He danced, added more speed, was elusive and clinical. No one beats Mayweather on that form, not at 147.

He said he over trained for the Cotto fight and that had an effect on his performance. On that showing you have to believe him, put on an absolute clinic and just couldn't miss with the right hand.

If he keeps dancing like THAT, no one can touch him, shocked he can still move like that.

Vintage May Hampo, i loved it and the ghost, well, he just makes his opponents look so disarmed in there, at times, clueless, and the way HE CAN STILL DANCE! Wow.

Seriously?, am not saying he didn't over train for cotto, but he was fighting a bum of a fighter, Guerrero was never going to win more than 2 rounds in this fight.

P4P number 8 a bum? I suppose they all after Floyd beats them. After he beats Saul he will be another bum no doubt.

Daft comments like that give Floyd groupies all the ammo they need to justify not fighting Alvarez.
Why fight him when people will just say he's useless if Floyd wins?
Guerrero is a very very good fighter who was made to look ordinary by a special fighter.

You see? Theres the difference, Im not calling Guerrero a bum, far from it. My problem is with the pfp #1 admitting he took an easy night, sure he is allowed having been to prison, but at $69, 95?

He fought the P4P number 8. It's not as though he fought the 8th best WW.

Azania, you seem to think this whole "easy night" theory is something I originated. It came from Floyd himself!

Re: Fight Thread For This Weekends Action: Vlad, De Leon, Mares, Santa Cruz... Oh, and Mayweather vs The Ghost
It was always going to be an easy night. Floyd is head and shoulders above everyone in his weight. He fought the next best WW. Saying he should have fought Saul now when he had a unification fight with Trout in which the winner's profile would be elevated makes sense for all concerned.
Had Floyd had a come from behind fight with both eyes closed more so called fans would respect him more. But he makes it look easy so he is questioned. Ditto RJJ.

Wrong, floyd is a light hitter now which is why he has not KO'd anyone properly since 2007.
How can he have lost power then. He just flat out doesn't hit hard for a welterweight, never has. He has enough to keep you from walking him down but never enough to put you down. Your point was he's lost power which is just not true. Berto is a big punching welterweight, yet couldn't hurt Guerrero like Floyd did and I called the hand injury early in this thread and it was about the time when he had Robert rocking so who knows.

Nothing against Floyd, he put on a clinic, hence the boos. My gripe is more with how boxing is being run.

Ok he was no Bum, but That was the least floyd was going to do, it was a mismatch, Guerrero wasn't that good of a fighter, sure he beat Berto (i picked him to beat him), but that guys not that good himself, guerrero was an average fighter, shouldn't really be in P4P top 10, has done nothing to deserve that place.
I called it when the fight was announced like many others, Guerrero won't win more than 2 rounds.

Guerrero was the 2nd ranked challenger to Floyd. He has already schooled the top ranked WW.

Floyd was superb again last night.
Especially his footwork, every time Guerrero inched forward Floyd either stepped on his front foot or placed his own feet on the outside to get a better angle. He dictated everything.
On to the next one.

Am not saying anything like that, all am saying is that is the least Mayweather could do against a guy like that, it wasn't that good of a performance, it was an average performance by floyd's standards

Rumour mill saying that Floyd/Khan in Dec in London. Wembley stadium earmarked. In Dec? Outdoors? Not a chance. I reckon next spring provided Khan is not pancaked between then.
Expect Khan to have more 'learning' fights to protect his expected $6m.

Re: Fight Thread For This Weekends Action: Vlad, De Leon, Mares, Santa Cruz... Oh, and Mayweather vs The Ghost
Right I'll put my hands up and say my boy Robert Guerrero was outclassed.
Mayweather was supreme.
But I'm not having this rubbish that The Ghost was some sort of bum.
Guerrero could quite easily stayed at featherweight or super featherweight, where he was the easily the best fighter in both division.
Or he could've stayed at lightweight, where he was second to only Rios.
Guerrero rolled the dice to achieve greatness. He beat legitimate welterweights in Aydin and Berto(2x welterweight champion)
Unfortunately Robert wasn't good enough to beat Mayweather.
Guerrero is a top fighter. Certainly isnt a bum as some are suggesting.
I enjoyed the Mares Ponce de Leon fight. Mares' power was outstanding. Ponce is very tough but Abner dropped him twice. I think the stoppage was wrong. Ponce was still fighting back.
I'd like to see Mares in with Ponce again or a unification bout with Mikey Garcia.

Great post.............But feel it will be wasted...........
50% on here picked Hatton to beat Floyd and he was a bum after..........DelaHoya the same and he was an old man.........
For anyone else Guerrero is a great win..........and for me he is definitiely worthy of his top 10 status in the p4p list..
Hope he comes back and wins a welterweight title seems a nice guy.

It's quite simple. Whoever Floyd fights is a bum after he wins easily.
Whichever face first MW plodder gave Robbo problems was an ATG. Hagler would have made mincemeat of and all Robbo's opponents and Robbo himself. SRL would have beaten every fighter SRR beat and made easy work of those MWs, yet he's lower top 10 even with 4 ATG on his ledger.
Floyd will never win even if he goes upo and beats Wlad and Vit on the same night. Some excuse will be made.

