well after the terrible frustrating long ball defend defend mcleash season ,villa have now a good prospect in Paul Lambert .  when Martin oNeil left i was at first gutted like many villa fans but then when u add up all the average players he bought  along with high wages then u can see why learner decided enough was enough .so Martin walked out .  next come along gerard houllier  a few weeks late in the season . lots of villa fans didnt take to him  because of the early results but i liked the way we played under him and when he bought Darren bent and the players settled in his style of play we rocketed up the league .even  beating Liverpool in revenge after that 4  nil  beating and his  infamous badly chosen words that didnt sit well with villa fans .poor health parted another manager . then come Alex .no more needs to be said on that .   so now we have Paul . a few good signings come in and i for one now feels we can compete  in cup games and perhaps a eighth position in league .

Was surprised when Lambert was named our manager.

Pleased with the choice.
Looking forward to the new season happy to leave the old one way behind.
Few signings already, they have all played apart in pre season. Good to see Fonz score, hope Gabby can get back to his old form.
Great to see Guzan have a change of heart.
Was impressed with Weimann last season, hope he can continue his form.
Maybe give another youngster a run out in pre season (Drennan).
With the good players we have, I'm sure Lambert will get them playing to their potential.

I hope to be at Upton Park on the 18th and as many games as I can after that.
A new season ahead a new manager, the doom and gloom around Villa Park has gone(lets hope it stays that way).

We were a laughing stock last season, with a new manager getting the best out of the players, i'm pretty confident we can do well next season.

I still think you will struggle this season, Lambert adjusting to the pressure of what a higher club brings and its fans expectations. With Norwich any place above 18th was fine, with Villa they would be expecting a top half finish, even to get into Europe maybe.

Hey guys, wanted to ask something. I'm currently managing Villa in the realistic prem league game over in the sports section. I really need to bring in a right midfielder so any suggestions or any names that Villa have been linked with IRL.

The reason I'm asking that is, if they are link to a player IRL, the chances are I have a better shot at signing them. OK Thanks for any input.

I always knew deep down Lambert would leave us at some point. I just thought he might go next season tbh.

He will do great for you, he is a winner born and bred. You are my tips to be the surprise package next season OK

Milner is another who hasnt done as well as i thought he would.

I hope our new signings(so far), do well and get decent game time.

Also wondering whats happening with Makoun?
Lambert bringing him back, or keeping him on loan, havnt heard anything.

Collins has re joined West Ham.

Thought he was a decent player.
With Vlaar joining, It was on the cards.

Talks of Hutton leaving by the end of the week, (lets hope so), maybe Stoke.

so does that mean lahjij or whatever his name is will come into the 1st team rb slot. promising player, perhaps lambert will want a mix of experience and youth to his villa team.

I would hope Lichaj gets a run out at rb.

Big fan of his.

Also Herd can play there aswell.

Baker and Clark can cover cb, with Collins and Cuellar gone.

Hopefully looking at a striker.

I see Randy Lerner has entered negotiations to sell the Browns for upwards of $1B.
Wonder if he'll spend any of the proceeds in Birmingham?

Not the best saturday.

Passed it round well ata times.

Need another forward.

Bent didnt get much service.

Thought Vlaar played well, our only real shot on target.

Very early days, not surprised at the result, West Ham first game back in the prem, at home first up, was always going to be a tricky start.
Typical Collins was man of the match.

Big game for us tonight.

Will be tough though. Norwich doing well.

If we can get past Norwich tonight, anything can happen in the semi's.

Then a trip to anfield Saturday, who knows.

Chelsea away and spurs home, then Wigan home, remaining games of 2012.

Been a poor season so far, thought we would be doing a bit better.
Hopefully bent can get a bit of a run as well.

Woooooooooooooooo.

Didn't expect that result.

Great stuff, Norwich have been doing well this season.

Sorry for bent going off injured, but Weimann has been class this season.
Did well last season and has only got better. Linked up well with bent eke tonight. Want to see those 2 up front now.

Semi final now, 2 legs, would hope for Bradford if they can get past arsenal.
Bring it on. Very Happy

Well that was poor viewing.

Fair play to Bradford and Duke in particular.

Could have been 2 up before they scored.

Defence is so bad.
Clarke, Bannan, Delph, urine poor.
If I wanted to watch clowns I would have gone to the circus.
We need a quality midfielder abd centre back asap.

God knows whats going to happen with Bent, off injured again.
Should have scored with that header.

Lambert better sort them out before saturday. Massive game agains Saints, i'm going up to it and the second leg.

2 goals behind now. Can we turn it around, doubt it. Cant keep a clean sheet and cant see us scoring 3/4/5.

Can see Villa scoring a few but the confidence of the defence is shot so can see a few being conceded. Could be another classic like the Blackburn semi, hopefully with the same outcome. An early sending off will really spice it up.

Fair play to Bradford but Villa could have been out of sight at various stages of the game.

Think we need a balance between the two, McLeish did s0d all but defend, Lambert does s0d all but attack - would probably end up getting a team that does neither.

As much as being a Norwich fan I despise Paul Lambert for what he done, I still maintain he will be the right man to keep Villa up this year.

And his teams don't know how to defend. Trust me on that one Laugh

Problem is the squad. Far too inexperienced. Exemplified by Delph's tackle in the 92nd minute.
