First topic message reminder :

OK, after the roaring success of round one, here is the roundup.

Round 1 threw up a few surprises, not least seanmichaels claiming first place and Galted close behind in second.  Not the section of the league that these two usually frequent.  It was clearly incorrect because To Kill a Mockingbird is obviously superior to Lord of the Rings but there is nowt as queer as folk and the good people of 606v2 have spoken.  They have also spoken enough to garner Niall Quinn's autobiography some votes and some points, despite the p*ss taking throughout.

Adam has made his usual solid start, taking third place which is one below where he will inevitably end up.  Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Union finished with a vote and some points.  Remarkable.

Table after round 1;

seanmichaels (Lord of the Rings): 12
Galted (To Kill a Mockingbird): 10
Adam (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory): 8
Hero (Fantastic Mr Fox): 7
Dolphin Ziggler (Hitchikers Guide to the galaxy): 6
onlytreblewinners (Strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde): 5
Azzy (Moby Dick): 5
compelling & rich (Storm of Swords): 4
The Boss (Niall Quinn's autobiography): 4
Jbeadlesbigrighthand (The Old Man and the Sea): 4
The Womble (A Kestral For A Knave): 3
Superflyweight (Trainspotting): 3
Julius (The Big Sleep): 2
Rowley (The Godfather): 2
Union (The Dogs of War): 2
TopHat (Rage): 2
ChequeredJersey (The Kindly Ones): 0
bhb (The Ragged Trousered Philantropists): 0

Question 3:  What is the best film released since the turn of the century? Culture isn't limited to old sh*t so what is the best film released since the 1st January 2000.  This should eliminate some people choosing old films that they haven't actually seen but come near the top of best film lists.  It can be re-releases if you want, animated films, porn, whatever you think deserves a mention.  Fo' shizzle.

Please PM me your answers and pick a couple of choices.  As usual, if you don't get your first pick I will let you know.

Please see the poll for round 2.  Please vote for your top 2 and remember, It is open for the whole forum to vote.

Thanks.

I'm sure you would, but as I said to Adam, it is much more work than I envisaged!

You may find it hard to believe, but I actually do hold down a real, full-time job.
Sorry Tino, I wasn't trying to wind you up, honest. I am having to fit in comments while working also and I am busy today, so couldn't read all the traffic. You're doing a great job, so whatever you want to do, I am 100% behind you.

Who's the poster who had Westlife sh@gging a dog in front of his mum - was that Rowley? That's genuine celebrity.

Yep. And superflyweight played cribbage with the drummer from ACDC or something along those lines.

Am glad someone has finally realised what a zinger that story is. Believe she even has his mobile number.

You might want to re-read that account of the story. Of course, if you're happy for that to become the official version...

Mine has never been right since we went to Egypt on honeymoon. Suspect the gamma rays form the pyramids have fried something up there.

I've seen the pictures of his partner, I'd guess not mate.

Sean am not a traveller. Buying a dog is easy, you have just got to pay good money from a reputable breeder.

Tomorrow morning.

Friday is a good day and Rd 3 will make it even better. It is a little sad, but I am genuinely excited by the next round. Ridiculous standard of films and I am struggling to narrow it down to 2. Should be a good one.

BTW - why have 71 votes been cast??

Someone miss the point and only vote once?

Need to get that extra vote for Heroes, can't bear the thought of Teenage Kicks beating it!

When in doubt, my general rule of thumb is to lean towards Ewan McGregor starring musicals

I suspect that some sneaky b'stard/master tactician voted for their own and no-one else's.

When is the next round going up? This is killing me. I suspect I'm on to another hiding, but Tino's been talking it up so much that I'm desperate to see everyone's choices.

Superfly stole/voted sooner for mine. Have had to pick a film I am nothing more than indifferent about.

Can I just clarify for sake of transparency that Jeff guessed who had taken his film choice.

Jesus, Rowley, you'll have the ethics police after me soon.

There has never been anything more certain in life, Julius.

You do make me laugh now and again but a horrific film choice, old boy.

I thought my book would do well but I was very wrong, so I am not going to even fathom a guess at how my film will do.

It's a very good film, but a horrific choice in terms of getting votes on this forum.

I woud just like to clarify this is absolutely not true.

BTW, Tina, your mum dropped you a PM to pick up milk on the way home. I might have deleted it by accident.

Only a little joke Adam. Was fairly confident that even if it was true (it isn't I will reiterate) everyone would have known I do not have the IT skills to actually do it.

That's fine. Thanks for letting me know.

Next time you're at your Ma's place, can you ask her if I can have my underpants back?
