Definite red.
And he was brought down in the first half for what I thought was a penalty. His reputation saved Newcastle then.

Maybe the fact it wa never in million years is what "saved" Newcastle.
Suarez isn't singled out, he makes a meal of everything. Sterling went through Cisse in the first half. Good challenge. However, if colo is off for his then Sterling walks too.
Guess I am more of a man than most football fans these days. Followed by over sensitive sissies wanting to wrap players in cotton wool.

Nope. Anyone that excuses that cowardly act - coming in from the side, studs up aiming for the knee on an opponent who is no position to defend himself from the attack is exactly that - from Colocini yesterday is most certainly not 'more of a man' than anyone.

He grazed him having opted to pull out. Honestly ate footballers being penalised for having bad thoughts.
Gross over reaction which got him the card. His pain was not in anyway genuine. He is a cheat piece of scum.
Anyway, I'm off to bump. Night all.

Whether he pulled out or not is debatable and there is no way you can say for sure he did. The fact is, the original intention was the act of a coward. There is nothing tough about what he did, if you think otherwise your mind is warped.
Edit: you are right, Colocini indeed cheated, or tried to at least.

He put his foot up to do him, then decided better of it. His foot has to come down somewhere which is why to the uneducated eye it may look like a stamp. If he wanted to hurt him he most certainly would've done.

"His foot had to come down somewhere." I must use that one in court next time I stamp on someone
And stop acting like you know what went on in Coloccini's mind. You are simply interpreting it how you see fit, where the reasonable position to take is to accept that nobody but Coloccini knows whether he was pulling out or not. The fact was, it was a cowardly challenge, not tough, not 'manly' and not legal.

I missed the bit where he stamped on him, perhaps you can point that out.

Re: Liverpool FC Thread: Numero Deux
If anyone is letting their love for a player blind their judgement it's you. In fact, I have not even mentioned Suarez once as he is not really relevant in the debate. You are intrepreting events how you see fit and trying to shoehorn Suarez's reputation into the debate to suit your agenda of trying to excuse Coloccini's assault.
What damage he ended up doing is also not relevant, as it had the potential to do some serious damage. Neither is it relevant, whether you think Coloccini tried to pull out as you do not know and have no way of doing so unless you are an certain South American with a perm. So stop adding in irrelevant points to the debate to try and excuse your player.

I'm an Everton fan and have a fairly large disliking of Suarez. I like Newcastle and I like Colocinni.
It was a red card. The intent was there for all to see. Even Pardew admitted it and said it was out of character, which it was. Still a red though.

Liver - I don't have to have access to the inner workings of a players mind to make a judgement. I've watched the video and in my OPINION, he pulled out. Lost his rag momentarily then decided better of it. I think If he wanted to damage it would've been done.
You, and most others, disagree. That's fine, it would be a boring place if not.

Re: Liverpool FC Thread: Numero Deux
If the challenge had been any other player then Suarez there wouldn't be a debate about it being a red card .
That is Suarez own fault for sometimes going down to easily ( imo he is getting fewer decisions being given for him by trying to influence the ref rather then just staying on his feet when he can ), but that doesn't make Colocinni's challenge any less a red card it was more luck then him changing his mind that a serious injury wasn't sustained by Suarez .

Re: Liverpool FC Thread: Numero Deux
Not convinced by the line up tonight.
Think Yesil is probably a better option up front than Morgan.
Assaidi should at least start in the Europa League if Rodgers refuses to use him in the Premier League.
Why Wisdom is starting, I don't know. I can only presume Johnson will be back for the Chelsea game and will take Wisdom's place.
Why is Flanagan at left back when he has Robinson or Wilson to play there.
I'd take a draw.

How bad is downing at crossing the ball? You would think it would be a basic requirement for a winger (I know he played this game as a wingback).

Just been watching Sky Sports news and they are going on about Wilfred Zaha being called up by England and how that should see his transfer value go up over 20 million quid ! ............. if a champioship footballer who hasn't played in the top flight or against top opposition is worth that then how much is Raheem Sterling worth now ?

Re: Liverpool FC Thread: Numero Deux
I think if Zaha goes for £20 million there's something wrong. I think Victor Moses is better than Zaha and he was signed for £2.5 million just three years ago from Crystal Palace.
In reality Sterling should be worth around £15 million, but if Zaha is worth £20 million Sterling should be worth around £30 million plus. Which is obviously ridiculous. Sterling probably isn't really worth £15 million either.

Yeah there's no way he's worth anything close to £20 million.
Sterling should be worth around £8 million for me, but with todays inflated fees for young English talent, we could get £15 million.

papertalk this morning has Arsenal offering 8million plus Theo Walcott for Sterling .
Why would we sell Sterling ? I think we could get Walcott for 5 - 10 million anyway

A good point was made of MOTD yesterday that if Suarez gets injured or suspended who do you actually have to play up front while Borini is injured?

You'd probably see Adam Morgan get a chance and from what I've seen of him in the next gen series he is a real prospect.

Turning into a right dirty player is Suarez. Like the Distin challenge he left his foot in in another's ankle. Poor showing.
Hopefully he's on the receiving end of one soon, not likely because he is to cowardly to go in for a real challenge.

I am worried about it and have made appropriate comments on other threads (which should address your earlier point). I don't understand Liverpool fans getting so upset when Suarez is mentioned. He's a terrific talent with a nasty cheating streak. Obviously gonna be in the news.

In the news? I watched the game live and the commentators said it as it was, mistimed nothing more, you're just blowing it all out of proportion and the fact you want to see any player get seriously injured is disgusting. Not like he went in knee high with his studs up like a certain player is it?

Suarez is a fantastic player who like hundreds of others makes bad challenges and goes down far to easily for my liking ................ i wont defend him when he does it at all .

It is true, it was mistimed nothing more. There where tackles a lot worse than that yesterday, summed up by Adebayors impression of Collicini but you decided Suarez needs mentioning on a thread that the OP has asked for no wumming on. I genuinely believe you have issues, you say he cheats yet every player does exactly the same thing (goes down easily, makes the most of fouls) take the blinkers off.

Adebeyors was a yellow for me, how else is he meant to challenge for the ball. What Luiz is doing is placing pressure on the ankle of an opponent in he hope they are injured. Also, this is a Liverpool thread and Ade plays for Tottenham.

Which team you are a fan of does not validate your opinion anymore than the next man. It was high and late but I felt he went for the ball. He didn't stamp down and the Arsenal players leg was not planted. Yellow.

He was lunging and had no control, if he makes full contact he could cause a very serious injury. Red card was the correct decision every day of the year.

Im just saying that the way your posts come across are more like a personal character assasination on Suarez rather then a rounded view . It would be like myself going on a Spurs thread and saying what i thought of Adebayors challenge , i would just be doing that to get a reaction .

With any player making a slide challenge there is an element of being out of control as you cannot simply stop as an when you want. It was a bad challenge, but common sense should prevail and a booking would be fair.
I know I've mentioned this before but having competed in tough sports such as boxing, rugby, Thai boxing etc... I maybe expect men to be tougher than they currently act.

Liverpool are a bit of a one man team this season so it is only natural that the attention will focus on him. I don't like Suarez, I don't hide that, but it is only due to his cheating character.

I think the point about Adebayors challenge was how high off the ground his boot was when he made contact .
I COMPLETELY AGREE with you on that footballers nowadays are wimps who go down far to easily , but that is across the game not just limited to Suarez .

Yes we are over reliant on Suarez at the moment , hopefully that will be addressed in january .
On a personal note if a club came in with a offer of over 50 million quid for Suarez then i would sell him as i dont think ANY player is worth that amount of money .
