Welcome to Season 5 of the Aviva Premiership fantasty rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (Ozzy3213) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at it’s discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the matchday 22's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make up of your squad.

Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.

Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.

Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.

  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 3 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Championship/National League bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on it's own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

Foreign transfers will unlimited during the off season and 2 during the season. The exact dates of the two transfer windows during the season is to be confirmed.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

If a released player plays in real life for a team outside of this game he will be deemed to have returned to that team. If not then he will be deemed to have signed for a Championship side. If another manager wants to pick a released player up, they will have to bid for him in the same way as for a foreign or Championship/National League player.

Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.

Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A thread will be put up for managers to name their teams on Thursdays, then on Fridays, managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

At least 10 England qualified players in your matchday 23, and at least 5 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.

Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.

Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£1.5m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Ben Youngs a 9? Come off it. Don't think any England player was a 9. 36 the best but probably only an 8. Ben Youngs a 6 or 7 and Tom Youngs about a 5.

Goode was poor. Brown or Foden back please. Barritt lacks the skills for 13 and will likely drop out when Manu back

Back row was great. Robshaw stepping into role. Launchbury and Parling developing well. Marler came close to converting cliub performance to international stage.

Farrell added to his game. Has the chance to make the 10 shirt his own.

Tom youngs

Needless, daft penalties and the lineout didn't go that well. Dylan Hartley, coming off the bench, must have been licking his lips. 5

Agree with this. I am a soothsayer lol. Thought wood was a 9 like Richard hill he does so much work. Between him and if fit ferris for Lions 6.

Wood is that good. OMahoney was excellent before leaving also

Guys who put there hand up for Lions yesterday

BOD - majestic. Could do wonders outside Manu or Jamie.
Zebo - fancy him for the wing spot alongside Ashton.
SOB - Very good tackling and strong performance.
Kelly Brown - Good in a poor performance alongside Richie Gray
Tom Wood - Finds internationals easier than domestic it seems.
Donnacha Ryan - very strong performance.
Billy Twelvetrees - maybe, just maybe.
Owen Farrell - surely odds on to tour now dad is coaching. Keep playing like this and he will deserve to go.
Stuart Hogg - excellent for Scots. Telegraph gave him a 10 which is garbage but he was good. Verastile as well.

Best was great in loose but his throwing needs to improve. Cian Healy has one hand on the shirt injury permitting. Warburton getting better.

Warburton was poor, looks half the player of WC.

On weekends performance I'd have SOB/Robshaw best flank combo.

"Ben Youngs a 9? Come off it"

What more do you want from your scrum half??? Nailed on for Lions if he carries on like that. No other 9 comes close.

Nailed on Lions after weekend (obviously can change)

1. Healy
2. Best
3. Cole

6. SOB
7. Robshaw

9. Youngs

13. BOD

Youngs was not a 9 out of 10 by any stretch and he is not nailed on for the Lions.

Two ratings I've seen have him given - Guardian: 6/10, Telegraph: 7/10. That suggests there is more you can ask for. Make no mistake he was good yesterday but he wasn't a 9/10 by any stretch of the imagination.

You could argue he is in pole position for the shirt after yesterday, but he isn't nailed on. Cian Healy has one hand on the Loosehead shirt, Cole similar with the 3 shirt and Jonny Sexton has one and a half on the 10 shirt.

Phillips, Murray and Care will all challenge Youngs,

By the weekends performances the Lions back row would be Brown/SOB/Heaslip. Only issue with that is that the Lions will need a fetcher as we will have to deal with one or both of Pocock and Hooper.

So that would suggest a shoot out between Warbs, Tipuric and Robshaw as the natural fetchers. Got to pick a team not 15 best players who are fit.

How can you list players as nailed on with the footnote 'obviously can change'

Youngs needs to get faster service from the breakdown - rest of his play was very good yesterday. Was quicker service when Care came on I thought.

