Champions League Final
First topic message reminder :
So this weekend we have the all German final of Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich, both teams have done well to get to the final, beating a half of the El Classico each.
The biggest news for the final so far is Mario Gotze is going to miss it through injury. This avoids what would have been one of the most interesting stories going into the final with it being Gotze's last game before moving to Munich.
What are everybody's predictions? I think Bayern will finally win the final 2-1, in extra time.

Re: Champions League Final
It might be all doom and gloom at the moment but there's still a bright future for Dortmund. I think they will lose Lewandowski but apart from that I see no more departures because they are still a young team and German football is still a good place to be. Over the past three seasons they would of been financially rewarded for their success and they've sold Kagawa, Gotze & possibly Lewandowski for huge fees, therefore Klopp will have the power to rebuild. I don't see a job for Klopp in England that is big enough, Everton is small fry in comparison to where Dortmund are in world football now. Dortmund have a great youth system to add players from and they could easily go out this summer and spend £30m/£40m + on transfers. I would rather do that than go to Everton and struggle to spend £500k.

I agree John, they lose Gotze, they have Leitner ready to bring through or push harder to acquire Draxler, they lose Hummels, they get Howedes or Ginter or again push through Gunter.

Re: Champions League Final
If Dortmund do lose Lewandowski, Dzeko to replace him at a cut price fee looks the best bet.

Re: Champions League Final
My first post since the final.
Great final is all i can say!
When that Dortmund player scored that wonder goal which was a foul, i think that is the most mental i have ever celebrated, my lounge got destroyed with beers flying everywhere, we all got up to see it was ruled out. Gutted.
That clearance from the Dortmund player was amazing, reminded me of myself, but all joking a side it was superb. To think Palace could of signed him
Robben's goal at the end was like a fifa goal. It was frustrating, i imagine every pub in England got swear words galore when that went in.
Superb final, Bayern probably deserved it. But full credit to Dortmund making the final is a superb achievement.

That dortmund player is known as Lewandowski and the one who cleared it of the line was Subotic but yeah both times it was mental.

Re: Champions League Final
That said you can see where Pep and Bayern could look to improve. Schweinsteiger and Martinez really struggled to take charge of midfield, especially in the first half. Ribery was a passenger for most of the game. Dante and Boateng looked suspect with pace bearing down on them. Still room for this Bayern team to improve. Will Pep sacrifice the organisation that worked so well against a patient side like Barca for flair though.

Unfortunately my bet from when the groups were drawn proved to be the wrong German team!
Great final though, can see Bayern win a few cls on the bounce now

Re: Champions League Final
Wonder if Dortmund might have exposed a chink in the Bayern armor. Vs Barca and Juve they had time to organise themselves and from there they're very hard to attack. Dortmund didn't give them that time, and Bayern didn't really have an answer until Dortmund ran out of steam.

I think they're quite a slow team from DM back. The FBs are pretty quick but you can expose their CBs with pace. I wonder how they would have fared against Madrid in the semis.

I don't watch Bayern every week but I've seen Ribery a lot for club and country and he never seems to do anything. Ok, the pass to Robben for the first goal was decent but he's just a name and an ugly face!!
I'm pretty sure he was named player of the year in the Bundesliga and made twice as many appearances in TOTM than any other player. He was excellent in the CL except the final. He is an ugly mutha**ka though..

Faired against virtually the same Real Madrid rather well in the previous seasons CL semi.

They're just so solid everywhere, aren't they? Perhaps CB is their weakest position and it's not exactly the worst pairing in the world.

I love the Berlin Olympic stadium. Has a real "final" look about it. A bit like the old Wembley.

Re: Champions League Final
Certainly a nice stadium with a good atmosphere. Any idea of the capacity?

Thought it looked a bit bigger than that. I'd like to go to Germany one day, especially one of the big cities.
Surely that guy should have been off???
