The Azzrentice! Week 2
First topic message reminder :
This is the main page for your Apprentice competition. I am mixing up the teams, which are as follows:
Team Scholes
Olly - FIRED
Viva
Trebs - CAPTAIN
Soddy
Team Wilshere
Marky
Zebs
Hero - CAPTAIN
Gregers
Afro
The second task - DEADLINE 2359 ON THURSDAY 29 NOVEMBER - is as follows:
You are Rafael Benitez, recently appointed as Interim Chelsea Manager. You want the job on a full-time basis. To get the job, your mandate from the owner is this - win the league, get to at least the semi-final of the Champions League, and win the FC Cup like last year. In order to do this, you can buy/sell as many players as you want in the January transfer window. In addition to funds raised, Abramovich has given you £50m to spend.
So that's it - win stuff, spend some money to do so. What I want from you is the detailed plans you would put together - from now until Christmas how you'll set up, who you'll buy in January, and how your team will set up from then until the end of the season. Player values for transfers in and out will be the TM values please.
Hero, you are the Captain of Team Wilshere, and Trebs, you are the Captain of Team Scholes. Please ask questions if you need any clarity.

Viva,
Point 1 - I have taken responsibility for And I stand by that decision.
Point 2 - You didn't disagree with the purchase of Schneiderlin.
Point 3 - I wrote the tactics, but I don't think I've done anything wrong except maybe give a little more clarity.
Point 4 - Sodhat wrote the tactics, therefore it's his fault if they were too vague.

This is just like real Apprentice
Okay, what about the stuff I liked - who came up with these:
1. Purchase of M'Vila
2. Purchase of Ogbonna
3. Aguirre as AssMan
4. Tactics to January playing to Torres' strengths
You have until 1200.

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
1. Purchase of M'Vila
I sent Sodhat to go scouting for the players in that position, he came back with M'Vila and I said I wanted him, and Olly agreed with me. Viva didn't want M'Vila though, and Sodhat didn't say which of the players he scouted he wanted us to sign.
2. Purchase of Ogbonna
Viva scouted Ogbonna and Olly also wanted Ogbonna. I wanted to sign a different CB (Godin) but I listened to my team and went with the majority. Sodhat didn't give an opinion.
3. Aguirre as AssMan
Me
4. Tactics to January playing to Torres' strengths
Me and Viva. Viva wrote the first draft of tactics, but I told him to change Torres's bit which played more to his strengths.

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
Mighty you were too focused on doing things your way. I told we should have gone for deep playmaker many times but you were not bothered.
I think we all know the likes of those are not good enough for Chelsea it don't take EInstein to work that out. An if wasnt for me bringing up the Terry issue you would have dropped him from the side and we'd have lost badly.
There is no need for extra stuff if they are not done right. What Im saying is you didnt take blame for point 1 and 3 until I pointed it out just like the task.
I purchased Ogbonna.

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
Viva, a deep playmaker isn't the issue here though. We're focussing on these four points. I took responsibility straight away when Azzy highlighted the issues.
Can you stick to these four points please and lay it out simply where you think the blame lies on each.

Sorry but dont try and take the credit you told me to add what 1 extra line to what I originally said and it was still my own words you didnt tell me what to writwe .I dont think it would have made differecne if I added that or not. True colours are coming out no Mighty.

2. The purchase of Morgan Schneiderlin, who is not of a good enough standard
Of course it is, if we didnt sign these third rate players and went for the ones I suggest we probably wouldnt be in that mess. I am sticking to the points and if you read what I said I blamed you for points 1 and 3 and Sodhat for points 2 and 4 with Olly also blamed.

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
I told you to add more on Torres as it was originally vague. I made suggestions about getting him into more goalscoring positions and improved the tactics.
You wrote the tactics, I'll give you a pat on the back for that. But Torres's instructions were not good enough until my intervention.

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
Trebs - you've made some mistakes here. Not listening to your team seems to be one of them.
Viva - you're quick to deflect blame, but you know that I don't like people who aren't vocal during the task. If you disagree with something, the Boardroom isn't the place to bring it up.
Soddy - he seems to have contributed to the mistakes made, but also come up with some good stuff.
Olly - I've re-read your comments, and I'm struggling to see what Olly has done besides agreeing with decisions being made.

They were vague were they? So adding 1 extra line makes them in depth dossier? No Mighty stop making things up, I agree you told me to add something which I did with my own words but the way you are making it out to be what I originally wrote about Torres was nothing. One line you told me to add so that makes it ok? hahahaha no it aint working mate you're clearly outo f your depth and looking to blame someone.

