Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
First topic message reminder :
Am thinking of going in February for 3 or 4 nights, anyone got any advice about hotels, places to visit etc? Have had a virtual drive-round on google maps and it looks like a giant suburb.

Green tea doesn't require a certain amount of skill, the bag should only be left in the cup for a minute or two (depending if it's Chinese or Japanese tea) and then discarded otherwise the taste can be quite bitter. I take it with a sweetener. Milk in tea is just wrong. The Womble wrote:Mrs Womble once gave me a green tea. I nearly threw up. Tasted like cat wee. Never ever again. Mrs Womble was taught to leave the tea bag in for ages. She doesn't put milk in it. That is wrong. You must like milk in normal tea? Don't tell us you drink black tea as well? I had that once, vile!Galted wrote:Green tea doesn't require a certain amount of skill, the bag should only be left in the cup for a minute or two (depending if it's Chinese or Japanese tea) and then discarded otherwise the taste can be quite bitter. I like Yorkshire tea left to brew for a while, zero sugar and a tad of full fat milk. Should be a brown / gold colour and piping hot.

Thanks, michaels, but a few snotty comments aren't going to put me off my work rehabilitating these northern types. The joy on their little faces when they've learned how to catch a bus, or not get fleeced by the magic bean sellers, or poo sitting down, or order an expensive bottle of imported lager, or construct an entire sentence in English makes it all worth it.

Tina is not Northern. He openly admitted he had been to the theatre the other day. The only time a real northern would ever go to the theatre is to see the snooker at the Crucible.

I've had my doubts about him as well: the way he surrenders his computer to his kids at half-term instead of thrashing them with one of the smaller kids, his fascination with arthropods instead of whippets and livestock and his preference for sandwiches over spleen-and-ale pies.

Galted, at least I am trying to move away from any northern stereotypes you might carry around which is more than can be said for you. You are doing your level best to reinforce the image I have of southerners being big blouses. You drink peppermint tea for Christs sake. And worse than that, you wear waterproof clothing to protect you from the rain. That is what your skin is for. I don't even get my coat out until the temperature starts with a minus.

Re: Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
Was going to reply last night but decided to check this morning to remove any doubt. I drink it from a polystyrene cup, holding the cup with my thumb and index, middle and ring fingers in the following positions: thumb, halfway down/up the cup on the side nearest to me, index finger 4/5 of the way up the cup on the side opposite to me, middle finger 1/4 of the way up the cup on the side opposite to me, ring finger at the bottom of the cup on the side opposite to me providing stability. This leaves no space for my little finger which, while not in contact, certainly does not stick out, instead bending towards the palm so that, looking down at the cup, it is visible on the side nearest to me.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:I'm almost certain his little finger is sticking out when he drinks his peppermint tea.
I can deduce from your comment that you drink your tea from a cup or a mug which automatically causes erectness of the little finger due to a lack of space on the handle .

With regards to the waterproof clothing, it's not so much to keep me dry as to keep my wallet, iPod, coins, passport, USB stick and theatre, gallery and museum tickets dry.

Partly because I'm less likely to lose it if it's attached to me, partly as a seduction tool for East European husband hunters. Hasn't really worked as a seduction tool though, a bit like my technique of pretending to care about what the target gash is rabbiting on about in the hope it makes me seem worldy and thoughtful.
