National League bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on it's own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
Foreign transfers will unlimited during the off season and 2 during the season. The exact dates of the two transfer windows during the season is to be confirmed.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
If a released player plays in real life for a team outside of this game he will be deemed to have returned to that team. If not then he will be deemed to have signed for a Championship side. If another manager wants to pick a released player up, they will have to bid for him in the same way as for a foreign or Championship/National League player.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A thread will be put up for managers to name their teams on Thursdays, then on Fridays, managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your matchday 23, and at least 5 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£1.5m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Have a good break mate.
Do people think that Tom Croft could ever become a second row for England? Given the change in how locks are playing these days? Was having a chat about this last night, with a Saints fan, who basically went along the lines of Tom Wood is the new Richard Hill, he has to play, he's amazing etc, etc.
He's also been speaking up Teimana Harrison's chances of playing for England by the 6Nations! Apparently he's getting better and better and shone against Leinster last night when Saints ran in 8 tries!
Pretty much also said that Dom Waldouck is the answer to the England 12 shirt.
He's quite a big fan of Saints you see! But in all honesty I think he could be right abotu Waldouck, he's been so unlucky with injuries and Saints could make him into a massive option for England. From the sounds of it he will be played at 12 for the season and next to Pisi would say they could form a brilliant partnership in the AP and HC.

The last time I saw Waldouck, he was far to lightweight to be effective as an international centre. The likes of SBW, Nonu, Steyn, Roberts, Davies etc would run through him.

Re: Homepage
Waldouck is a very good tackler, was Wasps defence captain and drives people back in the tackle when playing 12. Saints coaches have a way of improving good players and making the international standard, think that will happen with Waldouck, a lot better passer, distributor and runner than say Barritt, JTH - just not as good defensively.
Would have Wood as one of England's best backrows, sure he would have been captain if he didnt get injured at the key time - really rate him.

Waldouck isn't big enough. Got to be a hell of a player to make it in an international midfield as a smallish guy and he isn't close to it.

Re: Homepage
Wood is quality.....Hill he isn't, lazy comparison.
Waldouck has hardly played for 2 years and wasn't great before that, bizarre to tout him as England 12.
Barritt, JTH, 36, Allen are much better than Waldouck

Hartley, Wood, Kruger, Ashton, Foden, Lawes...look at how many they lose during international windows, screws them over each season.
Saints coaching is fantastic, Mallinder done a cracking job since taking over there.
Think Waldouck will be a player to keep an eye on this season, very underrated in my eyes.

Wood was already a Saxon, they can't take credit for Kruger either.
Saints do exactly the same as Tigers, they take good players from lesser clubs. As theyre a good side playing top 4 rugby.

Re: Homepage
Not sure you can class any of them as good players who Saints turned into internationals. Lawes came through the academy and was touted as being an England player from a young age. Odds are he would have made it whichever academy he came through. Liekwise Hartley, who was brought from Worcester as an academy player and might have flourished just as well there. I'm not convinced that Ashton or Foden were coached into being internationals either.

Re: Homepage
I'd disagree, think Saints have an incredible coaching setup from academy level upwards, think they have the best manager in Jim Mallinder and they've suffered because of this. Think they get players with potential and make them more complete players.
Ashton was obviously a top finisher in league, but you'd have to think the Saints coaching team got him into using those skills and making him a top international wing.
Look at how quickly Calum Clark and James Craig developed after signing from Leeds.
Have a lot of admiration for the way that Saints are run as a club, wish Wasps were run in the same way - was always so annoying as a supporter of them after they won the HC the second time and just were unable to build on that in anyway.
Changing topics - does anyone have any good best man jokes? I've got a speech to do next weekend and looking for a few one liners!

Re: Homepage
Pete, Farrell is by far your best option at 10 I think. He gets too much stick on here when he's actually a very good player.
Great goalkicker, great defensively and if you have a bit of creativity outside him then he's fine. He just needs Sarries to decide exactly where to play him and stop moving him 10, 12 and 13!
Think he would certainly be good for the style of rugby I'd imagine you'd play.
Lancaster seems to rate him as our best no10, and you'd hope he can't be wrong!

Really? I think you'll find Farrell was dropped to the bench in place of Flood in SA.
Butch for me is a class act and can your backline going, Farrell would struggle at this.
All opinions end of the day, I've always struggled with Farrell, he's just too limiting. He needs to develop this season really.

Re: Homepage
Never really liked Flood, he's a good player but for me never consistent enough at the top level. He sometimes doesn't take on tough calls, think it was the playoffs in the AP last season when he bottled taking a drop goal to win the game 3-4 times and Geordan Murphy had to step up.
Can see why people criticise Farrell's attack, but creative 12 and that should sort itself out. Farrell's kicking, defence etc is a great asset in close games, but at same time wont allow England to beat the big three teams!
If you could combine Flood's attacking skills with Farrell's mentality then you'd have a top international.
Do you think the RFU can splice them?

It was just a league game. Can't sum up one player in one instance, Flood is easily our best option at 10 and I'd say that if I had him or not.
You state Farrell has great defence & kicking but he has little past that. FLood is currently much better at all aspects of fly half play.
I'm not looking to get into this really, we've done it a million times and neither of our opinions will change, totally pointless.

Depends on Henson and humphreys form. Humph still concussed so might not play for Irish for a bit.

Re: Homepage
Right lads I'm away for a month or two so unsure of time on.
I should be good for teams and predo's.......just may take a while to get back to offers after tonight.
Have fun and give Chris some stick (he'll be lost without me)

Check out the Top 14 Arry. Some very good 8s plying their trade there. Surprised Chris Masoe hasn't been snatched up by someone been immense the last few years at Castres and snapped up by Toulon now

Yeah he is but you could get a year or two out of him while waiting for a young 8 to come through somewhere. Same with Kronje at Metro

Antoinie Claasens is a class act for brive but dont know how much he will be seen by some on here. He is up there with the best 8s in the top 14.
