2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
First topic message reminder :
Four days left of the transfer window and still Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle still aren't moving quickly. The Bale deal still hasn't gone through, there is still speculation that Real Madrid may go back in for Suarez and Arsenal could break the transfer record. Tottenham have also decided to sign everybody.
Available at the moment seems to be a list of the players who were the best in the world five years ago:
Kaka
Fernando Torres
Samuel Eto'o (until yesterday)

Think it's safe to say that we haven't bid for Khedira, the only firm bids we've placed have been for Fabregas, Baines, Feilaini, De Rossi and Herrera, everything else is just media spin.

Herrera's gonna be a late one, along with Fellaini as the doctor has just gone to a Manchester hospital for the medical. This delay on the Ozil deal is worrying for Arsenal. Any news?

Wenger had a heart attack when he realised he'd bid more than £10m for a player who wasn't a young french player.John wrote:Herrera's gonna be a late one, along with Fellaini as the doctor has just gone to a Manchester hospital for the medical. Ozil deal is done, reason it hasnt been announced is cos wenger is trying to sign 2 madrid players, ozil and most likely di maria or benzema but I wouldnt be surprised if we got Pepe or Contrao.John wrote:Herrera's gonna be a late one, along with Fellaini as the doctor has just gone to a Manchester hospital for the medical. The longest running transfer saga in France is over as Florian Thauvin completes his move to Marseille. They've just secured the services of the one the most exciting young talents in Europe for £12.7m.
Ozil & Di Maria will not win the league for Arsenal.

Ozil and Benzema or Di Maria won't shore up there defence, they'll score a few more but still not enough to compete with the top three.

We have just signed an Italian internation former Inter milan goal keeper who will help the defence. The Terror of Tylorstown wrote:Ozil and Benzema or Di Maria won't shore up there defence, they'll score a few more but still not enough to compete with the top three.
Also our defence is not that bad we conceded less goals than Man united, Chelsea and Tottenham last season.
Ozil and di maria I believe would be the missing link for arsenal. Imagine walcott and di maria on the wings with cazorla and Ozil in CM along with Ramsey who is on fire and Jack wilshire.

Sorry CS but you're being far too kind to Arsenal here, Ozil by himself wouldn't help overturn a 26 point gap to United or bridge the gap to an improved Chelsea. Getting a keeper in on loan to sit on the bench isn't exactly going to help the fact they have a fairly lightweight midfield with no tenacity.
The thing is United and City conceded a lot of goals in the last quarter of the season once the title race had been pretty much wrapped up while Arsenal had to play flat out til the last minute of the season, context is everything.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
herrera will sit alongside carrick. he assisted 7 goals last year i thought. bilbao had a bad year last year, he's a good player.....is he better than ozil, obviously not but at least it's better than the shocking cleverley and the pensioner giggs.
agree with the context part about defence. arsenal need constant investment, ozil is not enough. if u think di maria is quality and going to lead you to a title, think again. over-rated, selfish, inconsistant, shoots on every occassion and then rolls around on the floor for ages and dives, feigning injury the rest of the time.

I am a massive fan of Ozil and di maria, I truely believe Ozil was Madrids 2nd best player last year and if you go on any madrid forum or facebook page everyone is begging madrid not to sell ozil. The Terror of Tylorstown wrote:Sorry CS but you're being far too kind to Arsenal here, Ozil by himself wouldn't help overturn a 26 point gap to United or bridge the gap to an improved Chelsea. Di maria is amazing too contributing 17 assists and 9 goals last year for madrid.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
Those kind of stats wont be replicated in the premier league, i'm remember the whole Madrid team getting shut down by United for over 130 minutes before the Nani sending off. Ozil is brilliant but Di Maria is very hit and miss, helps quite a bit when you're providing for Ronaldo, Benzema and Higuain. Not that i've heard anywhere that Arsenal are after him.Champagne_Socialist wrote:I am a massive fan of Ozil and di maria, I truely believe Ozil was Madrids 2nd best player last year and if you go on any madrid forum or facebook page everyone is begging madrid not to sell ozil. The Terror of Tylorstown wrote:Sorry CS but you're being far too kind to Arsenal here, Ozil by himself wouldn't help overturn a 26 point gap to United or bridge the gap to an improved Chelsea. everyone playing in midfield for madrid assists double figures. there servicing ronaldo, higuian or benzema in games where madrid beat the opposition by four or five every game.

It's beyond amateurish that it is to fall through due to paperwork.
The transfer window has been open since July 1st, why on earth leave it until the last 12 hours to attempt it.
Woodward has to put his neck on the block come 11pm.

I think Niall Quinn raises a valid point - Fergie would tell Gill who he wanted and Gill would deliver. Woodward has made an arse of this.

Gill was the main man for us, what Fergie wanted he usually got, inbetween my rage at the ineptitude of Woodward is sympathy for Moyes who's had his whole plans for the season destroyed. The Special Juan wrote:I think Niall Quinn raises a valid point - Fergie would tell Gill who he wanted and Gill would deliver.
