Week 7 Discussion Thread
First topic message reminder :
Shocker in San Francisco as the Seahawks vs the 49ers was a defensive battle.
Anyone else not a fan of thursday games, the home team has a ridic record in them iirc.

Doesn't look good on thursday. Vikes clearly the better team and home teams on TNF have a ridic advantage.

Re: Week 7 Discussion Thread
Clearly? On win record yes, but I think the Bucs are putting the pieces together well, could see them pull it off, Vikes defence is fairly shoite if I recall correctly. Should be a good one.
Expect another big day for Vincent Jackson, I think Martin may be finally be used right too, getting better use out of him by the week. Freeman is making some plays. Defence is very thin, need pressure which they may struggle to get. Big day needed for McCoy and Bennett. Bucs have some solid players on defence but some poor ones. David and Barron are defensive rookie candidates (Chandler Jones leading in my view)

After a 4-0 start, its not looking good for Whisenhunt. That OL is horrible.
Cards need a QB, but theres no point in drafting one to get David Carr'd behind that line.

Vikes D has played pretty well this year outside of the Redskins game.
Their wins have been based on strong D, running the ball and asking Ponder not to make mistakes and throw to Harvin. The 49ers mold.

Re: Week 7 Discussion Thread
His stats are okay. I have written about him numerous times, he struggles with intermediate throws, and reading coverages. He has improved as he looks off the receiver and not forcing many throws. He has come on a fair bit this year and his weapons have helped a lot.
His receivers are making plays for him but his precision on the deep ball is super. His receivers often go up and get it but that's Freeman using their skills.
Watch this video from the giants game, shows Free's very good (first throw is seriously one of the best I have seen in my time) and bad tendencies (to be fair he should have been a lot further up the field only for the refs and well it was just a hit and hope near the end)

I really liked Freeman coming out, and I thought he'd be the best of the first round trio (mind you Sanchez is terrible, and Stafford has regressed massively). Thought he was better than his 2011 campaign, but not as good as his 2010 if that makes sense lol

Re: Week 7 Discussion Thread
Sanchez would be decent if he had a decent Offensive line, and some weapons in the passing game.
I believe he is a lot better than he is showing.
Freeman was poor enough last year but is receivers weren't getting open, he didn't have a running game to help him (Bucs were about 21 points behind after a quarter and a half like) and well the problems I mentioned above.
It is not all on the QB folks remember that!

I'm sorry but I can't defend Sanchez. Yes the situation isn't perfect, but he just isn't very good.
The INT vs the Pats was one of the worst throws I've seen a professional QB make. He had a wide open TD and he was picked off

Re: Week 7 Discussion Thread
I'm a little bias as a fan of the Vikes but I believe this team can be pretty good. I always look for certain positions to be filled with good players and the Vikes have the core guys. They have a future all-pro left tackle in Kalil, a top 5 centre in the league, elite rb, wr and pass rusher.
Their D has massively improved, I'm not a fan of the scheme they employ though. With Robison and Allen, you have two scary pass rushers, Greenway is a top olb and they have other pro bowl quality guys like Erin Henderson. Even the previously shocking secondary is promising, very young group but Cook is one of the better young corners in the league and Harrison Smith is showing he wasn't overrdrafted at all.
I don't really rate Freeman, I thought he showed so much promise when he had his breakout year though. He just seems so awkward to me, I'm not sure why, but he looks as though he doesn't know what he is doing at times (See Gabbert, Blaine). As for his athletic ability that is often mentioned, along with John Skelton and Peyton Manning, he is one of the main qb's in the league that is sacked easily so just don't get it.
Ponder on the other hand frustrates me too. He doesn't have all the natural talent of Freeman but he projects much more confidence and leadership imo. If Ponder learns to not panic after his primary target is locked down, I think you are looking at someone who can be a 200 yards 2 td's guy every game, reminds me of Alex Smith and Rodgers with the unexpected speed too
Sanchez is involved in a circus and actually feel sorry for him. He has bad o-line imo and bad weapons. He should be better but the Jets obviously are planning for their future with another qb, as why haven't they surrounded him with weapons if that isn't the case

Freeman has an absolute tank of an arm. Ponder's isn't that great tbh. I'm not sure Ponder will ever be considered a top 5 QB, he might bottom out at the bottom of the top 10.

Noticed the games start an hour earlier this weekend because the clocks don't change in the USA till the following weekend. That means the C4 and BBC games will be on a little earlier.

Does MNF game start at 12.30 then, or would it be 12, not watched one live since last season
