Starting with a power run game this week but still maintaining an up tempo style. Marcell Dareus is not a true 3-4 NT and we're going to run it right down his throat. The ILB's are poor and will struggle to stop us. BJGE can keep the chains moving with 5-8 yard runs. Keep the defense honest then when they have an extra man in the box and use play action to either of our big outside receivers who can make plays. Julio Jones will matchup well with Shareece Wright as I expect Verner to shadow Green. Gio Bernard will still be use, particularly on third down, to compliment the thunder of BJGE with his lightning quick feet.
Geno Atkins and Kyle Williams bring a strong pass rush through the middle against the weakest area of the Chargers line. I expect the Chargers to start out with a passing attack which gives Atkins and Williams the opportunity to make Rivers uncomfortable. Carlos Dunlap matches up well against the poor pass blocking of Fluker. Secondary is in nickel and Leon Hall will go man-to-man against Austin and take him out of the game, leaving Sean Lee and Vontaze Burfict free to roam the middle of the field to take out screens/draws and the run game. Steve Smith and Andre Johnson are technicians so the we're going to play physical at the LOS and make their life difficult. No speed on the outside to threaten deep so the Safety's will play aggressive.

Offence
The Bengals base formation is going to be with 5 DB's, so we are going to start off by running the ball hard with Mathews. He will run especially hard behind LT Dunlap, who whilst being slightly weak against the pass rush is a great run blocker. This will force the Bengals to commit more men to the box and also try to minimise Atkins's impact. Once we have developed the run game, we will utilise some play action stuff and take some deep shots to especially Johnson, but also Steve Smith occasionally although he will mainly be targeted on intermediate receptions. Gates will look for mismatches from the TE position, whilst we will move Austin around a lot and try to get him the ball in space to cause some mayhem. Woodhead to play more as the game goes on and to be used out of the backfield.
Defence
Verner will double team AJ Green with Weddle. We will then bring Mathieu regularly up into the box to mark Bernard out of the backfield and slot, as we know how dangerous he is. We will utilise 5 DB's in these cases. It is expected that the DL of Watt, Dareus and Liuget will be able to cause some damage without the need to blitz too regularly. Freeney will often be the 4th rusher and it is with these 4 that we expect to still have a lot of success and not need to bring anyone else too often. This allows us to drop more men into coverage and stop the variety of the other weapons that the Bengals have (Eifert etc.).

Pretty obvious what our offensive gameplan is today, we are just going to throw the ball up the field all day long. Fitzgerald looks to take on Flowers deep, Wayne can move the chains with Edelman working the slot. Gronkowski up the seam the main weapon, you can just overpower Berry. Look to use Vereen in the screen game and on wheel routes, with the occasional draw up the gut with our new improved offensive line being able to dominate
On defence we're gonna man up. Peterson on Gordon as he has the speed to keep with him, Talib on Bowe as he can deal with the big body player and Ryan on Avery. We don't think Fasano can hurt us, so Collins can take him leaving the strong safety to play in the box stuffing the run. McCourty play one deep safety. Mayo you're on Charles, and the front four get after Big Ben, but make sure to contain him in the pocket.

