Leinster away is always rough and a fixture I'd usually expect little from, so in some ways not the worst fixture at this stage. Zebre away would in some respects be less fortunate, as it's an important one to win away.
Still, brutal injury list and the likes of Bradbury will soon find out what they are made of. Hopefully we'll see Hoyland and Brown as well.

Very good win for Edinburgh, especially given the circumstances. You see there is a team spirit in there just waiting to be let out. It was at some cost on the injuries front though and you have got to feel desperately sorry for Gilchrist and Watson in particular. Surely they are going to have to find a few other players from somewhere, some of these injuries sound relatively long term.

How severe are injuries to the likes of McKenzie and Atkins? That injury list is beginning to look quite scary..
Early November break can't come soon enough and next is 2 defining fixtures with Blues at home and improved Zebre away.

Re: ECC - Edinburgh Rugby vs Lyon 24/10/2014
As far as I can make out last night's injuries look like;
Grant - compressed fracture of the cheekbone
Watson - broken jaw
Gilchrist - double forearm fracture
Burleigh - grade 2 or 3 medial ligament
Beard - head knock possible concussion
No word on why Fife, Dickinson and Strauss were late withdrawals, but if they were listed to start hopefully just niggles.
We really will be struggling next week, with 13 players listed as injured prior to the match I make that more than 20 on the injury list now. Next week's medical bulletin is going to read like War and Peace!
Edit: someone on the Embra forum posting that Fife's done a hamstring.

According to the Embra forum, Bresler could be out injured as well..
3 wins in a row is great but at what cost did it came?

I've been disappointed with Bresler so far - he just doesn't look match fir at all, or game hungry.
I don't know the timescales, but we should be expecting Tom Brown back soon and Greig Tonks can play outside centre if needed. We've also got Farndale. The pack looks very bare currently .

ER:
Further to last night's European Rugby Challenge Cup win over Lyon at BT Murrayfield, a number of players received injuries and are subject to ongoing medical treatment.
Flanker Hamish Watson will have an operation on a fractured jaw tomorrow, fellow back row forward Roddy Grant will have an operation on a fractured cheekbone at the beginning of the week and centre Phil Burleigh has torn his medial collateral ligament.
Lock Grant Gilchrist has seen a specialist who is reviewing his x-rays following a fractured bone in his arm, to decide on further management of the injury.
All injuries are being monitored to establish recovery timelines.

My word, thats quite a price to pay for a win! Going to be very hard to maintain any momentum with basically all of our key players now injured!

Okay, it's time for Glasgow to share their squad around.
Cannot have good players like Ashe, Spinks, Wilson and Bordill sitting on the sidelines when Edinburgh have no loose forward cover.

Anyone know the rules behind player shares? I know the sru employ the players, but what about league rules and player registration?

Edinburgh Loan Rules:RDW_Scotland wrote:Anyone know the rules behind player shares? I know the sru employ the players, but what about league rules and player registration?
1. If they're good, send them to Glasgow immediately.
2. If they are no good, play them consistently in all Edinburgh teams or send them to a French Pro 2 club.
3. If they're Lee Jones, send them to Glasgow where they will prove invaluable for 2 games, then send them to 7s.
4. If you don't know what to do with them, send them to 7s.
5. If they're very good and you have no replacement for them, send them to Glasgow to prove just how good they are, then send them to London Irish.

Absolutely, Edinburgh will be in dire need, even moreso during the international window.

good job we aren't playing anybody too difficult.
Just the reigning Pro12 finalists and multi European Championship winners in their own backyard.
I feel any momentum we have gained is about to be obliterated in 80 minutes.

Dell and S H-C are both with the Scotland squad I believe, so I would imagine they will be unavailable. I'm sure someone also said the Bresler has picked up a knock and didn't Strauss pull out of the last game because of injury?
I hope no one else gets injured in the A game.

Dell and S-H-C are very much in the squad for the experience, so they'll surely be released. Especially given the injuries!

Well there's always Sutherland if Dell can't make it, and Hart or Kennedy if Hidalgo-Clyne can't.

That's all well and good but who goes on the bench at loosehead?

Re: ECC - Edinburgh Rugby vs Lyon 24/10/2014
I think it's getting to a point where it's easier to make an uninjured list:
Ross Ford fit
James Hilterbrand fit
Stuart McInally fit
George Turner fit
Simon Berghan fit
John Andress fit
Allan Dell fit
WP Nel Prop fit
Alex Toolis fit (should be back from the loan)
Ben Toolis fit
Tomás Leonardi fit
David Denton fit
Grayson Hart fit
Sam Hidalgo-Clyne fit
Sean Kennedy fit
Tom Heathcote fit
Ben Atiga fit (sort of)
Joaquín Domínguez fit
Chris Dean fit – on loan
Damian Hoyland fit - 7s
Tim Visser fit
Jack Cuthbert fit
Greig Tonks fit
I think we are likely to see McInally making a return to the back row, also where has McAlpine gone?

Think i read McInally would return for the AI period but yeah this week could be a week too early for him.
Didn't know that about McAlpine, i guess no teams have 7 locks on their books.

We should have Dell and Sutherland to cover loosehead, which is pretty decent, but there's also Simon Berghan don't forget who can play badly on both sides, all 20 stones of him.
