On this form he has a great chance against Djokovic in the semis. For Andy he needs to work out a game plan against hard hitters as these defeats against them are getting tedious.
Still I refuse to be distraught as it has been a wonderful last year and a bit for Andy but today he was beaten by the better man.

Back hand cross courts,
Breath taking Backhand volleys
Forehand down the lines
cool spinny smashes
Spinning disguising serves and finally his
Backhand slice means Wawrinka brought everything today for the match compared to his opponent who left everything in the dressing room.
Stan proves why people call him Stan the Man.
While I feel sorry for Murray's loss but he rightly deserved to lose today as the better man won.
Murray back to drawing board with Lendl pls, we need better performance from you.

I just hope Stan can maintain this kind of form. Tennis like that deserves not only to win matches, but titles too

Now we have to hope the other pusher is sent packing. Shame Stan couldnt take out Nadal as well. Maybe he still can.

Well done Stan As I've said, I've never seen him play this well for a whole match without relenting. He's a real contender to reach the final now if he plays like this against Djokovic and I see no reason why he won't perform on the day. Put me down for Wawrinka to make the O2 this year. Murray.... well you can't win them all.

Well done Stan, superb performance.
Andy? Well.... After a superb 15 or so months, back down to earth with a huge bang. If he'd hit and missed it would have been less disappointing, but at least hit! I suppose easier said than done when you can't find any aspects of your game...
Hope Stan can reproduce that in the semis. Though I doubt Novak will be anywhere near as generous.

Does anyone know what the implications of this exit, combined with the disappointing HC swing has for Murray's ranking?

One in a tornado and other weak draw and final opponent knackered. Same with olympics. You can pretend otherwise, but you know it's true. Murray is nowhere near the level of Djok, and he cant reach the level of in form stan either., Your hero is a pusher, MATE. LOL You should be glad he's playing in the power era. Shove this cry baby sock in the 80s and he would be dismantled.CaledonianCraig wrote:Get back in your cave mate eh? Stan is in the form of his life for sure whilst Andy was very poor - look at the stats. Stan could feed off Murray's angst and just got stronger and stronger and better and better whilst Murray just wasn't at the races. Your statement is odd when Murray has an 8-6 Head-to-Head against him. Well played Stan and keep focussed and who knows he may just be able to do the impossible.lydian wrote:Come on CC, I don't think any form Murray would beat this Wawrinka!

Many gratz to Stan the man, great work. If it is the nearly inevitable Djoko semi, it could be a humdinger if he brings that game back.
I like to think everyone has their time, Andys time was wimbledon, it wasnt his time these 2 weeks, lets face it hes nothing else to prove
Who knows maybe its the time of the under appreciated, ala gasquet and wawrinka. Theyl be good semis to watch thats for sure, its about time we had a classic involving the big guns in this slam

Murray will be forgotten in years to come. No one wants to tune into a pusher or replay a pusher match. Only the true greats are remembered. And I'm afraid that isn't your hero. was great watching him get his pushing ass handed to him, powerless to do anything about real talent.CaledonianCraig wrote:Oh dear you are an angry soul aren't you? Re: US Open - Matches
Yes and this was an Andy way below par. Look at the stats - they don't lie and look at Andy's returning (very poor) and serving (poor). You aren't going to be competitive against anyone with stats like that even against a player on lesser form.lydian wrote:This is Stan 2.0, the guy who pushed Djokovic hardest at AO13.CaledonianCraig wrote:Stan is in the form of his life for sure whilst Andy was very poor - look at the stats. Re: US Open - Matches
Very happy for Stan's first SF. He won the match.
Murray's form or lack thereof is irrelevant. The signs that Murray was struggling were already there in the Murray-Istomin match.
Norman/Luthi need to pump Stan to push Djokovic a la AO. Bring it on! I would love to see two new faces on the Finals day.

Sorry but we all know Fred Perry and to many because his name always mentioned as last Brit to win a slam. Murray now stands there and perhaps will be mentioned for 77 years as well so how can he be forgotten? It is incredible how bitterness twists ones mind is it not?tennisrobert wrote:Murray will be forgotten in years to come. No one wants to tune into a pusher or replay a pusher match. Re: US Open - Matches
Every "fandom" does it. I won't accept it from anyone about anyone and hopefully I've never made any excuses about Murray because, quite frankly, it's pathetic. "Nadal's knees, Roger's back, Andy's back" etc. Some people are too wrapped up in things which, at the end of the day, really don't affect them. Murray play below-par, Stan played at probably 90% of his best and it was enough on the day. The better player never lost a tennis match.CaledonianCraig wrote:Well is that not always a trump card played by Roger's fans here? The Special Juan wrote:Oh Greg Why must he try and justify a defeat?

Andy was below par, yes, but I still think Stan would have won whatever today. He played lights out tennis.
To be honest though I would never expect Novak or Rafa to turn in a slam performance like Andy there at QF stage. I don't think Andy is best hard court returner ever either. As discussed this morning Andy still has a lot of technical gremlins in his game that scupper him against guys with variety.
