Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?

Am thinking of going in February for 3 or 4 nights, anyone got any advice about hotels, places to visit etc? Have had a virtual drive-round on google maps and it looks like a giant suburb.

I might have met her at the London Film Festival.  Might even have sat next to her while I watched Vi är bäst! (not sure I've mentioned it but it's a film about three 12/13-year-old Swedish girls who form a punk band despite the fact 2 of them don't know how to play an instrument and the other is a Christian classical musician.  It's set in 1982.)

Very good, took me a while to get it. In case anyone's following this thread, what Tino has done is play on the word Iceland as it's both a country with a low crime rate and chain of shops that specialises in frozen food, delivering great ideas for busy, value conscious families

Your Gore-Tex fetish will come in very handy in Iceland.

Will have to check the weather closer to the time as it might be a job for the Jack Wolfskin 3-in-1 with removable fleece (which can be worn separately) and hood. My height should come in handy as well for getting to the front of queues if they're all Björk-sized.

Why would your height help you get to the front of the queue? Surely that would just make you more noticeable in the queue if peoples eyes scanned across it.

It would be your rudeness that would get you to the front of the queue, not your height.

Unless, of course, you got to the queue first but then your height is still not really relevant to the situation.

Makes it a lot easier to brush past people if you've got a height advantage - I use it to great effect to get to the front of the cake-line at kids' birthday parties. I'll look into the prices and let you know my findings.

Beer is reasonably priced if you regard sh1tty London prices as reasonable.

Food is not tragically priced but should be as where else would you get the following?
Fermented shark
Hot smoked puffin with crowberries and seaweed crisp
Birch glazed minke whale
Wind dried fish and crunchy Icelandic seaweed
Cognac cured horse, glazed red beets and roasted parsnip puré

I don't eat mammal but might make an exception for horse and minke whale.

Thanks for the help, chaps, especially Tino, this thread's now up to 6th out of 26. Doubt it'll catch the London one but 2nd place is very possible. Hopefully some recommendations about Reykjavik happen at some stage.

Bit of an irony the 4:1 ratio, I'm actually going with one of those Weisz-type people for a change. My one and only trip to Amsterdam was also with one of them so I'm obviously not planning very cleverly.
