The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Antananarivo Arms, Madagascar
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Antananarivo Arms Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Madagascar, where 35,000 raucous fans recently watched the home side upset Namibia in a 110-point thriller.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the Madagascan team war dance, Japan/NRL-bound Sonny-Bill Williams, Bradley Wiggins and the prematurely-retired Mark Boucher above the bar.

Morning all, and a belated happy burtday to the Dreamer.
Today is gay pride day in work, they have a rainbow arch on the way in and there are balloons all over the canteen. Activities are planned throughout the day, should be interesting.

I know a little about the sport and from what I know France are the top team but it might have been at the last Olympics or the one before where Iceland got to the final and a national holiday was declared so everyone could watch it.
I do enjoy watching it each time I have done and played a little of it as part of my course this year and really enjoyed that.

What a bunch of "Terry Fookwits"
I had worked through my current agent back in 2005 and again in 2008, so they had a bank account for my company on file (this account was closed in 2009). However, I had given them the new company account details when I started this new assignment. My May invoice was paid to the ‘old’ account, so I had to ring them up and get them to rectify. This they did and they said they’d updated their details. Checking the company bank account this morning I noticed the payment for the June invoice had not appeared. Yep, you’ve guessed it – it was paid to the ‘old’ company account .

So they told you that they'd updated your details, but didn't inform you that they'd then de-updated them. Marvellous!

I should have mentioned, they're arranged in a rainbow fasion around the place. It's all about the pride parade in Belfast.

There's something in the air. Just had the agenda for the next West Wales Law Society meeting. Item six "the Society's position on gay marriage".
The Secretary is in his 70's. More past presidents (retired old codgers) attend the meetings than paying members and the latest new member is 68! I havent been for three years, but I just have to see this...

I wish they would do that kind of thing where I work just to see the effect it would have on some of my colleagues. I would crack up laughing, a few of them are virtually rednecks they are so homophobic. I'd be 100% for camping it up

Morning all, hope we're all grand on this dull Thursday. Willser, chin up all have them bad games even if it's only 5 a side. You'll focking tear into them the next day.
Munsty, handball is one of those sports that you become interested in while the Olympics are on. I like it though, pity Gaelic handball isn't in the games we would win it more than likely. Speaking of the Olympics, great documentary by RTE on drugs/supplements even talks about how this is an issue in underage rugby (last year I think the IRFU started drug testing the underage national sides, with a view to do it to more sides) if the Irish people are interested, don't know if it's worldwide, here it is: http://www.rte.ie/player/#!v=10038091
Micko, you could have done with this for your day today:

Let me tell you, there are plenty of people in here who are shifting uncomfortably in their seats this morning. Someone came up to me at breakfast (wearing a pink shirt, i'm wearing a blue one) and said "yeah, well i might be wearing pink, but i don't see pink on that rainbow flag do you? I see blue alright". I replied with, "me thinks the lady doth protest too much", he scarpered fairly lively.

My arms aren't too bad, Thomond, it's my thighs. It's because I hadn't really done any exercise for ages, once I get used to it I'll be fine.
I don't mind people disapproving of the 'gay way' but I object to outright hatred of it. Live and let live is a simple enough concept.

It's mainly just lifting and twisting with them isn't it? I wasn't at a class or anything but did some exercises with it recently. Easy enough to feic up your back with them.

That documentary was fascinating. I think the last bit on the rugby where they had Tony Ward and that doctor was the best bit. Both are obviously pretty well spoken and really put that argument across really well. The health of these people is way above them being the biggest and best.

You'd need to have proper instruction on the different moves, Thomond. But once you know what you're doing, I suppose you don't need classes or anything.

Sorry to be pedantic but there is no such thing as drugs/supplements. There are drugs and supplements and they are not the same.
On a related note theres a panorama tonight I think about how skimmed milk is more effective than many protein supplements and people are getting ripped off by expensive products.

Depends on how you define drugs.

Well I don't define drugs, I go by the definition provided by the scientific and medical community and in terms of sporting legality the relevent governing bodies too.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Antananarivo Arms, Madagascar
Not really Thomond they all have to go through very strict testing to ensure they don't contain banned substances. Its not in any mainstream suppliment brands interest to contain a illegal substances as they rely on athletes and sports to endorse their brands (even if 3/4s of athletes are actually on banned substances but thats another story).
In my humble opinion some people are very naive about this. Suppliments do very little, if anything, to enhance sports performance or recovery. They aren't illegal but are expensive and mosty useless.
Drugs and HGH on the other hand do enhance performance considerably and I have very little doubt that the vast majority of professional athletes across every sport are using these amongst other things. Obviously I have no evidence of that other than anecdotal.
The point is the former is not illegal and in most cases not dangerous so shouldn't be confused with the latter.
One of the biggest enhancers is caffeine.

I never said they were illegal or anything, I'd watch the documentary if you can very interesting. Supplements can contain pretty much anything a good deal of nutritionists and experts in the area would tell you that. Are they effective at times they can be for muscle growth and recovery, there's probably the placebo effect there too.