Would certainly start Hartley next week, seen 4-5 match reports with Youngs getting 5/10 for his game.

We do need something extra from our backthree - Ashton had a great work rate, but wasn't worked into space at all or given anything to feed off. Not sure who there is as a left wing - interesting to see if Foden is recalled there and Brown moved to fb.

10. Sexton
9. Phillips
8. Heaslip
7. Warburton

I meant after one game my starters would be.....calm yourself down lol

Youngs easily a 9, was great throughout.

Warbs shouldn't be starting for Wales never mind Lions, so out of form.

I thought he was 7.5 out of ten at best. Did some good some bad but more positives than negative.

I agree totally with all the ratings that say he needs to speed up the way he clears
The ball away.
Connor Murray had a good game yesterday also and must come close to getting a seat on the plane.

Pretty much agree with that form team apart from north who seems to have been found out a little or underused depending on how you view it

I had a bet with and Irish friend yesterday that the Lions wings would be Zebo and Gilroy. If they both keep up their form and Gilroy sorts out his kicking from hand then I could win that one.

This is incredible from Italy - enjoying this one. If they keep this up I'd say this has to be three of the best games I have seen in the 6Nations for a long time from an opening weekend.

Can't understand why they play Fofana out wide though.

Parisse immense. Only pickles stood up for French. Michalak went missing. Pretty unfair to expect him to play 10 when he does not play there for club. Big ask.

French not a bad team overnight though.

Fofana in to midfield with basteraud or fritz and Nyanga for quedrago and its a much better side.

Also Domingo has to start. Both debaty and forrestier struggled in scrums

Steve it was a really good game, but the French just didn't seem to have anyone who took the game by the scruff of the neck at any stage. The number of turnovers that the Italians got was so impressive.

Going to be such a good weekend of rugby next week, already looking forward to it!

French really lacked leaders. They needed to play the game down in Italy territory but did not manage the game well at all.

Both half backs went missing.

Pape was quiet and he has been sensational for last couple of years . Italy played so well and were fired up. They could do the jocks next week easily.

Makes for a great tournament. Don't write France off either such an up and down outfit

If you ever want to find future stars of Sa rugby look at the reports from craven week. midfielder Rohan Janse van Rensburg is the next star along with hendre pollard who i already have.

Van rensburg massively powerful and pollard is reason they will not be that gutted to lose steyn. He is a schoolboy but already played in the winning u20 wc side and played in pre season bulls games. Craven week is even on tv in Sa. It's a great idea

Italy so big in defense , just seemed to smash everything. France line all over the shop at times. Mas found wanting in Parisse's try.

Everyone of Italy's backs must of won a turnover today? They where so dynamic with the body positions in the contact.

Did it yesterday for Maitland try spotted cole and other front 5 trying to defend with brown.

Not sure how good a signing that is, they look lightweight in front row once they lose tiny mujati and pdj.

Think we will see more signings soon

Gorgodze could be looking at a ban following Georgia's game at the weekend.

Be a interesting back row without Morgan.

6.Haskell
7.Robshaw
8.Wood

19.Fraser

Will Fraser off the bench could open the game up if he can win the battle on the floor.

Unlikely Fraser will make the squad, England still have Waldrom and Vunipola in the EPS so one of them surely going to get on the bench or the starting side.

You never know with Lancaster not one to shy away from testing his young guns iron.

I'd like to see Billy V on the bench. Waldrom is a backwards selection.

He isn't shy of young guns.

2 possible scenarios in my eyes.

Haskell straight into starting line up at 8 or 6 (most likely).

Waldrom straight into starting line up with Haskell left on bench (plausible as 8 is a specialist position)

Billy V ahead of Fraser when it comes to blooding young guns, especially as we still have Robshaw and Wood fit and firing so it is carrying where we might need reinforcement although our front 5 isn't short of carrying at all.

Would take a brave man to stick Billy V or Fraser in against Ireland in Dublin with their back row!
