Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?

First topic message reminder :

Am thinking of going in February for 3 or 4 nights, anyone got any advice about hotels, places to visit etc? Have had a virtual drive-round on google maps and it looks like a giant suburb.

I carry a USB stick with me. Sometimes have to print some emergency material for a class I've not prepared very well for.

My man bag is mustard with brown tubing and shoulder strap.

Is it just me that doesn't have a man-bag then? I occasionally carry a Tesco 'bag for life' if I can find one at home but I usually carry my lunch in a plastic bag.

Some vital Galted-based information and The Time I Was Walking From London Bridge To The BFI Along The South Bank And The Lace Of My Right Hi-Tec Came Undone Because I Hadn't Tied It In A Double-Knot But My Back Was Sore So I Couldn't Bend Down To Do It Up And Had To Get My Mate's Mum To Do It And He Said "While You're Down There, Mum" and 1416 other fairly lengthy stories.

Sorry Tina but thought in the interests of full disclosure I had to mention it. Is difficult. Am nowhere near tragic enough to carry a briefcase and am not going to use a bleeding rucksack am I?

Under these circumstances a man bag has to be the choice.

I've got a Diesal man-bag. Love it, had it 3-4 years now and it's a superb asset - like a tool/utility but with great load capacity.

Jumpers, water bottles, keys, cameras, handwipes, tickets, all manner of things that are too bulky to be carried in pockets comfortably make it in there. Pretty sure at least 1 of my USB sticks will be in there also.

I find a rucksack pretty handy when I need to use the Underground. All you need is a few stray wires sticking out and you get a whole carriage to yourself, especially if you haven't shaved for a while.

Give him a chance, Tino, by "man-bag" he might mean a bag made out of man. The 667killer's from Yorkshire and I'm sure he's got quite a few.

I used to prefer you to superfly but that has changed round completely. No way does he have a m*n-bag. No way.

For the record, I had a ham sandwich on brown bread but I did add some ready salted crisps to it for a bit of texture. I also had another Taxi biscuit as we seem to have a proliferation of them at home.

Nope, just anywhere I'm sceptical about loo/loo roll quality. Carried one all over Asia for example. Also always have one for Glastonbury.

I prefer to use a rucksack. Mine is an Ace 30 which is both practical and stylish albeit not particularly waterproof.  I keep the following things in it: the 3rd USB key (the one I rarely use), 2 spectacle cases, recent bank statements, spare headphones, sweater, camera, camera instructions, plasters, toilet roll, book I'm currently reading, books I've finished but which I never remember to remove, Tintin button my friend's daughter gave me a couple of years back which I keep as a good luck charm even though I pri*k my finger on the f*cking thing every time I stick my hand in, spare socks if I'm wearing my older Hi-Tecs with holes in and anything I've nicked from work on that particular day.

When I ran a preview "pri*k my finger" came out as "Tinkywinky my finger".

Although that is a fairly ridiculous list of items, I prefer the fact you just go the whole hog and wear a full-on rucksack rather than a m*n-bag.

At least you're not pretending to be something you're not.

Once a week I buy 2 potatoes and a baby spinach, rocket and watercress salad from M&S which go in the rucksack.  This makes it bulge quite severely.  I often forget that my camera is in the bag and drop it from various heights.  This might be the reason my photos are always out of focus.
