I find it rather tickling how bad the City defence is without Kompany.

You simply cant miss those chances in any game, but at one of the big sides, wow just wow. That really is going to bite them.

Ball in the net for Hull, but offside. Fantastic call from the linesman.
I have to say, City look nervous and under pressure. They are there for the taking if Hull can be bold enough.

Ah I remember the good old days when McGregor and Gordon were Scotland's keepers. Both are superb keepers but it's unfortunate one's a boozebag and the other's never fit.

This is awful from City. They're playing quite possibly the worst team in the Premiership (no disrespect intended) at home, and they're struggling.

Nothing against Michael Owen but he really doesn't have the voice for commentary. I don't mind him as a pundit though but when he's just "a voice" it bugs me.

Sergio Aguero one of the best strikers in the world is firmly in the pocket of Curtis Davies.

Early days but City look thoroughly unconvincing in nearly every area of the pitch so far. Navas is looking lively but Fernandinho is looking a bit off the pace.

Fernandinho is looking more likely with every game that he might end up being an expensive South American flop, makes me question whether Willian will be a success now.

give these players time to settle, we're three games into a season. there playing in new leagues and need time to adjust and settle. what you gonna give lamela one game before labelling him garbage? patience is all that is needed.

i think if you are experienced and have played many seasons in Europe and the cl, have had a full preseason etc you should be showing some form early on.

I'm all for giving players time but for £30m+ you expect to see something in the first few games.
Good goal there for Negredo, he's going to settle in well at City, unfortunately.

I said, i don't know where the goals are going to come from at City and people poo pooed me. There's too much tippy tap football. Silva is not a scorer, navas doesnt score, fernandinho and yaya are hardly prolific. if the striker is not on form or doesnt get the service, city struggle and that was the first half. jovetic will be found out too when he plays, plays on the left and then cuts in on his right every time. can see alot of struggling to break down teams from city this season and the bench saving them with a bit of variety.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I didn't see that post but I mostly agree with you. I don't think Dzeko can be relied on game after game to score goals which leaves Negredo and Aguero as the other two out-and-out strikers (if we assume Jovetic will play either a wide role or an "in the hole" role). However, if you're going to have two strikers those two and pretty good to have. We know Aguero's capable of scoring 25-30 goals but I think he was at his best with Tevez alongside him so if he can forge a partnership with Negredo then great for them. They have a lot of creativity but "only" have Negredo, Aguero and maybe Jovetic to score them.John wrote:I said, i don't know where the goals are going to come from at City and people poo pooed me. Hull needed Nikola Zigic on the line to stop that!! He couldn't have done any better with that one if he tried 100 more times.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
It's not like Fernandinho has had a baptism of fire, in games against Newcastle, Cardiff and Hull he should have been able to show his class and dictate games. I'm somebody who really rated the deal but so far he's not looked at all like a £30 million player. Early days but so far I'm not sure what he's offering, he's not even allowed Toure to break forward often.
Huddlestone has been a good signing for Hull so far, usually their best player.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I'll reserve my judgement on City's new players until at least six or seven games. Also, see what effect they have in the Champions League, somewhere where Fernandinho has excelled in. City were awful today, you can't just signal out the odd players. Yaya hardly did anything of note before the goal. I'd expect Jovetic to struggle too after coming back from injury and adjusting to his role and the EPL. It's easier for a striker to have the goal impact and catch the eye, rather than a holding central midfielder. £30m, yeah it's over-priced but everyone is over-priced nowadays.

Doesn't help the big boys not playing on saturdays. these are all mid-table to relegation threatened teams matching up and cancelling each other out n everton are hardly prolific away from home.

Newcastle 0-6 Liverpool
Newcastle 0-3 Sunderland
Newcastle 0-1 Arsenal
Newcastle 0-0 West Ham
Newcastle 0-0 Fulham (10 mins to go)
How much longer can this go on? How we haven't scored today is beyond me, just hit the bar

That's a poor result at home for WHU. Gouffran couldn't hit a barn door, truly diabolical last week and now this week, in front of an open goal.

Stoke have done alright under Mark Hughes so far, think they'd have taken 4 points at the start of the year from 3 games.

Very, very poor. Stoke played it around well, deserved the three points. We look bad without Carroll, Maiga does nowhere near enough. Very frustrating start to the season. Need to work the numbers and find wage space for an addition or two.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
We should be on first, hopefully. Hatem basically carried that team from the first minute, sensational performance and a world-class goal. He was the difference. Delighted with the win, we needed it that's for sure. Gouffran......woeful. Fulham were poor, offered very little and Berbatov looks half the player he was last season. Great 3 points, we still have serious issues, especially if Cabaye leaves. 4 points from 9 is okay.
