Probably shows aside from Clarke, Australia's batting is a weak as helltrebellbobaggins wrote:Anderson getting this in less friendly conditions than siddle by far, says a lot for him.

Great over from Anderson
Siddle in the bag ...and should have had Starc...Swann would catch that nineteen times out of twenty.

Aus just have nothing imo..
England arnt even playing that well and are leagues ahead. We ave a team. They have a bunch of county level individuals..

Should be remembered that they then have to face siddle and try to remember not to hand over their wickets if they can get this Aussie team, which sky say have no tail, out.

They honestly said it though, no tail, all world class batsmen.

Re: Ashes: First Test
James Pattinson was such an irritant against India with the bat both in India and even in the away series in 2011. He had even turned the first test of that series with the bat with a couple of crucial efforts with the bat. And he's leaving well here.

Its not personal Jimmy... No need to level up...
I think he has done that fairly conclusively , kingraf

Yip... Shows how far Aus has fallen... They need a batting line-up.... Im still not sure Haddin for Wade was smart, and Ive made my feelings about Smith for Warner known...

This is even worse than the batting line-up South Africa had 21-9

Re: Ashes: First Test
I think I am seeing Aussie redefine cricket here, playing with no tail and no weakness. With a team that simply cannot fail to bat.
As you say msp, its just match savers all the way down.
This has changed the game, the tail concept has ended.

And being serious, this is a rare bowling dominated gaming for this era.
It's nice to see after a year of flat tracks. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if Aussie rip England a new one just the same with siddle in form.

Alfie - yeah towards the end I was just winding up... But the records did show that since 2012 Siddle had been the better bowler.. Not sure why so many took offense, it was like the time many here seriously thought Bresnan was better than Philander..

Interesting to note, fitness permitting, Cook, KP, and Clarke would have all reached a 100 test caps by the end of the Austalian Ashes.

Warney could bat pretty well as well, so Agar must be able to do the same.

Trebbs
Aus are in turmoil..
they have been gifted a great situation (which I cannot see them getting again in this sewries) and still cant even get close..
Its more about the politics of aus cricket over the quality of players IMO.England are at home and are just to good to give them many more sniffs. If they cant take advantage of this sniff- I dont have high hopes they can change things that quickly tbh..
Maybe they will get closer in AUs. but i cant see it here tbh.
You cant just click your fingers in sport. It takes time to turn it around.

Aga got 50 against Scotland so these two should be able to getaussie a lead here and let siddle win it.

Been out all morning and get back to see this. Brilliant!
Swann should do the job with two lefties at the crease, if not then get Finn on asap to wrap it up with some pace and bounce at Agar.

Yeah...well I actually do rate Siddle. But when judging players you need to look a bit into the figures over a short period. Like who they are playing against and where.
Most people would agree Jimmy , right now , is a better bowler than anyone else around...except Steyn of course.

Re: Ashes: First Test
this has turned into an unbelievably one sided game.
every one run seems equal to two runs.....
Eng a.o 430 and Aus 250-9....would put a better perspective on the situation

Australia really suffering from Husseys retirement. Clarke simply has too much to carry... I understand that family comes first. But Im very annoyed at a guy who claimed he couldnt keep being away from family playing IPL for nine weeks.
