Munster v Leinster
First topic message reminder :
The Leinster squad trained in UCD on Monday afternoon as attention switched back to the RaboDirect PRO12 and Saturday evening's interprovincial clash against Munster in Thomond Park (KO: 6.30pm)...
Brian O'Driscoll is available for selection after his unavailability in recent weeks and he could be joined by out-half Jonathan Sexton who has stepped up his rehabilitation in recent days after suffering a tear to a tendon in his foot last month.
With Shane Jennings in the frame after his late withdrawal from last Friday night's 48-28 Amlin Challenge Cup quarter final victory, the imminent return of the Ireland trio provides the squad with a major boost as they bid to secure a Play-off berth.
Fergus McFadden and Sean O'Brien completed their first full stint with the province after the Six Nations in High Wycombe in a game which also marked Mike Ross' first try of his professional career. Ian Madigan's 28-point haul has now taken him to 202 points in all competitions, in 26 games so far this season.
With the province's 'A' team booking a place in the British & Irish Cup semi finals on Sunday afternoon following their 30-26 victory over Bristol, Leinster will have two sides in action in the last weekend of April. There are no major injury concerns arising from that game though Andrew Boyle (knee) and Mark Flanagan (foot) will be assessed by the medical team this week after suffering knocks.
The Leinster team to face Munster will be named on Friday lunchtime.
Munster: F Jones; D Hurley, C Laulala, J Downey, S Zebo; I Keatley, C Murray; D Kilcoyne , D Varley, S Archer; Donncha O’Callaghan, P O’Connell capt; P O’Mahony, T O’Donnell , J Coughlan. Replacements: M Sherry, J Cronin, BJ Botha, B Holland, Dave O’Callaghan, C Sheridan, JJ Hanrahan, I Dineen.

I find it hard to believe Madigan is 5'11. I am 5'9 and am taller than BOD, having looked (slightly!) down on him in Cafe en seine a couple of years back, yet repeatedly sources make him taller so I'd take those biographies with a god pinch of salt.

I find all the rugby player stats hard to believe, think they all add an inch or two , and at least 1/2 a stone.

Womens rugby stats
Valerie is a tough uncompromising prop, five feet seven (five feet two), Eleven and a half stone (fifteen stone) and a size six boot (size ten)

Not always (if you want other clubs to keep their paws off your young players)! Donnacha Ryan said he was invited over to Northampton because they though it was impossible that he could be a professional rugby player, let alone a lock if you went on the stats given on the Munster website!

Interviews, Q&As etc. That was from an Irish Times interview just before the world cup.

Besides some of the injuries, it's Munster's strongest side save for Archer, Varley and DOC. Big game for Keatley, he should get a chance to show what he does if the pack can put in a decent shift, if the pack fail then Keatley will struggle, difference being Keatley will probably get a bollocking for playing poor while with ROG it would be the pack didn't turn up. Still exciting game, wouldn't fancy us with many wrecked bodies after last week's encounter but you never know.

Agree on that and hate the double standards, wrecks my head.
Relatively strong Munster pack bar that front row which is very weak. Munster have an advantage in the lineout (maybe Leinster should have played McLaughlin) however Varley is a shocking thrower of the ball and thus may put pressure on his team. Other than that the back 5 of the pack are pretty darn solid

Re: Munster v Leinster
Varley's throwing has improved a lot recently. I believe Flannery has been coaching him.
Whats the double standards. Most have said its the 6 day turn around which is going to make it difficult for the pack.
Thomond - its also up to Keatley to take some of the pressure off the pack and not run everything as they will be knackered after last week.

He will play what's in front of him as most outhalves tend to do, if Leinster look like they can be run at, l;ike they did last week, then run at them. Varley's throwing is decent (our lfiting is substandard at times), my main issue is he is a penalty machine

Re: Munster v Leinster
Well, if he should run he should run. If its the right decision to attack them that way its the right decision.
I would say that you will need to take the game to them, they'll be pretty happy to field kicks in their own half and their set piece is pretty solid. It's gonna take more than a few good touchfinders, a solid defensive lineout and a bit of pashun.
I'm really in Munsters corner this week, no doubt about it! Would love Munster and Scarlets to lend a wee bit of a hand.

Sin, I think the double standard he was referring to was that ROG doesn't get as much criticism when the pack is under pressure compared to Keatley.

I have not seen any evidence his throwing has improved its just shocking how our line out falls apart when he comes on. Same thing on Sunday. He is great in the lose but no good if he can't throw!
Archer is going to get destroyed on sat! Based on the front row being so weak I'm not confident. If however varely hits the line out and archer holds his own we might just pull it off.

Some 10s are more successful than others at running a game. My point is that he needs to realise that most of Munster's pack had a very hard game 6 days ago, and it might be idea to also slow the game down every now and then and maybe have lineout since POC is back and the Leinster lineout isn't that great (Cronin is particularly poor at throwing).
There was nothing wrong with our lifting last week.

In Cork we've heavy rain, strong winds and fog. Limerick isn't going to be great either so bring rain gear.

Kearney rolled over the line with the ball in hand, put it under his body and grounded it. Definite try.
Ah well, we'll wear em down in this one. Its just a matter of time...
Madigan 2 from 2. 0-6. We need a try and then shum sexshy rugby.