Week 4 line up & tactics
Overall tactics
Time of possesion could be key in this match up
The Pats will probably be pass happy given there line up using less time on there drives
so we will attempt to keep the clock running with long time consuming drives , not going out of bounds etc
In an attempt to tire the Pats D
Offense
QB -- Ben Roethlisburger
RB 25 Jamaal Charles
WR -- Josh Gordon - 82 Dwayne Bowe - 17 Donnie Avery
TE 80 Anthony Fasano
74 Geoff Schwartz G/T - 71 Jeff Allen G/T - 61 Rodney Hudson C/G - 73 Jon Asamoah G - 72 Eric Fisher T
Tactics
A fairly evenly balanced offense this week 50/50 pass - run split
WR's Gordon & Bowe on the outside with Avery in the slot we aim to spread the ball around all receivers including RB Charles & TE Cameron
Mainly quick short passes to take advantage of the fact the Patriots have gone with a 4-2-5 Defense with only the occasional longer pass out wide
Screens to Jaamal Charles attempting to get him outside the Pats front 4 after which there should be gaping holes with only 2 LB's ,also because of this TE Jordan Cameron will be heavily involved in the passing game
the two outside WR's will alternate running long routes , mainly as decoys to take at least one or two DB's away from being able to help out the 2 LB's
RB Charles should still be able to make decent yardage and could break off a couple of big runs if he manages to get past the line of scrimmage
Defense 3-4
Defensive linemen
94 Tyson Jackson DE - 92 Dontari Poe NT - 70 Mike DeVito DE
Linebackers
50 Justin Houston OLB - -- Lawrence Timmons - 55 Akeem Jordan ILB - 91 Tamba Hali OLB
Defensive backs
24 Brandon Flowers CB - 27 Sean Smith CB - 29 Eric Berry SS - 23 Kendrick Lewis FS
Tactics
The main aim will obviously be on defending the passing game of the Pats
The Pats have Vereen at RB it possibly means they are going all out pass as he is more of a receiving RB
The D line and OLB's will attempt to pressure Brady whilst stopping the limited run game of the Pats and covering Vereen
The two ILB's will have to cover Gronk with FS help if he does make receptions
In the back field Flowers has to cover Fitz - Smith has Wayne & Berry covers Edelman

49ers @ Packers
- 49ers:
- QB - Colin Kaepernick
RB - Frank Gore
WR - Brandon Marshall, Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin
TE - Vernon Davis
OT - Joe Staley, Anthony Davis
OG - Mike Iupati, Alex Boone
C - Daniel Kilgore
DL - Gerald McCoy, Justin Smith, Ray McDonald

ILB - Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman
S - Eric Reid, Donte Whitner
CB - Tarell Brown, Trumaine Brock
K - Phil Dawson
P - Andy Lee
PR/KR - Lamichael James
On offence look to throw all day against a weak Packers defence, Davis in particular should have a field day.
On defence lets just get after Rodgers, look to hurt him early in the game, really affect him going after a weak offensive line.
- Packers:
- Offence
QB - Aaron Rodgers
WR - Calvin Johnson, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb
RB - Eddie Lacy
TE - Jermichael Finley
LT - Tyron Smith
LG - Josh Sitton
C - Evan Dietrich-Smith
RG - T.J Lang
RT - David Bakhitari
Defence
DL - B.J Raji, Haloti Ngata, Ryan Pickett
ILB - A.J Hawk, Kiko Alonso
OLB - Clay Matthews, Mike Neal
Cornerbacks - Sam Shields, Casey Hayward
SS - T.J Ward
FS - Morgan Burnett
Special Teams
K - Mason Crosby
P - Tim Masthay
PR/KR - Randall Cobb
S - Brett Goode
Ace formation.
Once again we will look to expose the weak cornerbacks of our opponents
Look to mix up our attacks with Rodgers and Lacy both great options (80-20 split)
Use Lacy throughout as a power runner to keep them honest and if the defence ever drops too deep then look to run
Early doors look to get chains moving with quick passes and screens negating pass rush early
Once this is established look to get Tron and Nelson running deeper routes and get points on the board
Cobb and Finley in slot positions
Megatron and Nelson wide
Be agressive in attempting to stop the running game of Niners
Hayward covers Marshall, Shields on Crabtree
Put pressure on Kap especially with Matthews who tends to struggle in regular season
Pressure through centre at Kilgore
Attempt any field goal closer than 45.
Saints @ Panthers
- Saints:
- New Orleans Saints
QB - Drew Brees
RB - Pierre Thomas
WR - Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston, Kenny Stills,
TE - Jimmy Graham
OT - Trent Williams, Zach Strief
OG - Ben Grubbs, Jahri Evans
C - Brian De La Puente
DL - Calais Campbell, Broderick Bunckley, Akeem Hicks
OLB - Cameron Wake, Junior Galette
ILB - Curtis Lofton, David Hawthorne
S - Roman Harper, Kenny Vaccaro
CB - Darrelle Revis, Keenan Lewis
K - Shayne Graham
P - Thomas Morstead
PR/KR - Darren Sproles.
Offence - Screen game early and often to slow down their pass rush, let them overpursue, Brees to use his experience to allow the screen to develop before throwing the ball out. Use quick passes into the slot, bunch formation out wide to prevent them from keying in on Graham with double coverage, let him get into some space. VJax has a 7 inch height advantage on Munnerlyn, challenge with the high ball if 1on1
Use run game to set up pass, outside runs, the occasional slam up the middle to keep Kuechly and Davis unsure as to where they should be covering. Primarily focus the passing game outside the hashes, means the LBs can't be too much of a factor, lets us target their weak secondary. If Graham is 1 on 1 with a safety we take that match up every day of the week. Protecting Brees will be important, trust the 2 OTs with the DEs, interior line is focused on stopping Star and Short.
Defence - Revis on Allen, Lewis on Patterson, but both will look to be active in run support. 8 in the box, Harper is our best run stopping safety, he/Vaccaro will rotate in box, focus on stopping AP and Newton running, Wake is responsible for covering Newton, hit him early/often
Their OL is weak, with Kalil out we will be blitzing the LBs regularly to smash the interior of the line and get Newton running towards Wake. Challenge Newton to beat uswith his arm, other safety to cover Olsen. D Line to contain AP on his runs, don't let him get outside easily, trust LBs to come up and make the tackle

