Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
First topic message reminder :
Am thinking of going in February for 3 or 4 nights, anyone got any advice about hotels, places to visit etc? Have had a virtual drive-round on google maps and it looks like a giant suburb.

Deep-fried Minke whale, Superfly! Less sunshine hours in the month of February but, I'm sure, they're of similar poor standard so it doesn't matter. Minke whale though! And puffin!

Not sure really, it's been about 25 years and not too sure of the reason it started. Was probably an ill-fated attempt to be interesting.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:You didn't answer my question about why you don't eat mammals. Is it a nipple issue?
I would eat nipples though if you could buy them separately.

There is also larks' tongues, wrens' livers, chaffinch brains, jaguars' earlobes, dromedary pretzels and Tuscany fried bats.
I believe they are all standard pizza toppings in Reykjavik.

I haven't been, but many years ago Aston Villa played Valur Reykjavik in the European Cup and I went to the home leg. Do not remember too much about the game as it was a lot of years ago but do remember they were a very poor side if this helps.

Cheers, Rowley. Was going to say "at last! some sensible advice", then changed it to "every bit helps" but yours doesn't really fill either criteria. Might wear my Simon Grayson long-sleeved strip and wander about singing "Valur Reykjavik eru skít" to kick things off. Apparently the crime rate is low so would be a nice gesture to give them some English culture in exchange for their whale and puffin meat.

Re: Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
Iceland - a company devoted to the travel needs of LGBT guests - and has a great number of gay-friendly hotels, bars and nightclubs.
The legal status of LGBT people in Iceland is one of the best in the world and the rights of the individual are protected in the country’s constitution, with registered partnership for same-sex couples becoming legal in 1996. In the year 2008 same-sex couples could register their partnership in church or other religious congregation as well as with a civil registrar. Iceland was the ninth country in the world to allow same-sex marriage and discrimination is prohibited by Article 65 of the Constitution, which stipulates clearly that everyone is to be equal before the law and enjoy their human rights regardless of “sex, religion, opinion, national origin, race, colour, property, birth or other status”. The rights of married same-sex couples to adopt children are in all respects the same as for heterosexual married couples, should they fulfill those conditions that apply for the adoption of children. Lesbians who are married or cohabiting have the same rights to assisted fertilization as heterosexual women who are married or cohabiting.
Reykjavík city is extremely proud of its fabulous Gay Pride festivities, which have been putting a spectacular sparkle in the month of August ever since its first outing in the year 1999. A huge, merry and colourful Gay flotilla parades through the centre of town followed by grand outdoor concert attended by over one hundred thousand people – lesbians and gay men, bisexuals and transgender people, friends, relatives, fellow citizens and numerous foreign visitors – all showing solidarity with the gay cause on the second weekend of August every year!
