Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
First topic message reminder :
Jayawardene does bugger all but scratch around for 18 balls looking horribly out of form, then comes down the track and smacks the bowler straight over his head for a six. Class!
Ball again. Jesus umpires, get on with it

Cookie agrees...
Fair enough. Time for Finn to justify his selection - attack for two or three overs.

Its really sad the Champions Trophy is finished. This has been miles better than any WC in recent memory.

Main problem is that the WC just drags on for over a month, with many one-sided fixtures. This tournament has been short and sweet, quite a few close games as well.

Thats the truth to it Duty. Its been short, sweet and every single game has counted. Also hasn't been a run fest.

Another one for Tredders. England sauntering to the final, 70/6. Another good catch by Buttler.

Faf du Plessis is gone now, he was the one batsman who looked comfortable.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
Anderson has bowled very well, Tredwells had a good spell, and the balls done a bit in the air.
But there is no excuse for this lineup being 70-6. Pathetic batting performance.

Miller is SA's joint 3rd highest scorer after 4 balls. Says it all really.

The England bowlers are bowling really very well, but the South Africans are batting like rabbits in the headlights. Playing at wide ones, leaving the ones very close to the stumps.

I honestly wouldn't say Broad and Finn have bowled particularly well. Both got handed wickets from wide deliveries.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
I see a serious fight shaping up within the England bowling unit here!!. All of them would want to have that ball in hand!. Wickets are being freely given away. Miller now trying hard to get out, the ball just falling short of the fielder.

Considering this looks a good pitch , SA have been terrible. But England must press home their advantage ...don't want the tail wagging...
McLaren not wagging anyway...great work from Trott !

Morris is a pretty handy number nine.
But get one of these and England will surely be batting before "lunch"

I'd have given it stumping personally, and I think Tredwells asking the umpire haha.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
How will Miller and Morris go about dealing with this situation? Both are attacking batsmen, not quite used to playing the innings building role. Will they try to counterattack or will they try and bat out the overs for now and build a partnership of some kind?

So will SA look to inch their way to 150? Or just slog and hope something comes off for them?

80/8. I'm rather glad we're doing this to South Africa after what they did to us last year in the cricket and the rugby.

Run out because it left his hands isn't it? Even if it were Buttler, it left the players hands?

Kleinveldt, they say can bat a bit. He's in at 10. South Africa bat deep they say, but even 15 batsmen may not be enough today!. Atrocious performance.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
I would have thought to be run-out you have to attempt a run...
Anyway, Tredwell gets Morris.
Batting PP: good blow from Miller - got to go for it, and he can hit some serious shots.

Tredwell continues. Don't see the point in holding Anderson back anymore, Tredwell is doing a great job, so Jimmy can come back from the other end.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
Power play. Sixer for Miller ...SA need a few more of those. Or at least a solid tailend effort from these two.
Bopara hasn't bowled yet. Suppose England will be happy to take the risk of having him and Root share the last ten ? Otherwise he will have to come on after about thirty overs...

England asking for the review here. Kleinveldt, only 44 short of his 50. England lost the review.
