Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at it’s discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the matchday 22's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.
Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 3 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Championship/National League bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on it's own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
Foreign transfers will unlimited during the off season and 2 during the season. The exact dates of the two transfer windows during the season is to be confirmed.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
If a released player plays in real life for a team outside of this game he will be deemed to have returned to that team. If not then he will be deemed to have signed for a Championship side. If another manager wants to pick a released player up, they will have to bid for him in the same way as for a foreign or Championship/National League player.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A thread will be put up for managers to name their teams on Thursdays, then on Fridays, managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your matchday 23, and at least 5 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£1.5m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Re: Homepage
Lindsay started, for a 24/25 year old I don't think he's ever going to come on strong enough to be a top player - strong as an ox, but throwing is off and decision making not great.
When Mujati came on our scrum gave a penalty at every hit - just got smashed time and time again.
Think Wasps have come on very strong in every other area, Masi has made the backline pretty classy and when Jones plays at no10 we have a lot more direction about us - considering our back three after 20mins was an average of 20years old, our whole back row at the end of the game was also 20 years old it wasn't that bad for us - this season will be a learning curve I think - though a tighthead for Christmas wouldnt go amiss!

Lindsay for me is garbage. Never get the point of him. I know pooly is a fan of him but I could name 8 English hookers better than him

Agree with you on that Mat, I'm normally very biased with Wasps players, but don't like Lindsay.
Was very impressed with Haywood at Saints when he came on - though I guess it helps when you play beside Mujati and Tiny!
Hopefully will see Palmer and Lawes back for England in the AIs with Wood, Robshaw and Morgan in the backrow.

Won't see Palmer/Lawes combo Chris, got destroyed at lineout as a pair in 6N. Need a lineout specialist in there with Parling/Robson obvious choice.
Really like Lindsay, type of player that would thrive on Int stage. Throwing is better than gets picked on here for. I'd love to see him around Int set-up along with Gray.

Haha.....plenty there!
Hartley, Gray, Mears better basics without doubt. I just think Lindsays work around the park is top. Could be coached into top hooker, just think he has that bit about him that not every player has. Hard to describe but I just rate him.

Re: Homepage
Lindsay on international stage, he's a possible at Saxons level but he's a very long way from international standard - he's a good carrier, but I don't think he's got the rugby brain, and as a Wasps fan I much prefer it when Thomas starts.
Think you underate Lawes in the lineout Pooly, he stole 5-6 balls last night from Wasps, and if you had Wood in the backrow then he is more than capable of leading the lineout - Lawes athleticism is unreal. For me neither Parling nor Robson are going to be top internationals, so I'd rather look for players that by 2015 could be - for me that is bringing Lawes through now, and trying to find him a long-term partner - Garvey impresses me each time I see him for Irish, Savage at Gloucester looks very good - if we can get our backrow with a lineout leader then Lawes is a great person to have there - he destroyed Wasps lineout yesterday.

Our line out was ripped to shreds with Palmer, Lawes & Croft in it (Croft is stonger than Wood here imo)

I just see Lawes as a strong lineout option these days, last night was a prime example of how much he has come on, might not be the best for attacking lineouts, but defensively there can't be that many better than him - 5-6 steals against Palmer and Wentzel.
Also really rate Wood, one of my favourite backrowers in Europe - one of the players I'd always want to get in my squad in this.

Results and scorers are done, and will get the table done properly this evening, but it looks like this…
1. Tigers 20pts
2. Saints 19pts
3. Quins 18pts
4. Falcons 17pts
5. Irish 16pts
6. Sharks 15pts
7. Gloucester 10pts
8. Bath 10pts
9. Welsh 8pts
10. Wasps 7pts
11. Worcester 6pts
12. Saracens 2pts
That makes for some massive games next week before we break for the European games…
Falcons vs. Quins (4th v 3rd)
Gloucester vs. Bath (7th vs. 8th)
Irish vs. Saints (5th vs. 2nd)
Sharks vs. Tigers (6th vs. 1st)
Saries vs. Welsh (12th vs. 9th)
Wasps vs. Worcester (10th vs. 11th)
I predict right now that it is going to be a seriously difficult week for predicting next weekend!!!!

Flood played well Pooly, but still has game management issues for me, especially when he plays behind a really dominant pack. He shows moments of class, but then seems to drift out of the game a bit - was passing very nicely today - Matt Smith motm for me, really good club player for Tigers.
Apparently Youngs and Tait both available next week if they get through an 'A' League game.
Does anyone know when Argentina v NZ is on?

Played pretty well Matt. Kicking was poor from hand and tee but he ran well and got some good passes off. Looked pretty raw but he'll only improve.

Odd he was poor from tee and hand as his kicking is immense. Booms them over from 60m. Must be nerves. He is a big unit for a ten and great at taking it to the line and tackling.
Out of every player I have bought he is the one I have been most excited about

Pienaar took over kicking duties after he fluffed a few, was a good call from JdV as it didn't really knock him too much.
Made a great break at one point, really ran well. SA dominated most aspects, Louw & Vermeulen were great. Aus missed Pocock and Beale lived off really poor ball from their pack.

Didnt watch the game, but sounds like the Aussies have really been struggling this year - is it still issues with their pack?

You getting a little bit worried about the league Nick? When do a lot of your players come back from injury, as soon as Corbs is back you should be fine.
Thought Farrell was very good today, especially considering he was up against Evans - first half his passing was spot on, he's never going to be a running fly half, but if you get creative players around him...
Healy wrote a good piece for the Rugby Paper today saying that Ford should go and play for Saints, as he's most all round fly half in terms of talent, but needs game time to develop that.

Re: Homepage
Would be a good call on Ford but he's still young.
Putting creative players around Farrell would make no difference, he is who is and as a pivot dictates play. He just doesn't play flat to the line or bring players into the game. He threw some serious hospital passes today, I don't think his passing was spot on at all, it was poor.
I'd prefer Burns to brought in, he has much more of an all round game and really gets the backs going.

Think if you brought in Burns you'd have to bring in Twelvetrees to play alongside him, guess it all depends on what Lancaster wants as his tactics, whether it is a solid base around 10 or creative 10. Good call though for Burns - is he in the Saxons?
For me if you have Farrell you can't play Barritt - look at how many tries England scored when Wilko played alongside Greenwood, they played some great rugby - having Greenwood's creativity made a huge difference to Wilko - sadly no one at the moment is close to either Wilko's or Greenwood's ability.

You've got some very good players to come back in, can't see you being anywhere close to a relegation fight.
Looking like it could be Welsh v Sale fighting it out at the bottom - Worcester seem to have a bit more about them this year to avoid it, their pack looks very good.

I don't think Worcester are safe , there quite far from it. Welsh have took the Leeds approach and have a monster pack with a points scoring machine at 10 in Gordon Ross.
Be interesting to see what they do with Gavin Henson as it would be a crime to drop Ross the way he's been for them.

Re: Homepage
Welsh have got quite a small pack Driver in comparison to Exeter/Leeds and others in the AP - they try and play with a bit of speed and harass the opposition - in a lot of games they got battered in the Championship from Autumn - early Spring and then the weather got good and allowed them to play a high tempo game.
Can see the same happening again this year when the weather changes. THough got to give them credit for how they have played so far, really surprised me.
Worcester have made some very good additions to their pack, I can't see them struggling this year, they wont be pushing top6 but can't see them getting relegated - Schofield is proving a great signing, also like Blair Cowan in the backrow.

It's not how big you are as a forward , Welsh are full of technically good players such as Briggsy at hooker looked a star at Sale Sharks.
