Waiting List
1. pullthestrings
2. Bathite

Welcome to Season 5 of the Aviva Premiership fantasty rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (Ozzy3213) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at it’s discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the matchday 22's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make up of your squad.

Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.

Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.

Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.

  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 3 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Championship/National League bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on it's own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

Foreign transfers will unlimited during the off season and 2 during the season. The exact dates of the two transfer windows during the season is to be confirmed.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

If a released player plays in real life for a team outside of this game he will be deemed to have returned to that team. If not then he will be deemed to have signed for a Championship side. If another manager wants to pick a released player up, they will have to bid for him in the same way as for a foreign or Championship/National League player.

Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.

Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A thread will be put up for managers to name their teams on Thursdays, then on Fridays, managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

At least 10 England qualified players in your matchday 23, and at least 5 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.

Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.

Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£1.5m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Stranger things have happened.

Henson to Sarries , Montgomery to Newport. Berbatov to Fulham....

Anyway my thoughts on the england lock pecking order

If we are to go for the traditional 4 & 5 route with enforcer and lineout operator.

4s would be in the following order: Palmer , Lawes , Garvey , Kitchener , Launchbury

5s would be: Parling , Robson , Launchbury , Gaskell , Kennedy.

Berbatov to Fulham!?!? thats not strange, we are a top class club these days!!

For me...

4. Lawes, Garvey, Launchbury, Palmer, Kitchener
5. Robson, Parling, Kennedy (no chance of him getting picked), Gaskell

The RFU has unveiled a new performance academy that will see 30 handpicked players receiving more tailored support to help them progress.

The academy, sponsored by BMW, will see players from across the existing age-grade teams - the U16s, U18s, U20s and those aged over 20 and on the verge of breaking into the senior squad - spending time with various specialist coaches.

The RFU will work alongside the player and their club coach to develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP) to help them realise their potential ahead of the 2015 World Cup.

"The BMW Performance Academy will help equip our promising young players with the skills needed to succeed at the highest level," England boss Stuart Lancaster said. "We're working hard in conjunction with their club coaches to give them the individual support they need both on and off the pitch as we work towards the Rugby World Cup in 2015 and beyond."

The partnership will also see BMW providing the academy players with personal development training, seminars alongside their sporting ambassadors, work experience and driver training

Should be a great thing for players in specialist positions. I know they already send the lineout coach out to work on Youngs and Grey.

I am sure that this is what SCW asked for in 2003 - it is very good news though, the England national team should be a top 2 team considering the resources and number of players we have available compared to everyone else.

Been impressed so far this season at how many young English players are getting game time for their clubs this year, Sarries play about 5-6 under 22's in their team at the moment

Whilst Saracens playing a group of youngsters is commendable, I question how much it is benefiting their development at present. At international level you get nowhere playing the Saracens way, the game has moved on, as Quins are showing in England, and as Leinster have shown in the Heineken Cup.

Dynamism, pace, power and offloading are the name of the game going forward, and the youngsters at Saracens clearly are not going to be buying into that with the way that they currently play.

Amazed I am saying this but Sarries are missing Venter's day to day coaching - they play such a dull style - I think it is ok in the pack as it is going to help guys like Vunipola no end, but their backline is so stagnant. Also don't think it helps with their squad rotation system.

Quins are really starting to show how rugby should be played. Think the AP put so much emphasis on defence and it made the game a little boring, but offloading like Quins do has changed the game and ifother teams don't copy their style then they'll get left behind.

I think if you want to bring the yougsters on properly you have to play the widest , highest tempo and most dynamic style of rugby you can. That way you cover just about every skill rather than just focusing on one aspect of there game.

Dave Wilson has been put into the EPS to replace Stevens, with Mako Vunipola making the Saxons - am sure Mako would look the oldest in the England squad if he was called up, he looks about 40 already!

Wilson is ok. He's steady and solid. He's never going to set the world alight and be dynamic around the pitch or breakdown as a lot of modern props are, but he does what it says on the tin (for tightheads), he anchors the scrum.

At present it is about right that it's between him and PDJ as back up tighthead being Cole for England, but ultimately if England want to kick on then they need to find someone else who can combine the traditional skills of a tighthead, with the modern day requirement of being like and extra flanker around the park.

With Jantjies covering 10 from the bench and Morne out of the 23 altogether. That is some fall from grace. Midfield not finalised yet for the Boks apparently though. Will be JdV and Frans Steyn if Sten is fit, if not JdV in to 12 and Taute starting, with JdJ coming onto the bench.

Pooly, that's what has been announced. If Steyn makes it then Taute is on the bench, if not he will start with JdJ coming onto the bench.

I was surprised as well, as although Taute is a good 13 I think at this stage he is a better full back.

Seen them in states and a top piece of kit. I use my ordinary kindle all the time as i read a lot so to have one that kind of combines my IPAD fuctionality into it is a bonus.

I got Mulipola to have a hair cut and it seems to have sped the guy up a lot! It was the 80metre run in for his try that impressed me last week - boy has serious wheels.

Tigers do find some cracking foreign players - like the look of their new lock Rob Andrew, sure he was from a French lower league club. Kitchener has really come on this season, is becoming a very good carrier for them.

Well lydiates out for the season - fractured leg and broken ankle.

Sounds like Kearney got hurt quite bad too.

Saints were very good today, so much more physical than Wasps - Courtney Lawes is such a good player, just destroyed Wasps. Some huge hits in today, Wasps desperately need two need props.

Out of interest is there anyone in the Aviva Premiership that you wouldn't want in your team more than Tim Payne...turned into a liability!

Payne was fantastic for wasps last year. Seen him pull off some good tackles this year. We would love to have Payne come back home to Gloucester . Be fantastic bench option for us

He was definitely good last year, but I've seen him live twice and every other game on tv so far and he's just giving away penalty after penalty for us - should have been given a red card when he kneed the Russian wing in the head last night.

As soon as we went down to 14 players the whole game swung on its head. The week before he must have given away 3-4 penalties by flopping into a ruck.

Wasps really struggle with both props - saw last night just how important it is to dominate the scrum, one of the most important parts in a game as if you don't you give away a penalty nearly every time, either lose 3 points or get kicked 40-50metres down field.

Our lineout misfired last night too - Lawes must have stolen 4-5, before last night I think we were on about 95% successful throws, could have been as low as 60% yesterday!

Palmer was looking very solid though - though Tom Wood and Lawes have to start for England in the AI's thought both were exceptional after all the injuries they have had.

Chris who hooked for wasps last night ??

Wasps lineout much better when Thomas plays. That's why Lindsay had the drop.
