Re: 606v2's World's Best Players
Please! Some players' names, granted, are difficult to spell. But Brad Thorn is not one of them. He's famous enough and a good enough player to have his name spelled correctly. Spell Reuben Thorne in whichever way you deem fit. But please don't confuse the two!
Kieran Read is another player. The reason he tackles your players so hard and takes the wind out of them and runs good attacking lines is because he's maddened by how so many people spell his name wrong. Cut out the mistakes and you'll find he's just an average player.

Ah now, Read is a very good player and deservedly grabs the number 8 spot on the best players team, Besides who spells it ridicously wrong?

Re: 606v2's World's Best Players
AWOP wrote Thorne, I merely copied it. Although I should have noticed that anyway. And i'm one of the few non-Kiwi's to actually spell your no.8s name correctly. Same can be said for a former Springbok hooker (this goes out to the ones who are convinced his surname is SmitH).

Going to be tough for ABs if they aren't even allowed to select NZ born players now.

Re: 606v2's World's Best Players
Drsambo their names are not fit to mention and the temptation to spell their own names incorrectly would be too great. Suffice to say I have seen Read's name spelled Reid, Reed and Ried.
Thankfully Carl Hayman is no longer an AB because he often had his name spelled with an s at the end.
AWOP is entitled to spell Brad Thorn's name wrong for reasons that I'm not at liberty to explain. For the rest, there is no excuse. I can grind my teeth at the incorrect usage of it's and it's, looser and loser, your and you're ad nausuem but I will not have the name of one of the most professional players of the modern era sullied. Piri Weepooh is fine. He's used to much meaner names like KFC 15 piece Bucket but don't f**k with Brad. Would you really explain to his face the reason why you bastardised the spelling of his name?

I'm still gutted that Thorn retired before he had an on the field brawl with Bakkies Botha. Some spectacle that would have been.

Sorry. I will make the effort to get it right and not kick off a minor war.
As punishment I will re-type is out 10 times with correct spelling.
I was wrong to say Brad Thorn is better than POC. I meant Bradley Carnegie Thorn is a better lock than Paul Jeremiah O'Connell.

Re: 606v2's World's Best Players
I'm afraid you already have caused controversy revealing Brad Thorn's (tough name Brad Thorn) middle name as Carnegie. Someone might be on the turps and go up to him and point out that's a rubbish middle name you've got Thorn with an e on the end.
Brad Thorn did take his middle name literally when he said What's the best way to becoming an AB?... practice.

Re: 606v2's World's Best Players
I like to think Ried was a typo. Typos I don't mind we all make them no matter how fast we type. Simple grammar gets to me though. Kid I take it annoys you as you're multilingual and get cheesed off if someone makes simple grammatical mistakes in their native tongue (or keyboard)?
A real pr*ck would correct ad nauseam
I'll be behind Brad saying "Get him!" lol. It's no Szarszewski (That right? I didn't check) so Thorn should be fine. It also means of or relating to Thor the god of thunder so to paraphrase Samuel L Jackson in Die Hard With A Vengeance "Don't f*ck with him of you'll get a lightning bolt shoved up yo' @ss".

No like the Hall AWOP. With an e. Sometimes you need to leave them out and others you don't. The English, it's very complicated.

Re: 606v2's World's Best Players
Haha disney, I can get away with ad nauseam as Latin is dead to me.
I'd like to think you were showing how easy typos can be by calling me Kid. Actually Kia the Kid has a nice alliteration about it, as indeed does kia kaha.
The one I'm willing to concede flexibility on is Richard McCaw. I personally prefer Richie Rich as we have a wealth of sevens in NZ rugby and McCaw seems to ironically turn down offers of money to head offshore and top up his early retirement saving plan. Some people write it as Ritchie as in son of a ritch that fudda mukka is laying over our side of the ruck again! Each to their own as it's not really the name on his passport.
Hugh is Richie's middle name in case you were wondering as in at the end of the game I thought he was Hughe (silent h).

Re: 606v2's World's Best Players
Muliaina is pretty tough.
That was brilliant timing of my fingers to insert a stuff up. Sorry Kia
Latin dead eh? As a language on its own yeah I agree unless you're a doc/lawyer but I love how it spread in different forms across the world. Being able to make educated guesses on words in Portugese and Italian due to speaking two Latin based languages can be bloody handy.
I hate people putting a T in Richie.
I remember a joke about Grizz Wyllie. He was naming an All Black team in the early 90s. 15, Kieran Crowley. 14, John Kirwan. 13, Joe Stanley. 12, Bernie McCahill. 11, Va'ai...Via...Va'a...oh bugger it. Terry Wright.

That was pretty much how I spoke Spanish to begin with. Just made a Spanish word from French. Often quite close although doesn't help you with Arab borrowings like izquierda. Gaucha sounds like a Basque architect!
I remember cringing at the stuffy old professor at my graduation. He was butchering the Polynesian names and then his tongue exploded. Had me in stitches but luckily no one else was hurt.
I'll get me coat.
