Rio de Janiero - 2014 Fifa World Cup Thread
First topic message reminder :
This **should** be the main article for the Fifa World Cup 2014 competition that happens in 10 days time. Lets try and keep the debate simple yet reasonable about all of the build-up, the stadiums, the countries, the players, the qualifying, the winners and most importantly, the "bought" 2022 World Cup.
Enjoy! (And... lets try and make this World Cup as good as possible considering all of the poor build-up, tragic deaths and he outrageous violence that has been happening over recent months)

An hour and a half to analyse the opening of the World Cup and we get fabio cannavaro giving his England 11 and Gordon strachan talking about watching a game on television.

They should be building it up, not just keep putting on nobodies and silly clips. Football should come first.

He might not, but I'm more concerned with the fact that I have no idea about what he's saying.

Also with some guy called John Dykes - I mean, who are these people?! Where are our normal half-priced Englishmen? I miss John Barnes, and Gary Bailey.

I don't think that's a particularly strong Brazil team, I can definitely see an upset tonight, the Croatians look stronger in Midfield.

Going 3-0 Brazil, Skye. I don't watch to much international footie, so I might be wrong.
With the way midfields are set nowadays, I think a compact team with workrate, can spring a suprise a lot easier

How did Adrian Charles get this gig the bloke is a sweaty blob!
Why aren't these teams in an all one colour kit or was it just England who fell for that one?
We should have told FIfA where to go on that one!

Are you looking at the same team?
Oscar, Neymar, Hulk & Fred up top? Frightening.
Pretty solid back line too.

I'd say it's a team full of over rated players, don't rate Hulk or Fred that highly while Neymar didn't impress for Barcelona, Oscar is a good player but nothing special. As for the back line well they can't defend it's that simple.

Couldn't agree more mate
I should have entered a smiley somewhere to show my sarcasm, apologies. Only player I actually rate in that Brazil team is Marcelo. I actually have to ask, is that the Fred who played for Lyon during their Champions League days?

That Brazilian midfield is being overrun. The Croatians are running straight past them, which isn't giving the defense time to set.

The difference in class between the midfields hasn't been mentioned by anyone, Rakitic and Modric up against Paulinho and Gustavo is only going to end one way.

said before the game i would rather have Croatias central midfield than brazils, brazil is just workman like to protect imo overrated CB's and wingers for fullbacks
