Morrison was still too much of a gamble at the time though. Plus by all accounts he is thriving because he has got out of certain circles so there is a fair chance he wouldn't have blossomed whilst living in Manchester. Hopefully he has put the worst of his troubles behind him and can do well for both club and country. Would be a huge waste of talent otherwise.

Well he is playing good football, good on him.. Shame to see they basically swapped him out for Zaha though and one has the chance to play because he was naughty and the other doesn't because he wasn't!

Swansea choking again! 1-1 draw away at some random side. Still top of the group though.
Wigan lost 1-0 at Rubin Kazan. Still a lot of work for them to do, to get through.
Tottenham on at 20:05.

Fantastic from Lamela and he wins the penalty which Defoe takes superbly well.
Looks like he has got some confidence now. Good to see for all.

Think you can see from Swansea's play in the group, they've pretty much had it with this drag of a competition. Laudrup will probably want out ASAP ideally to help kickstart the second half of their season. Even if they get through, isn't it Porto after that.

Another penalty and another correct decison.
Foreign referee's are so much better than English referee's.

do you still claim the foul outside the box to award a penalty v citeh was correct?
seriously what are you banging on about. It may have been tough to judge but it was the wrong decision

Swansea playing beautiful stuff.
Routledge really coming on..
gutted he lost out on so much of his career through injury and bad management. But the lad is really coming on now.. Its never too late.
if you blacked, whited(PC) the players out you would think Swansea was Napoli.

I just like the way the commentators thought that play should go on with the keeper down.

Yeah but all commentators on ITV are horrifically bad. Baffles the mind the rubbish they come out with. Adrian Chiles presenting. Enough for one to mute the tv and put the radio on instead.
Just got in from football, but sounds like Swansea have been brilliant.

Yeah they have.
we know napoli arnt the best away. But the comfort, speed and control of Swansea is lovely to watch.
just a shame they have no cutting edge in front of goal.
boney is so good at holding the ball up, routledge has bags of tricks, but they need a proper goal scorer.

To be honest they should have won that by a goal or 3..
i cant believe a team that can play that well is only 2 pts ahead of palace and we have a game in hand.
its mind boggling.

Arguably the worst team I've seen at our place this year though, when it doesnt work they are so bad and the lack of plan B is outstanding.

Yeah you need a plan B always, that's one thing that always infuriated me about Gus Poyet. If that means stooping to the old fashioned Stoke style of play and giving the crowd neck aches in the process.

Its not even so much that, although I think every team should have that capability in their locker for the last 5 mins etc, but sometimes you need to whip in crosses and exploit the flanks, sometimes you need to make defenders think differently etc. We had ten men and they just passed in front of us all day long. I'm not a lover of Southampton by any means, but they have more variation to them and thats why they're better placed in the league (and they have money too)

Well swansea and southampton battered palace- but i think both games were under Holloway. so it will be interetsing to see what tehy can against Pulis.
To be honest I cant see Swansea scoring against us under pulis. They played well today because they played a team that felt superior and wanted to play against them.. The truth was Swansea are better on the ball than them and possibly 15 other PL teams..
It doesnt matter if you cant score though does it!

Re: Europa League 2013/14 Thread
Formula to beating Swansea is easy. You bully them. Sit back and defend narrow, then break quick if you can and look to take advantage of set pieces. We used to destroy them doing that, Holty had Ashley Williams (who is an incredibly overrated player in my eyes) on toast.

Swansea were outstanding and actually, this could be a blessing in disguise for them. Can go full out to stay in the league (which im sure they will) and they can use this as motivation, as they for large periods of the game, looked much the better side. 3-1 is very harsh.
Tottenham. Well brilliant comeback, lot of character. Adebayor what a man.

Noooo sorry, I meant the Spurs over Dnipro - the latter being a side who made little attempt to play football.
Disappointed for Swansea.

Daniel Levy lost for next step on Chelsea route to success: 1 hire AVB, 2 fire AVB, 3 appoint ex-player successor, 4 win European trophy. Oh.
I had a thought last night. What if Di Matteo pulled off the most epic trolling of Spurs? He let them finish 4th and then won the Champions League, knocking them down into the Europa, then on purpose set us up to finish 3rd in the group so we could go on to win the Europa League under Tottenham's nose?