Special Teams

LS 44 J. J. Jansen
P 8 Brad Nortman
KR 84 Cordarrelle Patterson
PR 19 Ted Ginn, Jr.
Offence
We will start with a 50/50 run & pass game then look to move to a shorter passing game behind their DL and plenty of screen passing plays. Hopefully this will open up space both for Peterson to rush. Don't be afraid to let Newton look down field/ go long for Allen and Patterson especially on 3rd downs.
Defence
Again with the Saints having little in their rushing game, we will try to get as much pressure on Brees earlier with the likes of Edwards and Hardy wide and Lotulelei and Kuechley through the middle. We will play a physical game against Jimmy Graham, possibly dropping back Chase Blackburn to double up on Graham with Mikell.
Seahawks @ Eagles
- Seahawks:
- Offence
QB - Russel Wilson
WR - Dez Bryant, Percy Harvin
RB - Marshawn Lynch / Matt Forte
FB - Michael Robinson
TE - Jason Witten / Zach Miller
LT - Russell Okung
LG - James Carpenter
C - Max Unger
RG - JR Sweeney
RT - Breno Giacomini
Offense Tactics -Aiming for a balanced offense this weeK. Lots of variety, different setups. Start with a run heavy set but look to exploit Dez and Percy as they load up the box. Get Witten involved deep if poss. Use Forte in screens and play action. Plenty of beastmode with Robinson leading once a lead is established.
Defence
LDE - Red Bryant/Michael Bennett
LDT - Tony McDaniel
RDT - Brandon Mebane
RDE - Chris Clemons/Cliff Avril
LOLB - Bruce Irvin
MLB - Bobby Wagner/KJ Wright
ROLB - Malcolm Smith
CB - Brandon Browner
CB - Byron Maxwell
SS - Kam Chancellor
FS - Earl Thomas
DDEFENSE TACTICS - plan is to eliminate the short game, keeping Foles in the pocket throwing deep as the pass rush comes. Keep McCoy under wraps, lots of bodies in and around the line of scrimmage. Happy that the secondary will limit the WR threat enough for the DL to do its damage.
Special Teams
K - Shaun Hausckha
H & P - Jon Ryan
PR - Percy Harvin
KR - Percy Harvin
LS - Zach Millar
- Eagles:
- Philadelphia Eagles
QB - Nick Foles
RB - LeSean McCoy
WR - Antonio Brown, DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin
TE - Zach Ertz
OT - Jason Peters, Lane Johnson
OG - Todd Herremans, Matt Tobin
C - Travis Kelce
DL - Trent Cole, Chris Jones, Nick Fairley, Jurrell Casey, Robert Quinn (left end to right end, same for below)
LB - Mychal Kendricks, Lavonte David
CB - Brent Grimes, Cary Williams
S - Harrison Smith, Nate Allen
(Brandon Boykin in slot for 3 receiver sets, Chris Jones out)
K - Alex Henery
P - Donnie Jones
PR/KR - DeSean Jackson
Offence
With Mathis back there'll be more focus on running the ball with McCoy and the other backs, however we will try to take advantage of Sherman being out (when possible) by going after their other cbs. The Seahawks are excellent at reacting to screens and passes over the middle, so the aim is trying to get Foles to throw quick passes to the outside, with the occasional deep ball to keep them honest and use Brown and Jackson's pace.
Defence
Like before against the Niners, 5 defensive lineman will be used, including Trent Cole as a linebacking DE. On 3 wr sets Chris Jones will come out for Brandon Boykin for a conventional nickel set. Grimes will stick on Bryant with Williams on Harvin, but Smith will give support based on who seems to be struggling. Kendricks will cover the TE, due to his athleticism. David will focus on Lynch/Forte and hopefully be the tackling machine he normally is. The 5 d-lineman should be able to create inside pressure whilst making sure Wilson can't do too much damage on the ground. The three DTs will push inside and Quinn and Cole will go after Wilson. By lining up up a fullback it suggest a heavy run attack hence the 5 d-linemen, but the play-action has to be accounted for, which is why Allen will stay deep. Harrison Smith has a roaming role, supporting whichever cb needs help.
Special Teams
Don't be silly against an excellent special teams unit.

