He'll have to play on Court 1 some time. Who knows, it could be on a day where torrential rain is scheduled. Wouldn't that be a shame? Whistle

(I thought he was kept on CC today rather than being banished to Court 1 because of the rain they're expecting but seeing as he's playing Simon I'll let it slide)

Play on outisde courts delayed.

Be interesting to see if the roof will be closed. This will stack on Djokovic's and Murray's favour later.

Covers coming off and play about to start.

Agut will be Andy's first test of the tournament and I would not be in the least bit surprised to see Agut win a set today. He is a player I rate and has good consistency. I still expect Andy to come through though in four sets.

Halep has just taken the first set 6-3 in her match with Ukrainian Tsurenko who is a new name to me but who has given Halep a good first set.
Djoko likely to have to do Court One duty some time. The rest of the big boys have.

Like the way Lopez is playing, even though Pavic is not really pushing him. Some wonderful slices from Lopez.

The match v Monfils at RG was very up and down for Foggy. If he wins the third, he may be able to do in 4 sets.

Foggy gets too emotionally invested in his matches and I feel that that is his undoing sometimes.

Endless rallies with Simon (sometimes called the most boring man in tennis) and Djoko. But why is Djoko not hitting it harder ? Simon aint gonna go a away. You have to hit it past him.

Interesting comments

In the build-up to this match, Novak Djokovic admitted to the BBC that defeat by Rafael Nadal in the French Open final left him feeling emotionally drained heading into Wimbledon. Djokovic, the 2011 Wimbledon champion, has now lost five of his last six Grand Slam finals.

He told Garry Richardson: "Just a couple of weeks ago, I had a disappointing Grand Slam final against Nadal. I put a lot of effort into that final mentally and emotionally so I still feel some traces from that final and that maybe has had an effect on the opening few rounds for me [at Wimbledon].

"But it's very good that I have Wimbledon two weeks after that final so I have an opportunity to mentally reset myself, recharge my batteries and get that confidence back."

What a way to talk yourself out of a Slam!

Also he showed he has some demons mentally because he went on to say he lost to Nadal in the finals and semis of RG and he laughed as he said 'I'm used to Rafa beating me at RG'! Does this mean when he steps onto court to face Nadal at RG in his mind he knows its time to pack his bags and clear his locker out?

As for the above, he maybe justy saying it for the sake of the interview.

Interesting comments from Novak there. I don't totally understand what he means by mental effort, he messed up pretty much every big moment. Maybe over-thinking?

Sir Fred - exactly right. Novak played very cautiously against Stepanek and is playing the same way today. He's playing with big margins and almost every shot is a loopy topspin, he's not flattening out at all. It's working because he is serving very well but there's a lack of spark and energy in his game.

Odd demeanour on court too. Looks like he feels obliged to be there and would rather be doing other things.

That's twice Novak has got the break of serve and given it straight back. The last one was to love and was abysmally poor.

Novak, if you're not interested, grab yourself a commemorative towel and go home.

The interview seemed more like an attempt of trying to take the pressure off himself.

In general I would say Novak has regressed generally at slams. Whereas in 2011 he was mentally peerless he now seems more like the Novak mentally of say five or six years ago. The Masters Series is fine but it is at slams where he has psychological issues that need redressing.

I think the whole locker room is mentally beat before they play Nadal at RG, probably bar Soderling. It is a case of do you accept that he is going to beat you? Or do you just play without that fear?

For me Djokovic has shown a real mental issue with his game and his confidence over the last 18 months.

More from Djokovic:

Novak Djokovic says he is still looking to improve the mental side of his game after defeats in his last three Grand Slam finals.

Before the tournament, he told BBC Sport: "I have had experiences with psychologists. But right now I don't have one. I look at books about sports science and sports psychology so I try to educate myself in that field of life. I am trying to improve and look out for something that can give me that edge.

"But at the end of the day, you can read as many books as you like, talk to as many people as you like but you have to be the one who plays a lot of matches, understands what your strengths and weaknesses are and overcomes the pressure."

chin is he over-complicating a rather effective game he has?

Yeah, he's doing enough to suppress the games of the likes of Stepanek and Simon but he's nowhere near the form needed to beat Andy yet. Even Berdych will cause problems at present.
