2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
First topic message reminder :
Four days left of the transfer window and still Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle still aren't moving quickly. The Bale deal still hasn't gone through, there is still speculation that Real Madrid may go back in for Suarez and Arsenal could break the transfer record. Tottenham have also decided to sign everybody.
Available at the moment seems to be a list of the players who were the best in the world five years ago:
Kaka
Fernando Torres
Samuel Eto'o (until yesterday)

Fair enough, we will see how he gets on in the prem. I'm just thinking about Mata, Hazard, Silva, all around the 20-30m mark that's all.Olly wrote:Definately not. Pastore is over-rated, doesnt surprise me they want rid.
"PSG's Javier Pastore wins L'Equipe's poll for most overrated player in Ligue 1 ahead of Lyon's Yoann Gourcuff".....sums it up.

Is Ozil £10m more expensive than Hazard, Mata, Silva.....of course not. Just the football financial world has been turned on it's head with this bale deal. Everyone is using bale as the barometer to compare deals. Bale should of been sold for £50m, thats the going rate for the top european players bar messi/ronaldo, just look at falcao and cavani. Ozil should be worth around £30m-£35m max. why do u think arsenal succeeded in signing him, because no one else wanted to pay that amount. Ozil is quality, pure class but he's not worth £40m+.

Middlesbrough seem hell bent on signing players who aren't good enough for Norwich with Kei Kamara, Jacob Butterfield and Dani Ayala all off there apparantly (I quite like Butterfield, but he's never recovered from his injury)

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
It's not just Bale, it's all the oligarch and oil money coming into football. Hulk, Cavani, Falcao have all gone for £40m plus in the last couple of years. Plenty more players have gone for more than £30m. Transfer fees are inflating because more teams have become billionaire's playthings.John wrote:Is Ozil £10m more expensive than Hazard, Mata, Silva.....of course not. If I was an Arsenal fan, I'd be more than happy with getting Ozil for £42.5 million, no matter what.
For me he's definately one of the Top 3 in the world at his position. Maybe even the best. I can't believe Madrid are letting him go tbh

Did anybody else realise that Anzhi resigned Samba, but have immediately sold him to a different Russian team who have signed six of Anzhi's players.

2003 - Buy Kaka for 8m from São Paulo.
2009 - Sell Kaka for 65m to Real Madrid.
2013 - Get Kaka back from Real Madrid for free

Hazard, Mata and Silva also weren't proven at the highest level, at the biggest club in the world.
(Mata and Silva also both played for a club thats effectively broke)

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
I don't know about anyone else, but the one transfer that interests me almost above all others is to see whether Arsenal manage to ditch Bendtner. From the sounds of it, they're contemplating paying another team to take him off their hands. If true would that be the first negative transfer in history? And why would they not just tell Bendtner that unless he accepts a transfer, they'll just Winston Bogarde him? As arrogant as he is, I can't imagine his professional pride would stand for that?

Im still un-sure why Ozil would want to join Arsenal. Talk about a step down from Madrid! Fair play to Arsenal though, top top signing.

Most places are a step down from Madrid. Arsenal are probably in the tier of clubs he was dropping down to.

Hmmm United are the biggest club in this country without question, so im sure he would of joined them over Arsenal. I don't think United seemed that interested.

The depressing thing is that our number one target appears to be Ba. And hes also under interest from Arsenal. So, no one coming in

So we've signed Libor Kozak from Lazio.
C'mon now Paul, we have enough forward players.
Tom Ince would have been ideal. Another good young player.

Victor Anichebe is apparently the man West Brom are looking to bring in, presumably because he's a similar player to Lukaku. I'd rather have Long. £5 million for Anichebe apparently and would lead Everton to desperately search for a striker.

Crazy how late United are leaving it, I wouldn't be surprised to see Everton pull out if they don't have time to get a replacement in.

I sincerely hope that Ed Woodwards head rolls at 11.01 tonight after being less than useless in the transfer window
Even Fellaini will be a poor bit of business as we're oviously going to end up paying more than his buyout clause at the beginning of summer
Very disappointing indeed

If we don't get both Feilaini and Herrera then we've had a shocking transfer window.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
assisting 17 league goals for ronaldo, higuain and benzema.......i'd expect him to be achieving at least that, seeing as real and barca roll over three quarters of the division, home and away by 3 or 4 goals each game. no way he will be achieving that servicing giroud and that's the difference. ozil is world class in that division, now i'd like to see him achieve it in the EPL. how many hat-tricks has ronaldo scored in the la liga compared to the EPL. shows the difference in competition.
as for united, fellaini and herrera.....not massively impressed with that to be honest. moyes isnt even being judged this year. i would of waited, give the young players time to develop that fergie left and then next year, more accessibe, quality targets would be available.

Agree. If Willian can produce what I know he can, he could rival it. Other than that, EPL has not attracted what I would say 'wow' players.FreekShow wrote:I agree. Top signing.GSC wrote:Might be going insane, but I can't believe some are downplaying the Ozil signing. Fantastic player and only 24

Problem with that John I don't actually see our current squad as a top 4 team with Moyes at the helm, the last two performances have been shocking and we can't get RVP into the game for love nor money
Next year the quality targets may be out of reach if they are approached by a declining United side

Ozil is a fantastic player but he's not quite what they needed to start challenging the top three, attacking midfield is not an area they are short in, he'll improve them but not as much as other players in different positions.

If Mesut Ozil is up for sale, You buy Mesut Ozil, He'd walk into 98% of sides in Europe. Get it done and move others along if you have to. Can never have too much quality