Emm, I just realised that I have Mathis in my team. He's actually now a Patriot so that was meant to be Matt Tobin. I copied the wrong team before. Apologies.

Re: Gameweek 4
Bengals 17 v 23 Chargers
The Bengals gameplan expects a passing game from the Chargers but they go for a run-game with Matthews running behind the big left tackle. If they get their run-game going which they should do against the nickel defence then it could force the Bengals to bring extra players into the box giving the receivers more room to work. Hall is a very quick corner but I wonder if he'll be able to contain Austin by himself. I also believe the Bengals will find it harder to run on this team than they expect. Watt and Dareus won't be the easiest to run on at all. Chargers win this one, running behind King Dunlap. Mathieu should match up well against Bernard, although Green and Jones might be tough for the secondary to handle.
Colts beat Broncos
Patriots 30 v 20 Chiefs
The Patriots improved O-line should give Brady time to find any of of the wealth of options he now has at his disposal. I'm not sure if the Chiefs defence is quite able to match up with them to be honest. Wayne should prove too much for Smith and Edelman should be able to have some success against the safety. The occasional draw to keep them honest should also provide decent yards. Peterson and Talib should be able to cover Gordon and Bowe, maybe with a bit of help for Gordon. Charles will see a lot of the ball and this will slow Brady down somewhat, but I can't see it being enough especially once the Pats get ahead.
49ers 21 v 27 Packers
The 49ers front seven is usually able to mask what is a poor secondary but not this time. Megatron gives Rodgers something he didn't have when playing against the niners in the past, a big receiver on the outside. They need a safety to help cover him leaving either Nelson or Cobb or both in one on one coverage which Rodgers should be able to take advantage of. I feel the niners gameplan is quite limited, not really saying how they plan on stopping a great receiving corps. Alonso give the Packers a bit more athleticism in the linebackers which should slow down Davis. Tight game decided by Megatron magic.
Saints 24 v 21 Panthers
I like the Saints plan of taking advantage of the Panthers secondary. Jackson, Colston and Stills would probably be too much for them without including Jimmy Graham. Having said that I do like the plan of having Blackburn help the safety covering Graham. That may leave them vulnerable outside however. Revis taking Allen should mean that Lewis will get help taking Patterson if need be. It also lets the focus be on stopping Newton and Peterson. The run game of the Panthers is effective but they don't get enough joy to beat Brees' Saints.

