2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
First topic message reminder :
Four days left of the transfer window and still Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle still aren't moving quickly. The Bale deal still hasn't gone through, there is still speculation that Real Madrid may go back in for Suarez and Arsenal could break the transfer record. Tottenham have also decided to sign everybody.
Available at the moment seems to be a list of the players who were the best in the world five years ago:
Kaka
Fernando Torres
Samuel Eto'o (until yesterday)

If Mesut Ozil isn't a wow signing you have impossibly high standards

Agree with Fernando. Thing is, spending that amount of the budget mean less gets spent on the areas that do need strenghening, the areas that at the end of the day, are the difference between success and failure. For me, Arsenal's team is easily better than Spurs, however that's all they achieved. Challenging for a title will need significant long term investment in two or three other areas, but they have the squad now to be able to attract other great player in the future. Signing Ozil is a statement signing. I just hope Wenger can go on from this and not think, 'job done, i've spent my money.....back to being tight again'.

Apparently there's truth in the Lukaku to Everton rumours according to BBC

you've mis-interpreted. I meant other than Ozil and Willian, there's not been any other 'wow' signings.John wrote:Agree. If Willian can produce what I know he can, he could rival it. Basically, that's the end of Cleverley for United & England. Thank God.
Also, wouldn't surprise me to see Newcastle erecting a stage and claiming Cabaye staying 'is like a new signing'. God, we are awful on deadline day......

If that's the case, what is Joe Kinnear being paid to do? One deal all summer would be tragic.John wrote:Crimey wrote:Somebody on 5 Live has just said that there is going to be no activity in Newcastle.

Spanish radio saying that United bid £40 million for Khedira, but it was rejected. Can't believe that at all, I'd have thought it would be Fellaini or Khedira and I think Madrid would have accepted £40 million for him.

Latest Albion news;
Sessengeon deal nearly done.
Anichebe at training ground, fee agreed.
Rumoured interest in Defoe and Quagillera-be one or the other I'd imagine.
Long to go, Hull and Everton interested.
Tamas going somewhere.
Rosenberg might also leave.

Seems we asked about Ba but he wasn't interested, wants CL football.

I'd be incredibly surprised if you signed Defoe, Quagliarella you've got no chance imo.Mat wrote:Latest Albion news;

Letting Long and bringing in Anichebe is weird

I love twitter.
A Belgian journalist has reported Lukaku close to joining Everton. National Journalist with close ties to Chelsea(apparently) reckons Lukaku fancies coming back to Albion if he is loaned out.
Long apparently wants to leave, no progress over contract talks.

Ba is totally off now, nobody is getting him.
Lukaku to go on loan instead, West Brom is his preference.

Shay Given to Liverpool is off.
Liverpool aren't going to be bringing anybody else in. Expect Borini to go, possibly Wisdom/Skrtel as well I'd have thought, but haven't heard any rumours.

Everton will be desperate to get Fellaini out of the door now, 2 and a bit hours to bring in a replacement. Barry is apparently still a possibility, as is Fernando. They haven't re-bid for McCarthy though.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
Balague said the deal will still go ahead but at like 11pm, once they've sorted the issue out. I can't believe United have offered £40m for Khedira, that is embarrassing from United. Balague said deal is a 'no-go' though. What a shocker. I gave Moyes the benefit of the doubt before but that is headgone at Old Trafford. Would not pay 10 euro for him.

I can't believe Arsenal have basically wrapped up the Ozil deal and then just stopped, they still needed a couple more players. One good signing doesn't make it a good summer in my book.

Lewis Holtby just scored past us in the U21 reserves league. He's far too good to be playing in those games. Be generous Spurs, let him come on down to Nodge
