Now that the season has drawn to a close, I thought I'd put up a thread to discuss possible transfer business.

Bolton sign Gary Fraser from Hamilton - Heard this guy is a real gem and could be one to look out for next season in the Championship.
Gillingham sign Cody McDonald from Coventry - Player i have always rated, probably good enough for the Championship, a goal machine.
Bury sign John Rooney from Orlando City - He is the younger brother of Wayne Rooney
Today's football league transfers

Exactamundo. Albion beat Liverpool twice last season, it doesn't mean we're suddenly the better team. The league table does not lie.compelling and rich wrote:Hulking_up wrote:What's Evertons record against Liverpool over the last 5 years?Azzy Mahmood wrote: Everton are better than Liverpool.
well everton have placed higher than liverpool in the last two seasons, and we all know the league table is the true reflection on how good a side is

Ah Thiago, that should have been wrapped up last week to stop anyone else getting a sniff. I wouldn't blame him at all if/when he chooses Bayern because they're the best team in the world at the moment. The only problem there is where does he fit in their team? Does he replace Kroos, Muller, Schweinsteiger, Martinez, Ribery, Robben or the other guy who's name I can't remember? If Kroos is surplus to requirements I'd take him. I don't see him getting many games under Pep but maybe I'm wrong. Still, it's not over until it's over.

We'd obviously wanted it done before we flew for pre season, the u21s shortened our window somewhat and he's obviously been getting tapped up by bayern.
Pity.

I doubt he needed to be tapped up by Bayern, it wasnt secret knowledge that he had this clause.

Also has Wanyama joined Southampton? What a signing for them, as much as i hate to say it, wouldn't rule them out for a top half finish next season.
Been confirmed on the BBC. Been interesting to see how he goes, but has bags of potential.

I do worry if it's a bit of a sideways step for Wanyama though. He's got Premier League football, but now no European football, his career could definitely stall at Southampton, although I imagine he sees it as a stepping stone.

honestly gutted for Wanyama, obviously as a Rangers fan, I was able to watch SPL a bit more objectively last season and I saw what the hype was about. Southampton can't touch celtic in terms of the size of the club, the fan base, the passion, the stadium.... but they play in EPL and have money...sigh

Fair point Crimey, but there are talking a big game at St Marys. The chairman's aiming for Champions League football. Not saying they'll get it, but they are signing players of the right age from Champions League clubs. Wouldn't surprise me to see the Saints in Europe within the next two years.

Or going the way of Portsmouth, they're playing a dangerous game. I can't see those players sticking around long enough for them to reach Europe, if Ramirez and Wanyama play well enough a bigger club will snap them up. Problem is the prices they're playing for those players means they're not even going to make a massive profit.

Living on the South coast, I can say the Portsmouth comparison is extremely silly. Marcus Leibherr's, who owned Southampton prior to his death was an extremely reputable businessman, compared to the various charlatans who had a hand in Pompey's demise, and left them in good shape financially. They were one of the few PL teams to post a profit as well, whereas Pompey had been running at a loss for years. They've got a far better infrastructure to what Pompey, had in terms of stadia, and youth facilities.
I don't think they've spent particularly recklessly either, as they've spent a similar amount to the likes of West Ham's and Swansea,

Someone links us with him EVERY window, can't wait for that to happen. Today's west ham tidbits: Ba is still the favoured target as a second striker, Zapata the Columbian we agreed a fee for will not likely get a work permit so we will end our interest, also linked with Inter's Kuzmanovic and continuing business in France too.

Quagliarella is past his best and being shipped out for Tevez n Llorente. Can`t see him swapping Turin for Norwich.
Agree with Crimey, Southampton paying ridiculous fees to progress and limiting their resale value profit, £12m for Wanyama......never.
Kinnear still on holiday.

Same old story with Ashley though. We want Bent but won't pay the fee. Wanted Bony, wouldn't pay the fee. Want Tompkins (not sure why) but been put off by £6m asking price. Ince was massively overpriced so we pulled out, same story with Will Hughes from Derby.
Just seems no progress or direction or plan we are committing too.

I don't understand how you can suffer an injury this severe in what was referred to as a light training session
I reckon he's leaving for a medical somewhere
On other news does anybody follow @indykaila on twitter? He reckons there's exciting united transfer news coping up tonight. But in the past he has also claimed united had agreed to sign strootman after the mini euros and thiagos dad was on his way to tell barca his son wants to move to United

We are away on pre season - traditionally we try and have our business done by then.
I'd be surprised if we sign anyone this summer. Everton are going to play hard over Baines and Thiago looks like he is off to Bayern.

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Jeremy Helan from Man City - He could be a good signing for this level, heard some good things about him
Notts County sign Danny Haynes from Charlton - Always classed him as a super sub, but i recon he will bang a few in at League one level
Cheltenham sign Terry Gornell from Rochdale - He doesn't look like a footballer.

Very good signing, impressive last year and should replace an ageing Alonso.
