The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Games of the XXX Olympiad Pub, Stratford
First topic message reminder :
The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Games of the XXX Olympiad Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
This week the pub has set up in the heart of the Olympic Precinct at Stratford, where we can watch the world's greatest athletes do their thing and strut their stuff during the best Modern Olympics Games ever.
"Citius, Altius, Fortius" has been the motto for the modern Olympic Games since their beginning in 1896 - and let's hope it stays that way.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Jessica Ennis, Kieran Behan, Oscar Pistorius, Bradley Wiggins, Leryn Franco, Michelle Jenneke, Victoria Pendleton, Aaron Cruden, Katie Taylor, Misty May, Usain Bolt, Mo Farah, Krisztián Berki (on that horsey thingy) and the the Winner of the Gold Medal at Wimbledon - Andy Murray.

Olympic wha?
McIlroy just left the field at the US PGA for dead. He's won it with 8 shots. The great bandwagon of sport trundles on, Olympics or no Olympics, and we we love it so!

I'm just so proud of London right now. We have a whole load of shoite going on in some parts of town, but I hope the Games have shown that it's possible for everyone to get along and have fun.
The Paralympics are up next. I have seen several videos of Paralympians, and been lucky enough to have heard two speak personally.
Inspiring stuff.
Night folks.

+100 The best Games ever, imo and that's including my home town bias. A superb Closing Ceremony too with only a touch of cringe... which I didn't really mind.
It's all over too quickly but the memories will remain for a lifetime. So many highlights (especially for GB) it's hard to pinpoint one above all those inspiring performances we've witnessed.
Any suggestions for a location of the new Pub?
I was thinking Rio de Janeiro... or maybe Rosario or Mendoza (if they haven't already been done) or maybe somewhere exotic and isolated like Papeete (Tahiti), Avarua (Cook Is.) or perhaps somewhere else like Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Habana or Honolulu?
Also, any nominations for wall pictures are more than welcome....

It was a great games. I just wish I could've watched more of it on UK coverage, as Canadian coverage is pretty appalling (probably not for Canadians though).
As pleased as I was for Dai Greene, I wish Mo Farah was captain of the team, as he was always the more likely gold medalist. Obviously Jess Ennis for the Women was a great choice.
Went to watch The Dark Knight Rises again this aft, but this time in IMAX. Never watched a film in IMAX before, but it was fantastic.

Mornings lads.
Missed the closing ceremony last night but heard Jessie J was on it, so I’m pretty happy with that.

I just read that too, Mick. I can't stand her. I forgot all about the golf, and the Charity Shield.

I'm fairly certain Freddie was turning in his grave last night, when Jessie J was on. Fine outfit though.

I watched The Birds last night, it was good but it started at nine so I fell asleep after an hour or so of it. I woke up and there were birds chasing these kids down a hill, I was very confused by it all. Then when I went to bed I could hear a gnat flying around the room. I turned on the light but I couldn't find the fecker. So I slept with headphones in my ears and I'm fortunate that I didn't strangle myself on the cord during the night.
