Think that's what we have to remember Hulking, we've gone from 7th and people saying the days of us playing Champions League football were over for a number of years, to being in the title race, back ion Europe and with a great chance to strengthen the squad.

Good weekend all in all. The Chelsea win (at 4/1) means I made a profit, despite a few dodgy bets.

Mourinho parked the bus in Madrid.

Didn't see the point in booking Cole for time wasting in the 92nd minute, if you're going to give the yellow card for time wasting to do it a lot earlier so it stops. Not wait until the end of the game.

It is a huge choke. Second highest scorers in the league can't break down a defense.

Benson, to everyone on the continent there is a huge gulf in class between Scholes and the other two, it's only the english fans who favour the blood and guts technically inferior approach that think otherwise.
As for England, our best performances came with Scholes in the middle, the 5-0 in Munich, the 1-0 against Argentina, the 3-0 against Denmark, we started to go downhill once he was shifted wide.

Sick of people saying this is good organisation and good defensive football. There is a huge difference between that and sticking the entire team behind the ball. Mourinho won't last long at Chelsea, Abramovich will get sick of tactics eventually, he doesn't want a team that wins everything, he wants a team that plays good football AND wins everything, Mourinho doesn't know how to do it, he's scared to expand beyond the basics.
They were time-wasting in the first 90 seconds, that is beyond ridiculous. It's a bit sad that Mourinho felt the need to do it, he's got a team full of fantastic, expensive players and he has them playing the football of useless lumps.
Fair enough he got the result, but it's a terrible advert for football.

For all the abuse Mourinho gets, and the fact he has been a tool this season.
Fair play today, tactics spot on. Liverpool haven't had a sniff

Hardly good tactics, he just put everybody behind the ball. Without the Gerrard slip, they would have got nothing.

Boom. Chelsea have done the double over Liverpool & City this season. Impressive stuff.
I'm pleased. This makes the last few weeks very intriguing. Three teams still very much in it until the end.

Odds on Chelsea to win the league? Worth a cheeky bet.
Lampard (yes Lampard) and Mikel were solid. Chelsea has the best defense in the league, I suppose.

Oh, and another performance which proves Suarez is not as good as possible bang on about. I don't think he had a good touch all day, and once again bottles it against a top side.
Huge test for him next season when back in the Champions League.

We couldn't break through a 10 man defence against the team with the best defence in the league.CFCNick wrote:Hulking_up wrote:Wasn't a choke. Just can't find our way through a wall.Olly wrote:The most epic of chokes.

How can you not call that good tactics???!
He's just stopped the most free scoring team in the league scoring with a defence of a 41 year old keeper and Kalas.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
For me, there is a huge difference between setting up a team well and organised and defensive and literally playing with eleven men behind the ball. One is a sign of a well organised team and good tactics from a manager, the other is the sign of desperation and a lack of imagination.
Mourinho will be gone with two years from Chelsea, with the money Chelsea have and the attacking players they have, there is no reason they should be playing football like that. It's all well and good that it gets results, but we saw from Mourinho's first spell in charge that it won't be enough for Abramovich.
I think Mourinho as a manager lacks imagination and the confidence to set teams up to win, he is one-dimensional. While it works, I do think it will in years to come tarnish the way he is viewed.

After reading how he thinks Norwich are a poorly run club I don't think he knows what he's typing half the time.

We shall see. Reportedly, amongst other things, one of the big reasons Mourinho left Chelsea was because Abramovich wanted more than a functional side, he wanted a side that was exciting and attacking. Those words aren't even in Mourinho's vocabulary.
