Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Apparently Mkhitaryan has a buy out clause in his contract of £20 million, so that solves John's problem of Shaktar not wanting to sell. They won't have a choice. Liverpool have apparently said they are willing to meet it. Will be interesting to see if he sacrifices European football for the higher pedestal of English football. I think if he arrives, Suarez is gone as well.

20m is a bit steep but then again he is young and looks like a great player.

Also they have cashed in on Fernandinho, so with him going and then Mkhita possibly they will be able to get some great players in.

Thanks Crimey for clearing that up with that release clause, just did not make sense why Shakhtar were just selling Willian, Fernandinho and then Mkhitaryan all inside six months. I thought the owners must of run out of oil or something......

I agree.
Although I think that's essentially how their club works, they get these young players in for cheap and then sell them for huge profits. A bit like Porto. Perhaps Ukraine has lenient visa laws.

They've already signed Wellington Nem and Mario Fernandes from Brazil I think have Shakhtar, for their next batch of youngsters to bring through
Mkhitaryan would be an interesting signing for Liverpool. I'm not so sure it would spell the end for Suarez as Crimey says

I just think the rumours for him only started after Suarez said he wanted to leave, I can't see the club spending £20 million one player without it being reimbursed with the Suarez deal.
So far, we've made no money on transfers but have spent £7.7 million on Aspas, brought in Toure, probably £8-10 million on Mignolet, the money has to come from somewhere!

I don't think they're willing to pump in money any more.
Got no European football either this year. Even the Europa League will give a healthy boost to the pockets I imagine.

It's probably a blessing though as Liverpool won't be jetting to Turkey/Russia/Ukraine/Greece 3 days before a league match. I'm sure they'd sacrifice that money so the team stays reasonably fresh for the league. With the right players coming in and going out, Liverpool are probably dark horses for 4th spot because they'll have a decent enough squad but have no European football to worry about.

I don't think Liverpool will get top 4 this year at all, even with Suarez it will be a tough task. Are Liverpool better than Tottenham or Arsenal right now? I don't think so.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Perhaps not better than these two but that hasn't stopped other teams in the past. If Arsenal strengthen in the summer and get in the calibre of players they've been linked with then no, Liverpool will not make the top 4. If they don't, you never know, but they are definitely dark horses. Spurs always seem to end up making a mess of it somehow anyway.

Can't be Chelsea, would not make sense. Surely West Ham or a promoted side. Also hearing that if Cavani leaves Napoli they are lining up Oscar Cardozo from Benfica as he is apparently seeking a new challenge.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Dutch Football @DutchftLeague
PSV and Norwich City have agreed on a €5.7m transfer fee on Toivonen. Toivonen: " I'll talk with Norwich and see what comes out." #ncfc
Michael Bailey @michaeljbailey
So there's a new Ola Toivonen line today - he's opened talks with #ncfc over a summer move. Another little step to wherever this one ends.
Local journos on both sides seem to suggest the fee has been struck and talks have begun. Now it's upto Toivonen. Some Norwich fans seem to be in outrage that he's taking time over this, furthering my opinion that some are genuinely retarded

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
We were linked with Toivonen for ages as a big strong physical striker to partner Cisse but it never happened. Got a good record but glad we didn't buy him, be interesting to see how he does if he joins. I think he thinks he's probably too good for Norwich.
Love it how everyone's trying to work out the Vydra bid. You never know it could be Kinnear......oh dear.

But if you are being serious, there was a reason Vydra won championship player of the season!

By fluke. Because there teamed turned up and got lucky on the day.
But in all seriousness, i follow the Championship very closely, i have seen Vyrda a lot including his stunning performance at the AMEX in December. He is pure class and is easily better than Zaha.
Also he has a better attitude.

It's all very well Lambert buying young players but come on, they must need experience in that team (although on saying that the Barcelona B side do pretty well despite having a young team).

I actually hope he has a good season next year and injury free. Can see him playing a big role for England in the future if he does well. That should free up Liverpool to complete some business on the Armenian & Mignolet. Then Jose Manuel Reina can move to Barcelona. If only it could run as smooth as that......
