Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread Part 6
Nonsense, his passing and first touch are exceptional. Vision included, wonderful vision. Kagawa has a long way to go yet, he drifts out of games far too easily. Kagawa doesn't provide that pass for the Villa volley, he's not that type of player. He's a player who has been limited by United having one notable midfielder.
Rooney just isn't a popular sort of player. English football is so jealous of Spain that anyone who embodies the classic gusto spirit is not fashionable. He'd improve every single team in the Premier League. Every team in the world in fact.

I'd take him over each of Barca's front three except Messi. Over Benzema and Higuain. I think he's certainly good enough to improve Dortmund and Bayern too. Those are probably the top four of football currently. Juve would cry out for him if they had the clout.

Rooney at his best would be an asset to most teams. Think he may get back to that if he leaves.

I saw a man the other day,
He said to me he's found the white Pele.
So I asked, who is he?
He goes by the name of Wayne Rooney.
Wayne Rooney, Wayne Rooney

Be interesting to see how Moyes lines up tactically. Pienaar would be his Kagawa and he has always been used as a kind of inside left.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread Part 6
Perfect choice really,
Everyone is saying 'oh he lacks winning trophies'...but it's not like he will be coming into the job with no one behind him to help guide him. Fergie will be moving upstairs and given the friendship between them I fully expect him to visit the training ground and changing room before games much more than normal 'directors'. The 6 year deal shows the faith he has in Moyes and much more than that gives an indication that he will be phased in, as much as you can in such a high profile job, as THE MAN. Fergie will be behind him every step of the way.
No one deserves the opportunity more than this guy and whilst Mourinho would have been a great manager...he does not fit into the ideology and ethos which Manchester United have.
I for one am happy to see a British manager getting the biggest job in English football...and would have expected many more to be pleased given the amount of times clubs receive stick for hiring foreign managers and players and not giving homegrown talent a chance to shine.
Best of luck to him...having met him a few times he has the same kind of characteristics as Ferguson and certainly has the potential to create that aura which surrounds Sir Alex.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread Part 6
i think the criticism of rooney is very unfair. he isnt an out and out striker but look at his record for both club and country. and look who he has goals against aswell and some of the goals hes scored. i imagine his assists count is pretty good too. and still only 27. is also set to be england all time record goalscorer easily, and at worst, second top premier league scorer. you cant fault his workrate and teamwork either. if i was rooney, i would be expecting to be in united's first eleven every week, hes had a quiet season, in and out of the team. i dont blame rooney if hes not happy
i think some people just want to criticise for the sake of it

Odds on next Everton manager. Martinez favourite, then Phil Neville, then Neil Lennon. Outsiders are Benitez, Hughes, O'Neill, and RDM. Anyone but Lennon is my thinking.

Unfortunately with Moyes leaving Everton, and Martinez being linked, we again have to deal with the buffoonary of Dave Whelan again.

So that's both the Merseyside clubs, and Villa who are too small for Bobby M. Who does Dave Whelan think is big enough, Barcelona, Real Madrid? Bloke's off his rocker.

Buzzing for David Moyes, has done so well at Everton and has proven to be one of the best managers in the Prem. Don't forget he has **** all money at Everton. Really has done a superb job there. Apart from Fergie, Moyes is probably the 2nd best manager in the league. Going to be interesting to see what happens next.
As for Everton manager. I really hope its Martinez, deserves so much better than Wigan.

I think this season is what is making him want to leave though, it's almost as if he wants assurances that he is undroppable. It's pretty obvious that he wants to leave because Fergie kept dropping him, justifiably, for the big games.
He's played crap this season, it's fairly simple - play better and you won't get dropped.

Villa v chelsea.
Can we make it 3 wins on the trot?
Think,it will be a draw.
2 games left. Hoping Benteke can get to 20 league goals.

Take Vilarreal to the CL Semi final in a shoe string budget (they have since been relegated)
Set a record points tally for RM and get sacked (sadly not the harshest sacking, see F.Capello)
Done pretty well in tough times with Malaga

So Mancini to PSG , Ancellotti to Real Madrid , Mourinho to Chelsea , and Rafa back to his house in Liverpool to manage the little club Everton

But effectively done nothing of any note and about to enter his 60's.
Advantage Moyes and Mourinho.

David O'Leary has made a CL semi.
A record points tally means zip if it doesn't bring silverware.

David O'Leary was a quality manager for about 90 minutes
Its not Pellegrinis fault he ran into the greatest club side of the decade in their pomp, nor that he was afforded none of the patience Mourinho was

I'm neither atm. I think its better than Mourinho who would've run roughshod over the club, but I stick to my Ancelotti to bridge to a younger manager assessment.
I like Pellegrini. He's gotten the most out of clubs wherever hes been.

So if Chelsea beat Villa today, and I have full confidence they will quite comfortably, their place in the CL next season will be secured (barring a ridiculous GD swing).

Not far wrong - he was 2 games from getting Villa into the Champions League - was good at Villa to start with until it went spectacularly pear-shaped.
