Some of these pundits baffle me. Kevin Kilbane has now dismissed City (after initially backing them last month) from winning the title after 3 games because they've flattered to deceive so far.
The same Kevin Kilbane that lauded Man Utd last season for grinding out results and getting points when not playing well.
Yes, makes sense doesn't it.

Love Billy.
Billy Davies asked about Sako being left out by Wolves: 'Bale did not play for Spurs either'. Is there progress with him? 'No comment'.

MOTD looks like it'll be dull tonight. 6 goals (thus far) in 6 games. Not even Lineker's charming smile will be able to save the day.

The pl is very quickly becoming a brutal league.
Nowadays you get the mid table teams best players warming the top clubs benchs due to the huge squads in the modern game.
Not good for the league imo.

I personally agree it shouldn't have been a red btw but I fully understand why it was.
And that was easier to save the penalty than somehow avoid it, was like he was trying to make a shape for playing Hole in the Wall.

When it's a clear cynical tackle to stop a certain goal then it should be a red. When it's just a clumsy tackle like that a yellow and the penalty should be sufficient.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I don't think it was a red, there's something about deliberately preventing a goal scoring opportunity in the rules that people take to mean last man back.
End of the day it was 50/50, would understand if he just hacked him down on purpose but he was trying to win the ball.
Rule needs rewritten anyway, it's stupid.

The problem is that then it leaves it to the referee to make the call on if he thinks its deliberate or not rather than letting the ref fall back on just a black and white rule of last man.

Last man isn't black and white either, plenty of fouls challenging for headers etc and te issue with how wide the opponent is etc

Sunderland have a pretty tricky next 5 games including ties with Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool. How long before Di Canio comes under pressure?
I can see them seriously struggling this season.

Di Canio won't last, those are some horrifying fixtures coming up. Sunderland team just looks a mis-mash of bad quality players. Celustka, Diakite, Ji, Wickham are just not good enough and the bench is woeful. I know Newcastle didn't look great either before today but Sunderland look bad.
Di Canio also signalling it was his fault to the crowd.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Yeah I think Sunderland are the most likely outside of the promoted sides to be relegated. They've signed a lot of players, but all of them have had no or very little experience of the English game which is always a bit worrying for a team of Sunderland's level, if they don't gel or deliver they'll quickly slip into the relegation zone.
I think they'll be relying on Steven Fletcher to keep firing in goals this year and not get injured.

Vital days for 6 out of the 12 sides today:
Man City - Stopped 1 bad result turning into 2.
Cardiff - Another vital point for them.
Newcastle - Needed to score, needed to win, and got it.
Norwich - Back on the right track after last week.
Stoke - 2 wins out of 3, great start for them.
Palace - First win of the season, always a relief and a confidence-booster.

Agree with that Duty
City looked far from convincing today and if Aluko took his chance in the first half, it could of been a different story.
Chelsea looking the best so far out of the "Big 3"

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
The scoreline was only 1-0, but how on earth there were not more goals in the game down Carrow Road today I'll never know! Freek Leroy Fer missed a golden chance after about 20 mins, gutted for ya man.
As for the game it was a solid performance from us, certainly we are looking much more of an attacking threat this season. Redmond was brilliant today, great goal, but just his general play was much much better. What a talent he is.
As for Seb Bassong for me unless we bring another CB in, our season depends on him. With him in the side, we look like such a solid unit at the back. A leader. Leroy Fer was all over the park today as well. Snodgrass didn't have a great game and Elmander faceplanted which was funny.
Saints were indifferent. Lots of meaningless passes, and not a lot in the final third. Wanyama and Osvaldo were particularly poor today, Osvaldo was shocking. And for some bizarre reason Pochettino took off clearly there best player, maybe the best on the park, in Adam Lallana after 60 mins for Ramirez. Outrageously stupid move. Lallana miles ahead of any other Saints player today. Shocking management.
Anyways I hope we can translate such performances to away from home now. Nathan Redmond is a star in the making

Rooney going nowhere. Yeah, but you could say that about Ba, Torres or Eto'o not being there next year. Chelsea will buy every year, can't see Rooney going anywhere. If Rooney does not sign a new deal then Chelsea can go back in next summer.
Di Canio's days are numbered. Di Canio launching attacks on his players will do no good for team morale, he's too volatile for me and out of control. As soon as things began to go pear-shaped there, after the honeymoon period, everybody knew fireworks would erupt. The players he's bought just aren't experienced or good enough for this league.

Of course. I don't know what the rule is at the moment whether it is last man = red card or something else. If it is that then it's obviously a red but if the rule states it has to be deliberate (like handball) for a red card then it was wrong.Ent wrote:Also easy to ref that last man = yellow. The Special Juan wrote:I see where you're coming from Hero but the "last man, off" rule is pretty easy to ref.