Bengals run game gets early lead, Chargers respond but the returning Jones wins it late.
Patriots 21 @ Chiefs 24
Real close one, Brady having a rough day but keeping the Pats close until Succop kicks a game winning FG at the death.
49ers 28 @ 18 Packers
Big away win, Packers getting outfought but aggressive 9ers.
Saints 27 @ 28 Panthers
Panthers D winning this one with 2 pick 6s in 2nd half to turn the match after VJax goes big early on.
Moot's
======================================================
Bengals 23 - 21 Chargers
Bengals gameplan is good in theory, but the Chargers DL will be very tough to run against even with Dareus not being a true nose, as all 3 collapse the pocket and Teo is a very good run stuffer. BJGE can't get 8 yards unless its off 3 straight runs! However, Chargers will struggle to cover Green and Jones, and the Bengals will have success there
Chargers are set up to run and Bengals are playing the pass. With Chargers running at Gilberry behind Dunlap, I think they will do very well there at the beginning of the game. I think Chargers receivers will also have success, I don't rate Kirkpatrick and think either of Smith/Johnson will have a field day there without safety help.
Tough one to call, but think the Bengals just have enough to sneak one here
Patriots 23 - 27 Chiefs
I reckon the Chiefs DBs match up well to the Pats offence, 2 very good CBs and the safety and LBs to contain Gronk. They are expecting the passing game, and are well set up to contain it, especially given the strength of their pass rush. However the Pats O Line does look strong, and I don't think either side will have the upper hand by much.
Pats game plan is good defensively, but they are taking a risk leaving Gordon 1 on 1 with Peterson, as he has the tendency to get beaten and with no safety help that is a definite TD. Charles is also likely to have success, given the lack of LBs on the field. Big Ben is a big factor, as he will give Gordon and co the chance to get open,
Pats are better on paper, but given the game plan and the respective strengths of the teams, I'm giving this to the Chiefs at home
49ers 27 - 20 Packers
49ers are weak in the secondary, but their front 7 will do some real damage. Front 4 can get after Rodgers, and their LBs will be a real factor in stopping the passing game, although they have no real answer for Megatron. Using the screen just won't work against SF, as Bowman and Reid are outstanding at getting to the ball carrier from almost any position
Kaep and co torch the Packers D on a regular basis, so I see no reason why this would change, as the Packers still look weak in key positions.
This comes down to whether I think Megatron can make one more play than Kaep and co, and I don't think Rodgers will have the time, especially given the pressure that McCoy adds. 49ers win
Seahawks 20 - 24 Eagles
Seahawks plan is likely to be negated by the 5 DL line up of the Eagles, will make it very tough to run on them especially with David around. In the passing game, Williams vs Harvin is just a mismatch, can see Harvin doing real damage, and Smith's support will definitely be needed. I like the Eagles gameplan, will limit the effectiveness of the Seahawks
Eagles are pretty much using their standard game plan, and without Sherman I think they can target the secondary, especially given Jackson's speed to force the safeties to respect the deep game. McCoy will do well, even against the Seahawks strong DL given his running ability
Overall, with the strong tactics and not much in between them elsewhere, I give this to Eagles

Also in a open game I would take Rodgers over Kap every time
Saints 23 @ 27 Panthers

Like the other games this will be another close one

Seahawks 24 @ 27 Eagles
Every game has been close this week

Bengals 23@30 Chargers
It's no secret I'm a fan of the Bengals and I think the running attack is a good game-plan giving the defensive tactics of the Chargers to drop deeper but I'm not sure it suits their players and with Watt and Dareus its still an intimidating line. They do have the ability to win with their passing but Chargers slightly slow this down. Similarly Chargers have a very strong game plan and I think they experience a lot of early success with the run and secure the win through the air.
Pats 24@20 Chiefs
Scary offence. Not only the weapons for Brady but the O-Line which gives Brady time to pick his targets. Charles needs to have a huge day for Chiefs, but he only has a big one. 160 yardish but receivers can't do enough despite more overall time of possesion.
Saints 22@17 Panthers
The Saints O-line is one of the strongest but their receiving corps isn't as strong. Think if the Panthers front seven can get to the Saints they will slow their offence down. I don't think the panthers can get their offence going enough to overcome this despite some early success
Seattle 25@16 Eagles
Eagles defensively are set up well to counter Seattle. Can't see them getting a huge amount offensively. Eagles aren't so strong without Mathis and they just can't stop the Seattle defence.
CJB's
=======================================================================
Patriots 31 - 21 Chiefs
Pats passing game is just too much for the Chiefs here. They have so many options that they always going to be making big plays and moving the chains. The Chiefs just can't shut down everyone. This is whilst the Pats can shut down the two Chiefs WRs well with Talib and Peterson and despite Charles making some big plays they just can't keep pace with the Pats high powered offence.
Packers 24 - 21 49ers
Despite the front 7 of the 49ers shutting down Lacy and getting some pressure on Rodgers, I think the weak secondary of the niners is just too much to overcome with Megatron and Nelson making some big gains. The GB defence can then make just enough plays to keep themself with a narrow lead and sneak over the line in a close game.
Saints 27 - 17 Panthers
Again, think the Saints have enough home run hitters in their line up to make some big plays against the Panthers secondary. Whilst getting physical against Graham is a good ploy, he will still have an impact even if it is only drawing protection away from Jackson who will have a big day. The Panthers rushing attack will have some success but Patterson and Allen will shut down effectively enough for the Saints to get over the line.
Seahawks 17 - 14 Eagles
Low scorer, but tight game here. The Seahawks defence, even without Sherman is still mean against the pass as it's still good secondary combined with the pass rush will put Foles under some serious pressure and even McCoy can be contained somewhat. Having said that, think Quinn has a big game getting after Wilson but I feel that the Seahawks D will make one more bigger play and take one to the house off Foles to secure the win.

