The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Amsterdam in honour of original publican Gibson who is finally back in gainful employment. One small step for man ...
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of former Corso Marauder Lawrence Dallaglio or young ice hockey prize winner (thanks to the v2ers) Chris Boyd.

Lucky - went to see the dentist hygenist last week (y'know being all responsible and looking after my teeth) and it's given me a massive wisdom tooth flare up and I'm pretty sure I've now got an infection. Feeling just a bit miserable.

Re: The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
Morning all.
Our phones here work through the computer base unit. My bu was changed at the weekend and I have been trying to get IT to reinstall the phone system since yesterday.
The IT guy who has been assigned the job just sent me an email saying he can't get on the phone number listed in our directory.
My response.
"Of course you can't reach me - that's the number on the system I need reinstalling."
You couldn't make it up.
IT eh!!

classic. I bet your wallet still maintains the tell tale “connie ring” when viewed from the outside. Standard.
We had a double monitor installed in the office a while back, 2 monitors side by side and they function as one giant screen so when you drag your mouse to the edge of one screen it appears on the other one. All very standard stuff. But it wasn’t working as expected, he had them back to front so when you dragged the mouse from one side of the screen to the other it appeared on the opposite side of the other screen, a bit like in asteroids when you fly from left to right and then appear back on the left. Now, everyone could tell this “issue” could be fixed by moving the screen on the right to be the screen on the left, but the IT guy got confused and called facilities. True story.

Hassle isn't it Hound?
Just got this Japanese engineer out from Osaka to survey, re-calibrate and run diagnostics on large floor type borer machine.
I picked him up at the crack of dawn on Monday (5-6 degrees at airport) then drove him out and checked him into a motel then straight out to the factory (27-29 deg. C during the day)... dry and hot... just like the outskirts of LA heading towards the desert.
They're building this add-on Water Park with a huge fake inland beach (and other assorted slides and big ponds) right next to the existing Olympic Rowing & Regatta centre near Penrith, which is about 65km/40 miles west of Sydney at the foot of the Blue Mountains.
You're flying along these amazing motorways and the bloody things (Blue Mountains) don't even seem to get closer.
Finally, they do appear though.
Anyway, back to this guy (he was about 5' tall only... a tiny bloke). The company safety vest was way too big for him.
Instead, he wore a special tissue-paper-like? blue 'spacesuit' which he unravelled from a bundle the size of a small bottle and slipped into it before hopping on to the machine and going to work.
2.5 days later I get the call. All work is complete but a few decent sized parts need to re-ordered.
He leaves for Japan again tomorrow morning - then will come back on Tuesday to install the parts. They have to adjust the headstock and replace the x-axis scale bar... then run a few tests. The computer system was from c. 1999 so they replaced the macros with the latest stuff. All debugged with no "parts of programs missing", etc.
Must say I was a little worried up until today. Customer was really nice to me but the problems needed fixing. I honestly was worried everyone would be scratching their heads as time ticked by and work production would stop completely. The engineer guy must know that thing inside out. He was probably around when it was designed. It was his baby! Customer was impressed.

Lucky, you do realise you'll be sleeping on active volcanoes in Lanzarote?
Should choose somewhere more stable next time - like Broome.
Same coloured red and orange rocks but the beaches are way nicer.
Not a volcano in sight either. Warm and dry now and the wet season usually reaches a peak in late February!

I don't know, MrsP. it depends how big the tablet is and whether it would make an effective barrier. You'd need some string and some sellotape too, but it could be doable.

It will be a great place to recharge yourself.
Nothing better than a holiday in the sun - it's a great feeling. You'll find things to explore for sure.
Stay in the shade in the heat of the midday sun and you should be fine... and keep yourself hydrated.
I remember getting really parched on Samos Is. near Turkey. The moped broke down and I had to push it for a couple of miles across the island. I got it to the first garage available but the whole episode really took its toll on me. I was struggling towards the end... but eventually I got there.

I loved it there last year, Breaker. There was a breeze that took the edge off the heat. The best part of the holiday was discovering that there are loads of brightly-coloured fish swimming around just metres from the shore. You just get a snorkel and you're away - and they're just as curious about you as you are of them.

I came to that realisation in the Cook Islands. You stick your head underwater and it's like this amazing fish display.
In the space of 10 seconds I saw an octopus, baby shark, electric eels and loads of other colourful fish.
Then this pike? It was about a meter long but shaped like a thin stick.
When it turned sideways - it looked embarrassed then all of a sudden it twists 90 degrees and it's like a pair of eyes on the end of a broomstick.

That he did munsty, not really sure why but when he came on he did.
I managed to wrangle myself into the crowd causing the most noise for the second half abduction had a great laugh. It was just a really enjoyable night out.
Couldn't really comment on the quality of the game having not watching Ireland play at lot of football

Antibiotics always remind me of not drinking growing up. They were always the main reason someone wasn't drinking. It got to the stage where it went like this
"headed out tonight??"
"nah not drinking this weekend"
"WHAT??? Are you on antibiotics??"

I was on a phone conference with Canada this afternoon and managed a nice big coughing fit just as I got asked an awkward question! Haven't had a choking fit for a couple of days at least.
A few days of sun, netball and booze in Portugal will hopefuly either cure or kill!

I'd say that should do the trick Pete! When abouts do you go away?
I have half hour till my driving lesson, the rain and wind better disappear quickly else I'm really not going to enjoy it.
