Can't see what Gervinho would add to NUFC to be honest. Or Marseille for that matter. Average player.

Seen him play more as a winger. Actually looked decent prior to the first ACON, then seems to have fallen apart. Also was good in France for a Chanpion Lille team

Can't say I see much of him in France but since he's been here he's been average at best and by no means will Arsenal miss him. Another Wenger dud.
Maybe a move back to France will suit him.

Gervinho is simply crap. How anyone can rate him ill never know. The fact he couldn't upset or even trouble a Bradford defense speaks for itself.

Mario Mandzukic couldn't trouble a Scotland defense.

I guess its a harsh comparison. Gervinho has to face PL defenses while Mandzukic got a League 1 level defense to face.

I dont mind Gervinho. Hes about as consistent as Nani. There were some guys he played for Arsenal where teams couldnt handle him. Harshly judged, luxury players like that stand out when a team isnt playing well. When Arsenal were clicking he was a very good foil for them on the wings. At the right club he will go back to performing.

I guess we will see how Mario does in the PL next season
Also on Gervinho
He's friends with Cabaye guessing to stop him leaving your lot plus they worked well @ Lille

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Seriously tho harsh to say he is a League 1 player, more higher end Champ to lower Prem side standard
And I doubt he'll be going to Villa, I think they're more likely to be going abroad. Plus I doubt the last club McNally/Bowkett will sell too, will be one managed by Mr Lambert

Raphael Honigstein is reporting on Twitter that Dortmund are refusing to sell Lewandoski to Bayern, and will either sell him to a club outside of Germany, or let him run out his contract.

I think the Lewandowski thing is the only major transfer story today. If that is the case, I can definitely see Chelsea going for him, and think that would be an excellent move, especially if they can get him cheap, with his contract running out.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Apparently Lukaku is going to be staying at Chelsea, West Brom have already been told.
Sunderland might sign Kevin Davies, which would be an awful signing. He's 36 now and wasn't good enough for the Championship last year.
Iago Aspas is about to seal his move, £7.7 million apparently. Hopefully that'll be a good signing. Can play anywhere across the front line which is good.
Higuain won't move until a new manager is appointed at Madrid.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Arsenal sold van Persie for £20m odd and he only had one year left on his contract and Kagawa wasn't cheap either. Granted Lewandowski doesn't have PL experience but it's near impossible to see him not fitting into the right PL team. I think he'll go to Real Madrid for about £20m, especially if they're set to lose 1 or 2 strikers. Come to the red half of Manchester

I think if Lewandowski joined United that would be the end of Rooney and would ruin RVP

The only rumor i can really give out is that Mario Mandzukic will join Spurs/Arsenal or AC Milan for 13m in the event that Lewandowski will join Bayern

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I'd have thought Gomez would be sold before Mandzukic is.
I can't see United signing Lewandowski unless Rooney is sold, even then it's hard to see as RVP would be pushed out of the main forward role presumably.
I'm thinking relatively cheap TSJ, Lewandowski for £20 million is a pretty decent signing I'd have thought.

Lewandowski. Arsenal should definitely be trying to stick their noses in, so should Chelsea and Spurs. He'd be amazing for Arsenal, used to playing in a side that love to tippy tappy around but physical and greedy too.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I think most United fans would gladly swap Lewandowski for Rooney at the moment!
Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I said about Cavani being willing to join Mourinho on Saturday and that interview has just been released only today. When I was told that, I also heard that Chelsea have met the £53m release clause of Cavani, however no deal will be concluded until after he returns from Confederation Cup duty.
I also agree, I don't see how Lewandowski and RVP could play together, too similar in my opinion and I really can't see Rooney going anywhere at all.

Rooney is good but i feel he has used the club to get he needs too much and feels he is bigger than the club.

Not saying Lewandowski is a better player but Rooney has peed a lot of fans off this summer and it can't be good for the dressing room! Get Rid!

I think its quite important for Moyes to win this one and keep him there. Think it shows a lot of different things about his management.

It depends which way you look at it though, it can be seen as weak and allowing Rooney to essentially walk all over the club...again!
He doesn't really have an excuse this time, they've been competitive in the transfer market signing Young, Van Persie and Kagawa amongst others, City haven't overtaken them.
Moyes keeps him, it'll only happen again in the future.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I think him leaving means he shows a strop can get you the chance to leave. Plus Moyes comes in and says I've convinced Wayne, a popular squad member and perceived old foe (as such), that he should remain with the team. Sends out messages to his players and the media that he commanded the respect and was strong enough to make a decision. If he sells him Rooney gets what he may want from it. If Rooney goes on to find his form again then Moyes looks a genius for keeping him or a fool if hes let him go. He doesnt play well then it will be taking someone else playing very well to keep him out of the team anyway, thus success and Rooney can then be sold.
Not only that I dont think Rooney probably demanded he leave, I imagine he said if my place is marginalised then I want to leave and Fergie was crafty as ever and put the onus on Wayne and took command of the rumours rather than other way around. And if he isnt going to play/not play up front then he has a right to want to leave. I think my perspective comes from supporting a club where players want to leave more often than they do at top clubs so im not as fussy when it happens. Hell, Ronaldo is still a hero and he peed them around a lot more.

I still personally recon Fergie will have a big say in the whole Rooney thing. Despite it being Moyes job, Fergie won't sit back and watch him leave. I said this the whole time, back when this saga happened.

Johnny Russel from Dundee United to Derby County 750k
So it begins, hope it goes well for the lad, big test for Jackie Mac, he's done well in his short time imo setting out his teams and bringing through youth but he's going to have to rebuild our strike force now as well as shoring up a defence where our best centre back is literally still at school.

Not a huge fan. Interesting to see Norwich moving to spend decent money up front and Im sure Leeds fans will be relieved the targets are more interesting these days. Holt surely on the way now.
Id be spending in midfield and defence though

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Defence is pretty sorted, although I think we'll see another LB come in. Maybe get some loan signings there I think.
Attack is the place where we need more quality. Our current forwards are RVW, Holt, Becchio and Vaughan. With Vaughan/Holt's futures uncertain (Vaughan almost certainly gone), we need more bodies and quality.
Leeds fans can relax

Gonna have to agree to disagree about your defence, I know you're a Turner fan and that Bassong is very well liked but whilst the latter can be very good I think hes prone to being suddenly very bad, whilst I have no positive feelings towards Turner (which really caused our romance to struggle)