My decision is based on contribution, and I don't think Olly has done enough this week.
Olly - YOU'RE FIRED. With great regret, as I know it's tough finding the time for such a involved task.
Trebs - back to the house, make sure that you include your team in decisions next time.
Love to all xx
(Disclaimer - all my comments are made light-heartedly, and I do really appreciate all you've done this week. A great all-round effort, shame to see Olly go)

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
In the interest of fairness, I got this PM from Olly last night
I might not be about for the boardroom tomorrow but if you guys are please call the other team out on the recalls of Lukaku and Courtois as I am pretty sure neither can be recalled just on a whim. Especially Courtois who I couldnt find anything out about his loan terms
Also call them out on playing Mata wide left in a 4-4-1-1, when he is clearly more effective as the CAM. And in there actual team a midfield pairing of Fellaini and Ramires which one of those two is going to be effective doing the dirty work considering Fellaini has played CAM all season and Ramires is a driving force from midfield.
There is no way we should lose this after looking at those pieces. Like I said I'm not gonna be about for the boardroom tomorrow as am at school so please raise those points if you feel the need
Cheers

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
Thanks for that Trebs, I'll take that on a point-by-point basis:
Lukaku can be recalled in January, as is standard for ALL Prem-to-Prem loans.
Courtois isn't clear, but they included a £2m fee to cancel the loan, so I allowed that.
Mata is versatile enough to play anywhere in my book.
Fellaini has been a great DM in the past (in his early Everton days and also for Belgium). Very capable, and also very physical (remember him getting 38 yellow cards a season?).
I do feel for Olly, but I think their mistakes weren't as big as yours. It was very close though.
Task 3 up shortly.

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
Olly's Pm just about shows his tactical nous.
Mata provdes more cover for the attacking FB, where Hazard would not help at all. And lets look at Juventus - which of Vidal and Marchisio does the dirty work as they are both box to box - oh that's right, they share it and both do it.
And on Courtois, there are pages of reports on Chelsea considering recalling Courtois IRL. I can't believe Chelsea would consider it if it wasn't possible

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
Right let me get this straight
I did ALL the tasks I was delegated and there have been no qualms with them. I gave my opinion on ALL the things Trebs wanted me too, including the whole issue of team bonding. I pointed out a few errors in the submission, even made the effort to send a PM in case I didn't make the boardroom and yet I still get fired????
That is the biggest load of BS ever

At least in Afro's apprentice I was fired cos I ballsed up. Yet in this task I am taking the blame even though I did all I was asked to do, without any questions being arisen from it by you Azzy, gave my opinion on everything, and still I get fired?
And the PM was just me giving my opinion. IMO Mata would be wasted out at LM, I would say Hazard out there and I would much prefer Fellaini behind the striker which he is currently showing he is a beast at

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
Olly, sorry mate, this is why no-one likes running the Apprentice.
It came down to this:
1. I liked the other teams' submission more
2. Viva and Soddy appeared to contribute some key parts
3. Trebs ran the task pretty well and did some key things
4. It didn't look like any of the good things in the submission came from your direction
This is really tough to please everyone, and I know you'll feel aggrieved, but in the real Apprentice task the person who gets sacked always feels like they did enough. Sorry mate, I really am.

Fair enough. For what it's worth Olly, I don't think the right man was fired.
Azzy - Despite the earlier PM's, I am going to reluctantly bow out of the Apprentice. I can't promise any time being spent on task 3, and it would be too easy a distraction to me.
I would like to recommend that Olly puts on a pair of 12 inch platforms and an Afro wig, and is reinstated in my place.

Re: The Azzrentice! Week 2
Trebs, if you read our reasoning you will understand Hazard doesnt defend. He drifts out of position too much. I can name at least 3 teams which have ripped Chelseas left wide apart this season. Moving Mata to left still allowes creativity and helps the full back out. Also call them out on playing Mata wide left in a 4-4-1-1, when he is clearly more effective as the CAM.
IRL Rafa spooted this against Man City, Zabaleta in the first have was getting at Chelsea, Rafa swapped Hazard & Oscar, 2nd half Zabaleta wasnt as effective goign forward.
I feel the need to point it out as that was my decision as part or the team but I havd team members agree with it.

Azzy Mahmood wrote:Right, Team Scholes. Obviously two of the team aren't here, so you're going to have to help me out a bit.
What I didn't like about your submission was this:
1. The sale of Frank Lampard, club legend and fan favourite < Everyone decided this together2. The purchase of Morgan Schneiderlin, who is not of a good enough standard < Soddy suggested it and we said he would be a good squad player3. The training schedule, which wasn't asked for (good initiative shown though), and which I read as saying that, if you're playing on a Tuesday, there's no real training between Saturday and Tuesday < Trebs did this part of the task4. The tactics for post-January were a bit vague as to when each system would be utilised. < Soddy did this part of the task
Please can you tell me who was responsible for each of these four let-downs, by 1145.
Please tell me what I ahve done wrong there compared to others?
Azzy Mahmood wrote:Okay, thank you all. I've heard enough to make my decision.
Team Scholes - I looked at your submission, and I like parts of it. Other parts I'm not keen on. In particular:
Likes - sale of Malouda, purchase of Cavani, M'Vila, Ogbonna, Aguirre as AssMan, your tactics until January, playing Ivanovic at RB.
Dislikes - sale of Lampard, purchase of Schneiderlin, training schedule (if you're playing on a Tuesday there's no real training between Saturday and then?), tactics post-Jan were a bit vague as to when each system would be utilised.
As for Team Wilshere...
I was for the purchases of M'Vila, Cavani and I even persuaded Trebs for Ogbonna and suggested Ivanovic would be better at RB
Please tell me what I have done wrong

Wow Olly, I was just about to put you back in at the expense of Afro as well. Are you sure you don't want to reconsider?
I had to go by what I was told / could see, so I made a choice. I knew it wouldn't go down well, why else would Afro not want to run another Apprentice comp?
Olly, your choice - stay, or go.
