2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
First topic message reminder :
Four days left of the transfer window and still Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle still aren't moving quickly. The Bale deal still hasn't gone through, there is still speculation that Real Madrid may go back in for Suarez and Arsenal could break the transfer record. Tottenham have also decided to sign everybody.
Available at the moment seems to be a list of the players who were the best in the world five years ago:
Kaka
Fernando Torres
Samuel Eto'o (until yesterday)

Can't believe Chelsea might let Juan Mata go, he's been easily their best player over the last two. Oscar, Hazard, De Bruyne are good but not as good as Mata.
Can't believe United are going to end up with only Fellaini, still think Everton might pull out on that one if they can't bring somebody in.
Andy Johnson has re-signed for Crystal Palace, good signing that. Former Crystal Palace hero, if he can stay fit I think he'll score lots of goals. I've always liked Johnson, think he'd have been a success has he not had the injury problems he has had.

It's Woodward's fault obviously but Moyes should of said, get me Fellaini a month ago before the clause expired. it's all about communication. its just a total **** up in the communication within the club. embarrassing time for united and Ozil looks to be confirmed at Arsenal

Yeah it's a shame but there's nothing that can be done. Someone's going to pay for this with their job and I know who...The Terror of Tylorstown wrote:Gill was the main man for us, what Fergie wanted he usually got, inbetween my rage at the ineptitude of Woodward is sympathy for Moyes who's had his whole plans for the season destroyed. The Special Juan wrote:I think Niall Quinn raises a valid point - Fergie would tell Gill who he wanted and Gill would deliver. How have Arsenal and Manchester United, two if the biggest clubs in England, made too, what look like amateur, errors in transfers?
Arsenal with the 40 million and 1 pound bid and the Manchester United with the Herrera deal.

A tweet by Gary Neville on TDD a year ago:
@GNev2: What the transfer deadline gives you is a clear indication of which are the badly run football clubs!!!
How ironic.

"It is understood the player had indicated a willingness to join the Old Trafford club and that United were willing to meet Herrera's £30.5m release clause but the deal will not now go through."
Tip: If you're willing to pay it, bid the release clause before the final day of the transfer window

Why have Sunderland signed Borini and Dossena?
Have they not seen these two play football?

Yeah, it seems that Moyes turned down the chance to sign Fellaini early in the window to focus on targets like Fabregas.John wrote:It's Woodward's fault obviously but Moyes should of said, get me Fellaini a month ago before the clause expired. it's all about communication. its just a total **** up in the communication within the club. embarrassing time for united and Ozil looks to be confirmed at Arsenal

If United don't get Fellaini done tonight, then I'd suggest three things:
1. Moyes sets up deals for January, and have them all in place by the end of this week
2. The Ghost is sacked
3. If those two things don't happen, United will struggle to make 4th place.

Nothing to do with that, with Bilbaos unwillingness to sell there wasn't enough time left to push the deal through, very little to do with tax laws but idiocy in leaving it too late.GSC wrote:United didn't understand Spanish tax laws

A title challenge may be a struggle now but people would do well to remember that any team that contains Rooney and Van Persie isn't going to find coming 3rd too tricky.

Bilbao's unwillingness to sell was irrelevant when there was a €36m/£30m buyout throughout the whole summer...The Terror of Tylorstown wrote:Nothing to do with that, with Bilbaos unwillingness to sell there wasn't enough time left to push the deal through, very little to do with tax laws but idiocy in leaving it too late.GSC wrote:United didn't understand Spanish tax laws

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
Spanish football writer Andy West: "Some bizarre reports coming out regarding United's collapsed Herrera deal. Apparently a group of men claiming to be United representatives spent an hour at the La Liga offices in Madrid today, but it turns out they had nothing to do with the club and were presumably just attempting to get a cut of the deal in an elaborate fraud.
"Must be stressed these are just rumours but the Spanish media have published pictures of men in black suits - supposedly the United "representatives" - coming out of the league offices carrying briefcases.
"All very strange and no doubt the truth will come out in the next few days."

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
Basically Arsenal need to go big next summer aswell and capitalise on the Ozil signature. Next, they need a genuine world class striker. The target will be top 4 again in my opinion and then the big step next season, it's a long term turnaround now because Wenger left it too late to bring in three quality players.
