First topic message reminder :
I wouldn't be upset, if it were limited to League 2 and below, and had a quota of English players with an age cap.

The distances aren't big. This isn't the USA or Russia.GSC wrote:No Myst, its more a tradition in Spain that there generally arent big away followings because of distances involved. Englands league system has flourished for the opposite reason
But that's not the point. It's the occasion.
This could be there only chance for years to win la liga..

How can you have less than 500.
League 2 teams get more away fans from up north to torquay.

By the way. I have only just heard that is there allocation of tickets not the approximation of actual fans going to the game.
I am pretty sure that if the allocation was a fair amount a few thousand at least would have gone.
How are allocations worked out in Spain? It doesn't seem fair. I also heard there are more brits are going than Athletico fans. So how have they got tickets??

The Spanish never did get the hang of this footballing lark, or empires, or cooking, or life in general, to be perfectly honest.

Barca gave them a rubbish allocation on purpose.
Just because Spain doesn't have the biggest landmass on earth doesn't mean it isn't big! Barca to Seville is 1000k, 730k to Valladolid.

It's not big. Your excuse is not valid at all.
However the problem is the allocations given by the home teams so I was unfair on the Athletico fans. It's disgusting and the Spanish Fa should intervene.

And Citeh have had their transfer spending capped for this summer as well - just as well that they don't need to make too many investments.

Capped to £49m (hardly punishing) that they can spend this summer, but wage bill must remain the same as this year. Basically clear-out of Richards, Lescott & co should see that wage bill reduced. Sagna, Mangala & a central midfielder is all they really need.

Funny enough, when he became our manager back in July, there was talk Barca wanted him. He is very well respected there as both a player and manager.
Be beyond shell shocked if he goes there, but his style of play does suit La Liga, but Barca is way too big for him! But i think he wants to manage in Spain.

Sagna won't count as home-grown, as he joined Arsenal in his mid twenties.

This is the best football story ive seen in a long time
Yaya Toure is considering leaving Manchester City because the club failed to wish him happy birthday, according to the Ivorian's agent.
Toure turned 31 on May 13, two days after City regained the Premier League title with victory against West Ham United.
The midfielder has been one of the club's standout players this campaign and was named in the PFA Team of the Year after scoring 24 goals in all competitions.
But Toure's agent Dimitry Seluk says the player feels disrespected by the club.
Speaking to the Sun, Seluk said: "Yaya is so upset he's thinking of leaving City. There are a number of things that have happened that have left Yaya feeling bitterly upset. He must concentrate on the World Cup now. But City have treated him with disrespect and have really hurt him.
He added: "They don't know that money can't buy relationships – no Sheikh can buy a relationship. This isn't about money or a new contract – it's about human relationships and City have shown they don't respect him. I repeat, this is not about money. In fact, he would take less to return to Barcelona.
"What happened at his birthday meant the club don't care about him. It was proof. They can say whatever they want, 'Oh we like him but we forgot'.
"Forgot? About Yaya? The player who helped you to be two-times Premier League champions? The guy who helped you win the FA Cup and the League Cup?
"His birthday can be on a normal day and, in a normal team, his team-mates and club would at least give him good wishes.
"But when you win the title on May 11, a day later you go to Abu Dhabi and on May 13 you have a big party to celebrate the title and nobody comes to Yaya to say, 'Happy birthday', what more do you want?"

This is f****** embarrassing from Yaya
City should think long term. He's 31, ageing & won't have that engine for much longer. He's on a ridiculous contract like £200k+ a week, they should sell up for a decent return, while his stock is high & before he reaches 32 or 33. They also need to bring in more home-grown players anyway. Yeah, he's your heartbeat in the side but for how much longer? This outburst is pathetic, he's got endless amounts of money, along with his brother. If he wants to leave because he got given a birthday cake, instead of a car, then he should just f*** off to Spain & get thrown bananas at.

Allardyce survives. A new attacking coach will be hired to work with him, and the board set down targets for top 10 and more entertaining football. Neither will happen and we'll part ways when his contract is up next season.

I'm disappointed to some extent, but I'm more annoyed at the statement. Hiring an attacking coach? Nonsense. Owners having more say in transfers? They brought us the magnificent Wellington Paulista!
Our performance next season will come down to how well they back him in the transfer market. If they bring in some young players and some pace then we'll play better. But if they give him the usual £20m and ask him to fill the gaps with short term gain then it won't change.

A new attacking coach, we're restructuring our scouting and recruitment, chairmen more say in transfers. They basically don't want to pay him off and they're too scared to hire someone else and get it wrong. To be fair to Sam, we got promoted then he got us 10th last season and this season 13th. Survived second season syndrome within that. The squad has improved and we were destroyed by injuries for a big part of this season. This way, he gets a year to show he can actually bring entertaining football, and if not then we've given him a chance and likely stayed in the Premier League for a third year, which would again add improvement to the squad.
Its not a nightmare, and we're on a level playing field with a few teams in and around us. If we have a better window than Southampton, Toon, Palace, Swansea, Stoke then we could easily go ahead of a few of those.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
Can only assume Yaya's agent is doing this to try and entice Real/PSG/Barca/Bayen etc to try and come in for him, maybe he feels at 31 his time's up at City and he wants one more challenge. Regardless of that, his agent and himself have made right fools of themselves they really have. Total embarrassment, just like his statement about not being regarded as one of the top midfielders in the world, when everyone was publicly calling him one of the best. Absolutely bonkers.
As for West Ham bringing in an attacking coach and asking Sam to play more attacking football, well as they say, a leopard never changes its spots. Sam doesn't play attacking football because he doesn't know how to. What he does know what to do is to set up his teams in an organised fashion and make use of the strengths they have. Ait'll all end in tears half way through the season.

Where west hams board trying to get Sam to walk away with those conditions?
Very unusual to impose a coach on a manager and take away his control over what players are added and removed to the squad.
Doubt he will last the season.

The delay of a week could have been seen as that, but I doubt it, this statement is to appease the fans. And to cover their backs if it goes jubblies up.

Milner has shown he is one heck of a player, only have to look at the Munich game where he was brilliant.
Scott Sinclair, only have to look at Premiership Years 2011/12 season, he was class.
Lescott and Barry could easily do a job for sides chasing the Champions League. Barry has shown his class at Everton this season.