================================================================
Bengals 20-17 Chargers
A run heavy game and it'll be relatively low scoring because of it. Lots of good thought into the tactics on each side. Chargers could look at a better ILB or two because it's the only weak spot (aside from maybe 2nd corner) of what could be a dominant defense. Anyway, I can see an even game until the latter stages when the Bengals superior passing game can win it.
Pats 35-21 Chiefs
Pats play to their strengths with a passing game that will be an interesting proposition. Will the defense be able to stop it even when it knows it's coming? Defensively I think the ILBs will have a tough time covering Gronkowski on size alone let alone athleticism. If they throw his way he'll be open even when he's covered so the chains will keep moving. The rest of the game plan is sound, but if they had an extra bit of pass rush from their DEs they could make Brady uncomfortable. The Pats defense matches up well against what the Chiefs have. I don't see Mayo being able to completely contain Charles, and if a screen game gets going he could be cleaned out while Charles busts a big gain. Gordon/Peterson will be a great fight, but I can see the extra physicality of Gordon just edging it. Talib will probably take Bowe out of the game and to be honest I'd have put him on Gordon. Pats take the lead and keep scoring, Chiefs try but can't keep up.
49ers 20-30 Packers
Looks like Gregg Williams is the 9ers defensive co-ordinator.
I can't in good faith give a win to the 49ers, who have a strong line-up, because the Packers have a better game plan. If they get to grips with Smith rushing Rodgers then they have receivers capable of battering the 9ers CBs.
Saints 23-17 Panthers
Good plan from the Saints. Panthers strengths are up front and if Brees can snap and get it away then they'll be less effective. It'd be a bigger win if the Saints had truly elite receivers. Panthers have a great run game to eat the clock but this isn't that sort of game and the Saints aren't interested in a slugfest. Any time you have AP and Newton on the field you have big play threats but they can be slowed and I think the Saints secondary will be too good on the day for the Panthers receivers.
Seahawks 10-13 Eagles
Tough football match to call. Lynch is a powerhouse but running up the gut is probably what the Eagles want. Casey and Fairley are beasts and David can roam behind to sweep up a slowed Lynch. Bryant and Harvin are tough assignments outside but the Eagles have good cover corners too. Equally the Eagles WRs are going to have a tough time against some physical defense, and the pass rush may eventually make it to Foles - but it is a strong O-line...
I've talked myself into it. The narrowest Eagles win in a fascinating affair. Seattle at home would have won this. And with Sherman they probably would have too.

49ers can't handle Packers WR's and despite getting to Rodgers a lot, can't slow them down enough to win
Saints 28-21 Panthers
A good win for New Orleans who have gameplanned well, think they need better WR's to be serious contenders though. Would like to see Carolina run a lot of read option
Seahawks 21-21 Eagles

Bengals 23-17 Chargers
Close one this, Bengals I think have the superior talent to edge it, good gameplans from both
49ers 17-23 Packers
49ers can't handle Packers WR's and despite getting to Rodgers a lot, can't slow them down enough to win
Saints 28-21 Panthers
A good win for New Orleans who have gameplanned well, think they need better WR's to be serious contenders though. Would like to see Carolina run a lot of read option
Seahawks 21-21 Eagles
I genuinely cannot call this game
