First topic message reminder :

Am thinking of going in February for 3 or 4 nights, anyone got any advice about hotels, places to visit etc? Have had a virtual drive-round on google maps and it looks like a giant suburb.

This is a serious thread, Gia. If you feel the need to "road-test" punctuation I'd suggest one of Tino's "culture" threads might be more appropriate.

I don't get these social media crazes. # in particular winds me up. Can't people see how embarrassing it is? It is like finishing sentences with .com . What's all that about?

Tina used hashtag the other week. Just thought I would mention it, some of us don't forget Tina.

You're really touchy today, Tino. Surely punctuation is more relevant to culture than to Reykjavik‽

Perhaps he should road test punctuation on Olly's Berlin thread? I fear the 16 hits in 15 months may have been rather an underwhelming response to his public adoration of the city.

Someone at the weekend said 'We are hopefully moving in by Christmas but have left it a bit Lastminute.com'. There should be spot fines for using such language.

One of my colleagues thinks that it's hilarious to end most sentences with "compare the meerkat.com". If I was the Christmas card sending type he wouldn't be getting one.

Maybe she's a bit confused by the language, I often get them saying "you go away or I call police" when they're trying to say "I like the way you look at me with that sexy half-smile".

A close friend of mine used the term "brekky" to describe "breakfast" the other day. I made straight for Portobello beach and spent hours just looking at the waves.

Breakfast is a big deal in Scotland, jeff. It's often the only cooked meal we manage what with all the heroic alcohol abuse and throwing bottles at Tina.

Still no responses from anyone that has been to Reykjavik.

The sexual tension on the weightlifting board is too much for me. They are all grooming each other at the same time but none of them actually realise.

I once made the mistake of trying to moderate on the tennis boards the day Nadal got knocked out of Wimbledon. Suffice to say that is not a mistake I will repeat in a hurry.
