Aston Villa's backline has looked solid this evening - up until now, anyway. From a whipped Frank Lampard free-kick from the right, Branislav Ivanovic rises unopposed to head past Brad Guzan.
I would imagine you will hear a lot more about this goal, too, because Villa are livid. Just before that free-kick, Ivanovic caught Christian Benteke with a flailing arm and got booked. The Villa bench felt he should have been sent off.

Chelsea haven't looked great in this game, a lot of pretty stuff on the edge of the box without any cutting edge. Very un-like a Mourinho side.

Blatent handball not given.
Robbed.
Boys played well. Lot of confidence early season.
Bring on Liverpool saturday.
C'mon Villa lets get the 3 points.

Good result, bad performance. Winning ugly is something we've struggled to do over recent seasons
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I didnt mind that not being a red. Seen it compared to Taylor's against City but theres so much difference.

Villa well and truly robbed by the ref, Ivanovic should've been off and a blatent handball at the end. Truly truly shocking refereeing. They totally deserved something from that game as well

Some poor refereeing decisions, but Chelsea were pushing hard at that point anyway, Villa were just about hanging on, but I think with nearly 20 minutes to go Chelsea would have likely got the goal anyway.
Villa did well, but think Chelsea were actually quite poor.

Sounds like a tough, and controversial, victory for Chelsea. Their first real test will come on Monday at Old Trafford - I rather fancy United to win.
No doubt they'll be gutted about tonight, but Villa have had a good start to the season, and will fancy taking the scalp of Liverpool on Saturday.
I really did miss the Premier League.

Be interesting to see the way Villa's season pans out. Obviosuly confidence will be high and the youngsters have got a seaosn under their belt and will be wiser. Benteke staying is a massive bonus and if they can keep Agbonlahor fit then they've got a good side. Just wondering how they'll cope after the inevitable blip in the season. Sounds like they were robbed tonight, can't wait for Chelsea now monday, get an idea where both utd and chelsea are really.

I think Benteke sold those comings together very well. The first one was across his shoulder and neck and he drops holding his face Rivaldo style.Olly wrote:I was watching on a completely legal streamGregers wrote:I haven't seen it yet, were you watching it or listening on talk sport?Olly wrote:Villa well and truly robbed by the ref, Ivanovic should've been off and a blatent handball at the end. In previous seasons this was the kind of game Chelsea only got a point out of. So to have two wins on the board, Mourinho must be ecstatic.

Thoughts on Villa v liverpool..
Villa are 3/1 for the win!! and almost 3/1 for the draw!
Pretty decent odds IMO.

Also Norwich are 2/1 to beat Hull !
The multiple is on dudes.
Villa to win or draw (2/1) and add in norwich
Guaranteed 4/1 return. You heard it here first.

I do them pretty random CFC.
I made 900 on the opening day of the Championship on a 4 fold- but i also chucked in the tripes as well so i had 5 bets in total. All came in off course- But I would have still doubled (or more) my money if 3 had come in.
I was down quite a lot last year to fair though

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
yeah . I bet quite a lot azzy. Made a killing on every major golf tourney this year. 900 isn't even my 20th biggest win.. Not a massive gambler though(never gamble what i can't afford)- I just put decent size stakes on.
My biggest footy bet was backing two 3-2's last year - I got a return of 3500(from only a tenner), went to new york the next week.
I know its really grotesque talking about winnings- Apologies to all!!

Well I was earning a killing last year. Its been a very tough year in comparison so I haven't bet the same(buying a house and a bit lighter on work). I enjoying betting so I had a 400 quid budget a month last year.
I started off this year only betting 100 per month and luckily since the first golf major this year(won 1200 on adam scott) I haven't added a penny into my betfair account!! Just cream the odd profit off. Its been a good year for betting .

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Thats fine mate. Glad someone wins.
I normally do 4 teams to win.(£10 on)
So far this season have been 1 score away from 1,160euro
Last saturday 1 result from winning £212.
I'd rather all 4 teams lose, then get so close. So annoying.
But i'll be back down the bookies saturday.
Then 6 matches, where all 12 teams have to score.(£5).
When Villa play live, do firstgoalscorer. (won £40 on that last season).
Most I won last season in one bet was £250.
Went out that night and spent £150 of it.
Damn those hot european barmaid's and their shots.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I usually do a few between 5 fold and 9 fold for about £1-3 each and a couple of big ones 14-20 fold for £1 or under. Biggest win is £760 from a midweek 12 fold last season. Also do goals, goals, goals every weekend.
So far this season I'm down. Would have won £80 on opening day but Millwall ballsed that one. Last week Watford's comeback stopped me winning £350.

Yeah its good fun isn't it. adds a dimension to the games. Just never touch your own team
I am not going to suggest I am a winner when it comes to sports gambling (over all) . Only a very lucky individual or lier could suggest that. But this year has been kind(well since november last year anyway!!)
I used to play a lot of poker(online and off)- Big stakes don't waver me!- But sadly a 200 win doesn't feel like a win
I don't have time to play that anymore- Sports betting takes no time at all!!

I might have mentioned this before, but my best mate once lost a potential £3,500 on a bet. It was a 50p accy with about 24 international teams, and the first 23 came in, Portugal were 2-0 up on Liechtenstein, who then ended up drawing 2-2 and losing my mate that £3,500. We both cried.

I used to work with a guy who was a serious spread better, earned enough from it to leave and become a pro gambler. He used complicated systems to find gaps in different bookmakers odds. Made a fortune and Lives in Australia now in a dream house he had built.

Last time I bet on Villa, 5 other teams I had done won.
We were away to Boro, last of my 6 matches to finish.
Back to the Riverside remember Stelling saying, chance for Villa, "C'mon" I was screaming at the tv.
Girlfriend runs in, "what are you shouting about"
"need us to score for £700"
"really, well c'mon Villa score"
It was'nt to be, drew 1-1.
ps if we had won, she would'nt have seen a penny, but i thanked her for her support anyway.
