US Open Day 13 Saturday The Men's Semis - Page 3 Empty US Open Day 13 Saturday The Men's Semis

Post by sirfredperry Sat 06 Sep 2014, 10:02 am

First topic message reminder :

Well, it's all pointing to a Djoko-Fed final. But can Cilic or Nishikori spring a surprise ? Interesting that, after Fed, Cilic has won the most matches this season. Kei has had two exhausting five-setters but has not had to play since Wednesday, which should be a help.
Some interesting thoughts on another post about the improvement in Cilic's serving. He'll need to do well in that area if he wants to win today.
I think I'm going to plump for a Nole-Rog final. Should Fed win today it would the first season since 2009 he's reached more than one GS final.

He has won 7 slams for a reason.  The last time he lost to a player outside top 10 in a slam was in 2010.

This eurosport commentator has to be the worst in tennis (the loud one that talks too much).

He's even worse (impossible as it sounds) when Federer or Nadal play.

Does anyone know who he is?

Fowler's a young kid, Becker must be having a midlife crisis.

Djoko getting breathless, Kei needs this set, Choko will fold.

Even Becker who was rented for enhancing Djokos media/sponsors appeal, aint helping much.

How does the game of Kei look?
I can't watch the game - but following slamtracker, it feels that with 20winners against 23 Ue (Djoko 24/13) he has the potential to get better if he cleans up his strokes...

Is Kei playing a high risk game or is he making too many avoidable mistakes?

I don't know, but I don't think I've said anything positive about the commentating this fortnight. Are you referring to the one with the rich Kelsey Grammar-esque voice?

Nishikori's racquet-head speed is absurd, it's where he gets a lot of his power from. Takes some serious timing though. He's tired but hanging in there, good on him.

That's a cracking stat, SB  OK  and very impressive at that.

biugo: Some good strokes on display from both, but neither quite hitting high gear. Nishikori seems to be putting a lot of effort into his shots this set to stave off Novak, but he's doing it so far. I think the heat is affecting them both, but Kei moreso.

Oh him, they both irritate me, but him not so much. Threw a real doozy during the Kyrgios-Robredo match.
Kelsey Grammar guy - he did thank the ball boy which was pretty cool
excited guy - I'm telling you, he's the real deal!

Yeah, because if I wasnt sure of wether or not Kyrgios was a potential world #1, his treatment of the ball boys is definitely a tipping point.

That's about half his output.

The other half is 'he's unplayable at the moment'.
