Why? Don't ever write off Aus. They could lose the Lions Tour easily and still turn over any of the 4N sides in any given match

Re: World Rugby Rankings
This is where the rankings lose all credibility.
We have lost 5 of our last 7 matches against the wallabies, and 6 matches to Nz in the last 3 years, by winning this weekend does not make Sa a better side than them.

It's not just RSA, Bilt. It has to do with performances results elsewhere.
As I have often said, it's not a beauty pageant, just a statistical number crunching exercise.
And a pretty accurate one imo.

Re: World Rugby Rankings
Well Rugby does throw these up occasionally . I doubt anyone would think England would be the second best if we got there(i don't think it can happen anyway but it was mentioned) and SA were the best- But these things do have a habit of sorting themselves out quickly. A snapshot of the rankings is never a good thing to go on. As we all know based on the WC seedings.

Re: World Rugby Rankings
I'd have thought that about now would be the time to sort out both the pool rankings and the RWC draw.
It would still allow two years for the administration of team and business functions to organise themselves.

Re: World Rugby Rankings
It'd be a bit unfair on countries like Samoa and Argentina. They often can't put out full strength sides due to player availability. They'll drop down the rankings list between world cups. The current set up at least gives them some chance.Portnoy's Complaint wrote:I'd have thought that about now would be the time to sort out both the pool rankings and the RWC draw.

Re: World Rugby Rankings
England still 3rd in the world then (I'd agree with that) after winning 7 out of their last 8 games.
Winning 7 more out of the next 8 games, that would be the 3 AIs and 5 Six Nations games, will be a great way to underline England's credentials. I am of course expecting wins over everyone bar the All Blacks - tough game that, to say the least.

Re: World Rugby Rankings
My take is if Australia win they swap places (England drop to 4th and Australia go to third). South Africa is to far ahead and France to far behind for to be affected by the result.
Japan goes up if the get a win or a draw against NZ. They could get as high as 11th in theory. NZ stay on top irrespective of the result. You'd have to predict a 15pt+ win to the AB's though.

Loads. Absolutely loads of activity concerning top 20 World nations this weekend.
And every one of them according to the ESPN site is on Saturday (and they say that the broadcasters dominate the schedules).
Anyway, put your snouts through this autumnal debris and see what truffles you can sniff out.

Oz only 0.05 behind England now...?
Tonga are on the slide.
Were they 73.21 or 67.24 before the France Match?
According to above, they will slip below Japan, Canada, and Romania.
Is that right, Portnoy? 13th to 16th?

Been busy this past week LB and rushed my OP. Tonga should have been 73.21
i.e. Tonga tour France v Tonga
fra (on 81.44 points) at home -vs- ton (on 73.21 points)
If fra win by 1-15 points 0.000 81.44 73.21 No
If fra win by more than 15 0.000 81.44 73.21 No
If result is a draw 1.000 80.44 74.21 No
If ton win by 1-15 points 2.000 79.44 75.21 No
If ton win by more than 15 3.000 78.44 76.21 No
THREE known mistakes! G.I.G.O: mad:

So we are temporarily 3rd again now, I take it?
England now back to 4th temporarily...
Not that I care 'bout rankins' (sic) but we are back over that magical "86th" percentile. That's all I care about!
