The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way back to London where the victorious British & Irish Lions squad will start their 25 day open bus journey across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland - being greeted by millions of happy, proud, delirious, tipsy and slightly sunburned rugby fans.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy their well-earned procession through the streets where it all began.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Warren Gatland, Sam Warburton, Alex Corbisiero, Jonathan Sexton, George North, Jamie Roberts and Richie Gray.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
That reminds me of a joke.
Dai was from Cardiganshire. When he died his wife thought she better put a notice in the paper. She phoned up and said: "if you put a notice in the paper next week do you charge per word?" "Yes madam" "ok then I'll put one in" "certainly, madam what's the wording?" "Dai dead" "I'm sorry?" "Dai dead" "that's a bit short isn't it, there isnt much information, I mean we have a six word minimum charge..."
The line went quiet for a bit...
"Dai Pantyclau dead, Volvo for sale..."

I don't know if it's Dai Pantyclau's Volvo. I suppose I can ask.

£895. I don't need a car that big, but I think they're awesome and this one's in really good nick.

That doesn't seem at all bad. The mileage won't be an issue, they'll easily do twice that if they're looked after. Go for it, why the heck not?!

Afternoon pub. I made the mistake of walking two miles up to the pub. Well, that wasn't the mistake; forgetting to take the bottle of water I had chilling in the fridge since 8am was. When I realised, I was half a mile past the only shops en route.
Now pumping iced orange and soda down me.

How hot is it getting there, Hound? I think it's only (only!) 25 here today, which is down on the past few days.

30C I reckon, but considerably more if you're in the sun lucky.
Apparently it will be hotter tomorrow, and it's the London 606 summer drinks meet up in Victoria. I hate the Victoria line and will get there a bit early to miss the rush hour.

It was hot enough on the Tube when I was in London the other week, and the heatwave hadn't kicked in properly then.

A trick in this heat to stay cool(er). Run cold water over the inside of your wrists for about 30 seconds each. It cools the blood and I've found it helps.

We're playing the Scarlets too, but that's barely worth mentioning...

Fair enough lucky - our teams have been pooled together a lot recently in the cups.

I've just checked Wasps' fixtures and am pleased to see that the majority of our home AP games are on a Saturday rather than Sunday.

Wish the Pro12 would pull their finger out and reveal some fixtures.

At a guess the Pro12 delay could be down to TV scheduling.

Well, the Heineken Cup Final returns to its ‘spiritual home’ and guaranteed ‘neutral' venue
There will be limited accommodation at Penfro Towers , so get in quick if you want
Do you want me to take up the baton and sort out the pre-Amlin and pre-Heineken festivities ?

We could always just lock Hughie in the loo mate.
Will stay in the City this time bud. Easy access. Cardiff is definitely the best spot for the HC Final as a neutral. The stadium makes it special and its location just adds to it.
Was hoping for Rome or Edinburgh, but I'm happy with the Diff.
As for HC Final organisational batons, you invented them. No better man Penfrock.
Its hot in de Dam. Will be for a while.

Evening,
Hope you're all well. So chuffed the Heino's coming to Cardiff again. I'll have space available too - unless by way of some divine intervention, Tommy needs a gaff then you're out on your ear! Hopefully the weather will be nice again - just nowhere near as hot as this. Tomorrow I'm heading down to my mothers for fresher air and some peace.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
Quite warm here these last few days. 23 deg C in winter... 16 overnight??? what's happening? 24 again today. 8 degs above average for this time of year. No wonder I broke out in a sweat clearing up outside yesterday. Warmest July stretch since 1928.
At the game last night.
Superb atmosphere but the Lions match was better, imo. More yin & yang in that one. Last night was more yin and less yang.
Oh well, 8 in a row for Qld but if we include 'all games' from the late 19th C - we are still miles ahead. 211-108 or something.
Fair play to Qld though. Those wise old Maroon heads are always one step ahead and sure know how to close out a game.
Our blokes... well, some of them need to be put out to pasture. They simply lack what it takes and are unable to sustain pressure for long enough to put points on the board. They can make the odd break... then spill the damn pill! Too many wrong options, errors and 'what was he thinking?' moments.
That streaker covered a lot of ground... it took ages for the Keystone Cops to nab him.

Let's hope so, Hound. The 74 y.o. Lord's curse was broken last time so there should no reverse curse this series then.
Just hope they drop Ed Cowan. He's the Mitchell Pearce of Oz cricket.... get rid of him! He's totally useless at this level.
Laurie, the streaker guy was from Nelson. Maybe Pete has heard of him? I thought the first try was slightly dodgy, Thurston used one of his own players as a shepherd. That's happened twice in the last few years now. The Ref was blind to that interpretation of course.

Morning
Breaker - right now I'd take 24 degrees. Supposed to get up as high as 29 here over the next day or two. I know I'm going West, but that's not really much cooler. Last night it must have been 22 degrees at eleven o'clock...the coolest it went was about 19. I'm suprised no one's announced the usual hosepipe ban yet anywhere in the UK either...

Morning folks. Oh to be sat outside the King St. Brewhouse on Darling Harbour with a cool pint of Fat Yak★ on the go, and a gentle breeze wafting over me
★ nicknamed a 'Jonesy' on tour, after Adam, owing to the beer's slogan - 'Big and hairy but very approachable'.

Fond memories, eh Hound? That's not a bad brew.
Cari, 29's not too bad. Try 46, and 32 at midnight. Horrible!
What's odd is that I cannot remember July (think of your January) being this warm for a few days. It's like a preview for spring. They said a cold change will arrive on the weekend (some snow down south) but it's been nice not having to switch on the heater for a couple of days.

Ah, Lb - too right.
We uncovered lots of good ale in Aus. Our favourite was Little Creatures Pale Ale (from Freemantle). Absolutely lush.
On a pub crawl in London last Sat. we came across it in a pub near Kings Cross.
And it was about half the price we were paying in Aus!!

Bore da pawb / good morning all. Freezing here today.
Breaker, what do you make of the claims of a rift bewteeen Michael Clarke and Shane Watson? Does it sound feasible? I have to say I've never really seen what Shane Watson brings to proceedings. He's not outstanding with the ball and they were saying the other day that he makes plenty of 30s and 40s but hardly ever converts them into a big score.

Watson has made 20+ scores of over 50 but has only converted two into tons. Simon Hughes said that SW had asked him for advice in his 'analyst' role.
Hughes' answer wasn't exactly 'analytical' imo. Basically 'concentrate'....and don't force things.