I actually believe when Floyd loses a fight he will get his due praise, he is in a lose lose situation no matter who he fights he will never get credit.

this, Cotto was old and past his best, but was still superior to Guerrero, even Ortiz was more of an interesting fight - due to his size/strength and power, He got huge credit for Mosley win. He would have for ortiz, if he didn't end it the way he did, Guerrero was simply outmatched, lets not pretend we're talking in hindsight, it was clear as day when it was announced

It depends on how he takes the defeat. If he is humble etc, he will be loved. If he loses a close fight and doesnt accept it, he become grosly overrated. Look at how Eubank became loved after his loss to Collins.

What is the generalisation? Hagler beats SRR at MW for me. SRL beats all the guys SRR beat and lost to imo.
The only exaggeration if the Wlad/Vit bit at the end.

You never know and your right to an extent because look at when Prince Naz lost to Barrera he took it well, that gained him many plaudits and believe me people hated Naz's charisma.

Am not complaining about who he fought, but am simply saying people are saying things like 'oh look how much better he is from the cotto fight, he can still dance' - ofcourse he can still dance, if he is in there with guerrero, lets not exaggerate his performance either, it was very average for his standards - some here would make you believe thats his best performance in recent years, it simply wasn't it was an average performance vs an average fighter. You're the one saying floyd never gets any credit, which is simply not true, he isn't getting that much credit for this fight because it was a dogsh!t fight.

You say this like it's an opinion every "Floyd Hater" holds. I've seen one person call Guerrero a bum which he then corrected as meaning not a bad fighter but just not in Floyds league (which is true as the fight shows).
Where are all these people that are now rubbishing Guerrero as a useless fighter?

Whichever face first MW plodder gave Robbo problems was an ATG. Hagler would have made mincemeat of and all Robbo's opponents and Robbo himself. SRL would have beaten every fighter SRR beat and made easy work of those MWs, yet he's lower top 10 even with 4 ATG on his ledger.
Floyd will never win even if he goes upo and beats Wlad and Vit on the same night. Some excuse will be made.
I actually believe when Floyd loses a fight he will get his due praise, he is in a lose lose situation no matter who he fights he will never get credit.
It depends on how he takes the defeat. If he is humble etc, he will be loved. If he loses a close fight and doesnt accept it, he become grosly overrated. Look at how Eubank became loved after his loss to Collins.
You never know and your right to an extent because look at when Prince Naz lost to Barrera he took it well, that gained him many plaudits and believe me people hated Naz's charisma.
Yeah. Brits love good losers.

this, Cotto was old and past his best, but was still superior to Guerrero, even Ortiz was more of an interesting fight - due to his size/strength and power, He got huge credit for Mosley win. He would have for ortiz, if he didn't end it the way he did, Guerrero was simply outmatched, lets not pretend we're talking in hindsight, it was clear as day when it was announced
OK, so who at WW should Floyd have fought?
Am not complaining about who he fought, but am simply saying people are saying things like 'oh look how much better he is from the cotto fight, he can still dance' - ofcourse he can still dance, if he is in there with guerrero, lets not exaggerate his performance either, it was very average for his standards - some here would make you believe thats his best performance in recent years, it simply wasn't it was an average performance vs an average fighter. You're the one saying floyd never gets any credit, which is simply not true, he isn't getting that much credit for this fight because it was a dogsh!t fight.
So you're pi$$ed because he looked good in beating RG.
RG was the highest ranked WW Floyd could have fought. He makes all in the division look like plodders because he is that good. RG is a very good fighter and highly ranked. Just not in Floyd's class. In fact who is in Foyd's class?

"It's quite simple. Whoever Floyd fights is a bum after he wins easily."
This is obviously isnt true and a generalisation and assumption of opinion.
Is there even 1 example you could provide of someone calling everyone Mayweather beat a bum? There is a wide variation of opinion on all of his wins with varying degrees of credit afforded.
There are people out there who for one or another reason will not and probably never will give Mayweather enough credit. Thats life. But you act like this minority speak for everyone and is the popular opinion, and worse that any criticism of Mayweather or failure to conform to what your own evaluation of Mayweather is automatically consigns them to this minority viewpoint. Hence statements like the above.
What the result of this is, is that there is no middle ground for debate with Mayweather. You either must rate him as you do, or else you are one of those unreasonables that thinks everyone he beat was a bum and is a Mayweather hater. There is no allowance for the broad area between.
If you said that there were some people who will never give Mayweather his due credit and underrate him no matter what he does, then I would agree. But there is a distinct lack of allowance for any criticism at all of Mayweather, no real attempt at putting things into context and a trigger happy inclination to lump everyone into one singular (unreasonable) position on the matter.

Good enough for you?
The only other WW ranked higher that Floyd is JMM. Should he have rematched him after the one sided drubbing he gave him?
Who at WW should he have fought?

A quote from that same poster, so that's 1 person who does not rate the win or Guerrero.
I personally have no issue with him fighting Guerrero at Welterweight as Guerrero is a very good fighter and as you say a top ranked Welterweight. But I still don't like Floyd picking and choosing fights at Light Middleweight and then his fans, not Floyd himself just yet, saying Alvarez is too big and Floyd is excused for not fighting him despite being a Champion in the same division.
