A swedish newspaper reporting we've had a bid accepted for Martin Olsson
Is he the good one?
Yeah. Seems Vaughan will head their way as part of the deal. Good for both sides

I saw that in the Metro. Naughton would be decent. Wouldn't go anywhere near Livermore. He's the worst midfielder currently playing for a top six side at the minute.

Livermore isn't good enough for the Prem IMO.
Naughton on the other hand is a great player and would be a decent signing for the mighty Norwich if they sign him.
Andy Carroll deal should be completed tomorrow i understand, so superb news out there for all West Ham fans. Mind you i saw some sort of twitter poll earlier and a fair few people were not happy with the signing, mind you it could of been people just voting and not caring e.g. not being a West Ham fan.

I'm not sure I could see the Naughton one happening, seeming as he played a fair bit for Spurs last season, and did well on the whole. If it did, I'd be ecstatic
Livermore I don't personally rate, but I'd be willing to give him a chance if he came in on loan

Best "rumour" so far - Marchisio to Man Utd I love reading these sites that say "X is rumoured to be joining Y" yet provide 0 evidence for it, especially if the website reporting it is goal.com.

Considering hes reportedly going to be 100k a week, I can see how a West Ham would doubt that, given his issues getting fit.

I am chuffed with Carroll. 80k coming from the special bank account Dave Sullivan has for strikers. Best option we could get and the lad played wonderfully for us. Chuffed.

I think Carroll is a good signing for West Ham, but those wages are quite staggering for a guy that has quite a lot of fitness issues...

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I like Carroll, but he definitely shouldn't be on £100k a week, his form last year didn't warrant that, I'm surprised West Ham would pay anybody that kind of money. I think that is more than Suarez is on currently. Good signing apart from that though for West Ham, think if Carroll can stay fit he'll be one of the top forwards next year and will hopefully be firing on all cylinders for the World Cup.
Don't think resigning Pennant is a bad thing, it's only a 12 month deal and he's a decent squad player. Always thought he was a little underrated, got a decent cross on him, can beat a man. Suits a mid-table side like Stoke as a squad player. Obviously as a person he seems to be a bit of a prat.
I don't rate Livermore at all and can't see him every succeeding at Tottenham, he might be better off moving to a side like Norwich if he can or always dropping down a level. Would say he's about as good as Spearing who actually had a decent year for Bolton. (Will always like Spearing, mainly because he's probably one of the hardest working footballers I've ever seen, albeit one whose not really that good.) Naughton is alright, I don't think he's ever going to be a top class full back, but he's a decent player to fill in holes, like John O'Shea.
Would love to see Marchisio move to the Premier League, even though that rumour will be bogus. Think Chelsea would always be the most likely team to sign him and he'd be perfect for them I imagine.

The Guardian are reporting that Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Porto's Christian Atsu. Don't know a great deal about him, but he supposed to be another winger/forward. Not sure if they will try to get either him or Luis Alberto. Seems like overkill to get both of them.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I would not be surprised to see him take a little money from Liverpool but he will not be on 100k, it will be 80k and frankly Sullivan will supplement a little bit as he has done with big wages when he has taken a risk in the past. Its a big part of a plan now to look like a bigger club than our current standing as we move into the Olympic Stadium, as with new sponsors and kits being made by Adidas again. I feel we have a better striker than half the teams in the league possess, personal opinion of course, and you cant blink at that in our second season back in the league.
Not a fan of Livermore but hes young and will use the ball better than Johnson. Norwich give players a fair crack generally so you'll know if hes any good. Hes obviously had enough to make Arry a fan and he hasnt been too bad with youth over the years. Naughton also seems worthy of proving himself at Norwich, another low risk signing as such and has proved capable at Spurs if not outstanding.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
It seems Rodgers is in forward overkill at the moment, I think until the Suarez future is sorted out, a forward pool of Suarez, Sturridge, Borini, Aspas is fine, with Yesil and Morgan in back up, particularly when we tend to only use one forward, although I appreciate he seems to be looking at forwards who can play as wingers as well.
Don't want the squad to be over inflated when we're not even in the Europa League, get knocked out of the cup competitions and Rodgers is left with the choice of rotating the side a lot, disrupting any kind of form and fluidity or leaving some players very unhappy.

Real Madrid have reserved their number 11 shirt for Gareth Bale.
I imagine this is a ridiculous rumour, but I think it's the Mirror who are reporting that Barcelona are preparing a bid for Juan Mata as Mourinho doesn't rate him. If Mourinho doesn't rate Mata, he didn't watch Chelsea last year and knows nothing about football.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Which is ridiculous, Bale isn't close as good as Ronaldo was from 07-09 when they paid £80 million and I don't think prices have inflated that much since then.
Ronaldo scored 68 in 102 games in those two seasons, better than a goal every game. In 07-08 when he wasn't as unsettled, he got 42 in 49, which are world class numbers.
Gareth Bale on the other hand, over the last two seasons, obviously his best, has scored 38 goals in 86 games. That's very good, but it's not world class and it's certainly not £100 million.
I'd say Bale should go for about £50 million at most.

Its the way Madrid and Barca play the game, and its no different to big EPL who 'leak' reports of interest in players to leverage them.

I like Andy Carroll a lot, but even I find it hard to believe that's true
To have paid a collective of 19m, and now 80-100k a week for a striker who's only scored 27 Prem goals in 4 season in the Prem is quite staggering
Hopefully for West Ham he can stay fit

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Walcott 100k a week and now Carroll on £100k a week, that's the EPL for you. Ridiculous. Technically their both woeful but the EPL is about high tempo, counter-attacking at speed and in Walcott you have that and in Carroll's case he has aerial power and strength and that's why they are both so highly regarded because in our leagues they are key attributes to have.
Apparently, West Ham would of paid around £40m + on Carroll by the end of his contract. If Walcott has a good season next year then I'm sure Higuian will be a good signing. If Walcott doesn't produce the goods then Higuain could struggle because Gonzalo has no real pace and likes everything on a plate.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
He'll be on 80k, the new TV money plus the chairman's love of a striker and other financial factors mean its not a boom or bust risk for us. Unfortunately Liverpool completely inflated his value and his wages, but the £15m (or £15.5m) we will be paying is definitely at least standard for a 24 year old England international striker who has not had a bad game for us. Im absolutely chuffed its six years too, wont be going anywhere cheaply. I see it as nothing but great news, if a little bit expensive news.
Hes also set to be fit for the start of the season. And his technique is far better than woeful, but he's tall so its generally ignored

You've got a decent player there Chris. I'm a tad sad that he's left Liverpool for good.
A fit Andy Carroll will bag you 15 league goals. Good luck to him.
